  1. I don’t get the fuss with ID cards, seems logical to me that you should have some form of ID on you, especially to vote.
  2. Cheers Jase, figured as much. I had a big tracked Arbor Eater with vertical rollers like that, if you put wood in the wrong hole it would make a funny noise and not pull it in, no harm done. Fnar Fnar!
  3. Yeah, ours had gone beyond that, when we tried to straighten it the weld broke along the seam. putting it back together tomorrow morning, it’s a cracking little chipper, just need to sort out the issues caused by the previous owner.
  4. Without someone having a look at them it’s a bit unfair on the OP to portray him as whatever some people are saying. They could be an easy fell and extraction, in which case it’s a good deal.
  5. More fine tuning…. The top of the hopper just before the feed rollers has bowed upwards and the weld was failing. Due I’m sure to the previous owners employees ramming oversize wood in, still, a surprising weak point. This was making the infeed troublesome so needed sorting. We cut out a section and welded a new piece in. Question. I discovered the funny bit to the left of the non static feed roller had broken it’s mounting and was moving loosely. I took it out (see second to last picture) iirc you can use the machine quite happily without it, any owners experience of this?
  6. Have a look on the end of your legs, it’s where I keep mine..
  7. You can’t beat a good long walk with the dog, perfect exercise as we move into our dotage Stubs.
  8. Dust off your kettle bells, they must be in the back of your wardrobe somewhere.
  9. It was good, don’t worry. I liked, ‘don’t make the customer’s problems your problems’
  10. I have always found that saying a bit trite and simplistic. (Profit/turnover saying) Haven’t got round to finishing the rest of the podcast. Your sales training come though….in a good way! Your business model works for you, for the moment. What was the famous Mike Tyson saying, everyone’s got a plan, till they get punched in the face. Good stuff though!
  11. How much less petrol you use as well.
  12. Any tree firm that aspires to have any sort of future needs powered assistance. They're right up there with chippers these days.
  13. Never meet your heroes.
  14. So you’re the guy he’s interviewing? (Got halfway so far, interesting stuff)
  15. I have to take issue with this back thing. Climbing around in a tree is fine even therapeutic for your back. Lifting heavy wood isn’t, and worse still is driving a tractor or especially a digger all day.
  16. I agree with much of what you say. If there is a (theoretical) tree to take down then it’s a €1000 job and most prices will be there or thereabouts. You could pull off €2000 on the tree occasionally but not on a consistent basis. How quickly you can do it and move onto the next €1000 tree is where the key to executive washroom lies.
  17. This one? I’ll do it for the wood!
  18. If you don’t think you’ll get the big job at a good price then you won’t, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Last few years I’ve secured some nice big TDs with really good money on them. You have to have the gear to do it quickly and convince the client they’re in good hands. I don’t want to come across as a BS merchant, but don’t be defeatist about bigger work, do your sums and stick to your guns. Clients don’t tend to go for the lowball offer on really big/dangerous/logistical nightmare work, they go for the guy they think will do it right. My 2 cents.
  19. It was all made up by the Mail. She won’t sue for libel because it’s not worth the effort/expense to sue the Murdoch empire ( or Rothermere or whatever) Its blown up in their faces anyway. Is there any footage of the licentious leg crossing? Of course not, bollocks of the highest order.
