  1. I'm a husky guy with nearly all all my saws, apart from a 150. I have the 3120 for both crosscutting and milling As much of a husky fan I'd say get the 880 or really consider using a 660/395 with a large bar and skip chain as the big big saws are not much fun to use
  2. As above shavey is your man. Got a few wraps and spikes off him now.
  3. Baileys in America is the place for big dawgs
  4. Cheers Jon I'll have a look. Got a 560xpg it's a few years old but double dogs would make it much better
  5. Can't get outer dogs on a 560 without putting the 562 side case on. Although my 562 came the other day so will have a play swapping bits over
  6. Have a few saws with them on. So much nicer as they always grip. I find when I go back to my 550/560 the single dog slides around a lot
  7. I managed about 9k miles on a full tank before it got down low so yeah it just sips at it.
  8. Love my cabstar. As above takes heavy loads with ease and pulls like a train.
  9. Mike from the logbarn has kiln dried timber all the time. He's near Canterbury.
  10. You can still make a pulley system using rings just will have a little more friction than a pulley.
  11. Pure linseed oil will give some protection and not really alter the colour. You can apply multiple coats
  12. Rings are a lot lighter than pulleys up the tree. They will give some friction in the canopy so will aid bollard wraps. You can buy rings spliced from honeys for a fraction of the cost of a pulley and sling.
  13. Where are you based? Plenty of other threads like this around but here's a start. Call the local firms and offer to do a day's work/demo and show keenness and explain what you want to do. Work as hard as you can while learning on the job from more skilled people. Always a new thing to learn in the tree world.
  14. It's the black m8 with around a 5m bed on it
  15. Anybody got an idea on second hand value? I bought an m8 unused from a friend. He had never used it and it was still boxed. I have used it a few times but not as much as I would have liked. What's it worth? And anybody interested in one? I'm in Kent
  16. Thanks shavey. Now to figure out getting a roll of it over here.
  17. I'd like to run full skip semi chisel chain but I do t think it exists in 3/8? But it does exist in 404
  18. I know [emoji12] probably a mix of full length for clogging down and occasional use in the woods for limbs. Also used for ringing up stuff in the yard.
  19. Will be for up the tree and ringing up on the floor when I don't want to use the 3120 Ideally want a 28" on other with the skip to reduce cutters in the wood.
  20. Anybody have an idea on what's available to fit the new 562xp?? If I'm right it's a small spline 19mm 3/8 7t as stock??? I'm trying to figure if I could get a 404 sprocket on it which would let me run semi chisel full skip
  21. I have the tsurugi curve. Great thin blade to get into tight forks and lighter than a zubat
  22. Jiggle syphon? I got one in toolsttion and use it for fuels/oils and water. Does well on all of them
  23. If your in Kent like me yard prices can be a lot and also hard to find. I'd try hunting out a local farmer or similar to get some field space from. Insurance prices will vary depending on how much kit you have. Trust are who I use and I believe it's £25 for every £1000 of kit you have Also with all that new gear think of a safe way to keep it locked up as there's been a lot of gear getting nicked round this way
  24. Following this. I have tried one briefly at a show but keen to hear from longer term users.
  25. Titebond 3 is the best stuff out there. As for finish, the chestnut oil is mineral oil and will not cure in the wood. Pure linseed oil (not boiled as it contains metal drying agents) will cure in the wood. You can also use walnut oil and ring oil but be aware of any nut allergies for potential users.
