  1. thank you very much chaps, i greatly appreciate it. will get on it after gym.
  2. Can anyone direct me to some spares for this machine, looking for drive belt replacement for hydraulics. My machine has a particular split in it which may just go at some point, don't fancy being stranded with no power to the tracks or the feed grippers! any help appreciated.
  3. I tried some birch water the other week, chilled it was really refreshing!
  4. i almost bought a logosol m8 but the length put me off. i have an alaskan with varying size extensions, its hardly been used! i got this with a boat winch to assist in the drive of the saw to cut the wood
  5. I had a fuel tank filter come to pieces with fuel, the pipe nye on melted apart and the pickup eventually came away from the suction pipe. this also happened to my polesaw fueltank pickup and pipe, it may be a common problem i dont know!
  6. I take the comments and criticism, it was the functionality i was looking for, something more than just two way radios. There is a plus side to this, its interchangeable with my riding helmets😀. the only thing i really could do with sorting is the wires, but thats the same as the arborcoms as they go round the back! if they could deconstruct this little thing and insert it into a decent set of muffs, the system would be bang on. I think that there are more systems being introduced these days with technology being how it is, just cant understand why something as simple as the arbtalk arbcoms are the price that they are. it will only be a matter of time before the system that i have will be incorporated into a set of duffs!
  7. have a spare car wheel wi no tyre on it, jack up the rear and use it as a capstan winch! just stick it in reverse and zoom! or any spare petrol strimmer engine with a welded car wheel/ capstan of so e sort to drive it up there, i dunno just a suggestion!
  8. I have done my own setup, installed speakers, mic and the removable unit in about 30minutes each helmet. I chose a cardo packtalk duo setup. One is on my protos and the other is on a kask! pics! the wires need a little tidy bit this is just as good as infact better than arborcoms version it allows many headsets to connect to each other, you can listen to music/radio, and comms all at the same time. same cost more functionality than my arbtalk arbor comms that i just ordered! I thought they looked pretty knickers and gave it a go with ordering motorcycle comms units with added functionality. FR Jones were quoting £558 + Vat for one headset, for one helmet! gustharts same price for 2, i went with gustharts, but since have waited a long time to get em circa 6weeks! Having seen how these were setup i opted to try it for myself, the results are pretty good IMO!
  9. Im sure that it states in the manual that when you undo the pin you must threadlock it back!
  10. you can also download the NPTC's assessor guidelines, basically tick boxes for the assessor, but it lets you know the full criteria for what they expect standards wise!
  11. i use a goretex cycling jacket, by raceface! slim cut with a giant pocket on the back for storing your lunch in !!
  12. Ran a meeting there in august at IAS 2015. Got to meet the stihl timbersports world champion at grouse mountain😀 he made a chair for my son! lol
  13. id like to also see that as it would make my life easier, running two entities to justify the tree side!
  14. awesome video, not long back from vancouver, trees just seem so supersize there.
  15. is this using a laser cutter? i have an xcarve large, i expect it could do this also with a large sheet of anything as it will cut metal, plastic and wood!
  16. i have had the pleasure in dealing with copford sawmill and i can say that you guys helped me out a treat with my oak gateposts a while back. thanks.
  17. what then got me was. if they didnt hold up to their own selling regulations they may sell more! i understand that its a responsibility thing but i dont think ive heard recently of anyone in severe chainsaw injury because the theyd not had a certification or ticket to operate one safely. Of course only real men use husqvarna's. 😏
  18. yup spotted it on the telly and was actually surprised, apparently a major thing! an advertisement drive to sell stihl chainsaws
  19. I had the displeasure of cutting yarmouth pier up when i was commercial diving. it went through chain like it was made of granite, on an 18"square lump we would need about 3-4 chains on each leg. Using a Stanley hydraulic chainsaw, took some time and i was told not to get any splinters as its a bit poisonous, causes blood poisoning and you can get septicaemia!
  20. Those are a similar product, i have nine of the panels, they each have 5 vacuum tubes to a panel, i expect i will be using no kore than about 6
  21. They legally have 28 days to pay you, from what i understand as i have worked as a commercial diver under the CIS scheme. However employers rarely adhere to this, cashflow pending etc!
  22. This may be a costly or not experiment! but i have solar domestic hot water panels which when set up i plan to dry my wood with using a coil of the piping to redirect underneath my woodstacks, heat from the coils can reach some incredible temperatures, with this and the air moving round i expect it to be almost cost free in the summer and winter. Just top and some vented side covers to prevent rain entering but free flow of air. if you can get a hold of these DSHW panels (i got mine for £90) plus the antifreeze/coolant liquid and piping, pump this may be a cost effective way to dry your wood stacks! Just a thought.
  23. go to trees.org.uk, they have numerous templates for all sorts. link is here: Help becoming an ARB Approved Contractor
  24. I would like to appeal to all tree workers established tree surgeons/ businesses in the battle or east sussex area. I am a trained climber/rigging treeworker and have branched into( excuse the pun) forest school education for kids etc with the help of some very talented people. I have a suitable site for their educational purposes but i need a little help from the community of tree care businesses in east sussex. I am hopefully looking at taking chippings to cover some of our hard standing as it is not suitable for kids to walk over due to the broken bricks and obscure manner in which it has been dumped. Long logs(sticks ) up to 4mtrs in length or even logs( big or small) would also be acceptable ( i have a splitter available) to fuel the little ones fire building experiences. I can offer cups of tea upon arrival if wanted, I expect that i will need around 3-400 tons to cover a large area of around a 1000sq mtrs(guestimate!)with further chippings needed for topup if anyone wants to offload here at a later date. I would greatly appreciate this if you can help, contact me via pm for details. regards Col
  25. I use one ultra o and a shadow or a phantom i think cant remember which one, it does state in the manual what carabiners to use. but its your preference at the end of the day. i find that using the o's you do tend to have an angle on the spiderjack, just switch the crab with an angled head and it will sit better, the angled head allows you to put it on and off without snagging on the open gate (if you understand what im saying), i.e. pushing the spliced eye or tied hitch further away from gate and those rubber grommit things they give you are quite useful at keeping it where its supposed to be! im currently running tachyon 11.5mm and its doing fine with this rope.
