  1. To the OP. Try working as a groundy for a while on your days off, get a feel for the business and earn a few quid at the same time, plus building contacts. If you’re still keen you can start training and all that.
  2. ‘Disguised employment’ Very good way of putting it, and very true.
  3. One of these days I’m going to do a review of the three types of grab, Knockabout, fixed (Klou type) and rotator, pros and cons, that type of thing.
  4. With the Avants/Multione the grab you use, and how it affects balance/steering/maneouvering wood is more important than the actual machine.
  5. It’s your truck, they’re on your time. Put trackers on the trucks, I would. If they’re stopping at the bakery or Maccy Ds to pick up some lunch on the way, fair enough. Otherwise, get to where you’re meant to be.
  6. I see you’ve posted it on Arbtalk FB now. Lets be frank, or at least I will be. The free webinar, the FB site for Tree Surgeon Business owners, the posting on forums and FB sites is to generate interest in your courses and masterminding (whatever that is) I don’t mind a bit of hustle, but cloaking it in altruism is sneaky.
  7. Ok, so the webinar is free, but the mastermind and training courses cost money, is that right?
  8. I dunno Henry, you do seem to be obsessing with this business failure thing. Why not just say what happened, how you sorted it out and started again on here? No need for all this webinar, podcast, inspirational chit chat, it’s like you’ve made (“I had a business with 47 employees and lost it all including my family home”) it a commodity/asset that you’ll only reveal if people sign up to something. It’s the “no more roping for Nate” of 2022
  9. Great shot!
  10. Not the worst idea I’ve heard. Good shout.
  11. Lucky deer.
  12. Whereabouts are you Will? Just seen IOW, soz.
  13. Isn’t the South Asian population in the midlands largely due to the import of labour to manufacturing industries in the 60/70s?
  14. While we were at it we replaced those paper thin pressed steel brackets that hold the light board. The originals had been bent and bolted up and were just about useless. A productive weekend!
  15. Maybe whitebeam then.
  16. I understand, no real moans from me, compromises were made. Maybe making the inner 12” (closest to the feed rollers) in something a bit thicker might have sorted it, but it’s not a real issue, a relatively easy fix.
  17. It was very cheap, they only sold about 5000 all in all, but better in red, agreed. Says it’s a pig to ride uncomfortable and doesn’t tick over reliably, but he likes the odd stuff.
  18. Not mine, but owned by my welder mate who has a few bits and bobs, mostly old BMWs. A genuine flop sales wise, but an interesting footnote in Ducati’s history. The Ducati Paso.
  19. The sheet metal does seem a little on the thin side.
  20. I don’t get the fuss with ID cards, seems logical to me that you should have some form of ID on you, especially to vote.
  21. Cheers Jase, figured as much. I had a big tracked Arbor Eater with vertical rollers like that, if you put wood in the wrong hole it would make a funny noise and not pull it in, no harm done. Fnar Fnar!
  22. Yeah, ours had gone beyond that, when we tried to straighten it the weld broke along the seam. putting it back together tomorrow morning, it’s a cracking little chipper, just need to sort out the issues caused by the previous owner.
