  5. Evening all I'm looking at getting into climbing for fun to start then do my relevant tickets. I know a few folks that can show me the ropes 😜 and also I rock climb so have a knowledge of rope work. Interested in srt mainly I'm trying to out together a kit list to get me started and I'd love some ideas and tips Harness - petzl as my rock harnesses are petzl and the fits good Rope - some say marlow but lots of choice, also what lentgh is best? Ascenders - hand and foot Mechanic prussik - zigzag? Lanyard and flipline - make one from rope and a grab or buy one? Throw line - line choices and bag choices? That's as far as I have, I'm on a budget of around £700-800 for this stuff but if I can save some money I'd like to as it's taken a while to get this money together. Thanks folks.
  6. I'm just getting into climbing so would be interested to hear some feedback on devices.
  7. Why not make it into fencing? If you need a hand making post and rail I'm happy to come make some with you. May be more money in it.
  8. Have you tried Por15? Frosts the classic car place sell it and it's great stuff.
  9. Like you I run a 13" sugi on a 550xp and boy does it fly
  10. It may work for an outward curve but try it before hand as it may snap as your bending it the wrong way
  11. Half depth notches at say an inch apart along the back should do it. Another idea would be to soak the board in water before fixing might get you a little bit more bend
  12. Never use a bowl gouge for bowls!! When the wood spins you have sections of end grain for the chisel to bite, a roughing theg takes large bites and can give a bad catch. Use bowl gouges for all aspects of bowls
  13. Hey folks this may be in the wrong place so apologies. I'm looking for some large diameter wood in or around the Ashford area I'm mainly looking for birch, sycamore and alder in sizes of 10" - 20" diameter for bowl making. I can get through a lot at a time but not enough for an arctic. Does anybody have anything like that or know of any? The freshly felled the better as I make my bowls green. Thanks,Will
  14. Got these done today inbetween some other work
  15. Where are you based Kev? Well worth finding some local guys or a club for advice.
  16. I'm interested on these saws too. Tempted with the 576 for the auto tune but most seem to prefer the older 372.
  17. Got one done today in between knifemaking and dodging the rain.
  18. Bosch professional has a 2 year guarantee but go online and you get another year. 4ah battery's last a while and ffx has the best deals on then.
  19. When I have worked on jobs with a few needles around. Normally put some leather gloves on, grabber for picking them up and hold the sharp box with another grabber. Worst time for injury is putting them into the boxes. Be safe out there.
