  1. God, this was in my area, the last scene being filmed round the corner from me!! It does wind me up that there are people out there that pay this kind of money. I remember doing a quote and she wanted a price there and then, which normally I wouldn't do, but gave her a price of £260. Was a piece of piss small ash pollard. She looked at me and said, are you sure? I was going to pay another guy £800!!! Lucky Sandra gave me your number!! It left me thinking, wow I could of gone in at £500 and still got the job! It pains me to think your average joe can put a value of 2 weeks wages on a job that's gonna take someone a few hours.
  2. Mate I'm paying so you'll be lucky to get bread and butter:lol:
  3. Only joking... I'm not fussy.
  4. Most days... number 2 on the list sometimes gets bombed if there's nothing good in the bank. You tend to get a spell of old lady customers then a hottie comes along that keeps you going for a while:biggrin:
  5. Richard the third, tommy tank, Rosie lea
  6. From his username we can deduce he was probably born in '94, making him 21. Prob doesn't have bills to pay or any real responsibilities. Guys I work with that are that age don't call in sick either when they have a day off. Not sure why, although I can imagine some of them are too stoned to get out of bed and are too embarrassed to come up with another "dodgy curry excuse"
  7. You need ground level experience.. Text books are a great start but there are guys on here who have been doing what you want to do for years. I work for a gardening company and we have college/uni guys turn up, and whilst the theory is all there and they know all their plants, they haven't got a clue how to use the tools effectively let alone get around a garden and make money. . I have a friend who does forestry work, coppicing hazel and chestnut etc. It's hard, hard graft and long days to earn not very much. You need to see how others do it and how they utilise their time and energy. How much they need to process in a day, felling, splitting, seasoning etc, etc. then you need to find a custom base. Rose tinted glasses spring to mind
  8. Think the black stuff is bleeding canker
  9. That's what I told him, cash only. What's the reversable PayPal thing? They credit you then debit you?!?
  10. I added my commencal mountain bike on gumtree today for £500. Someone messaged asking if it was still available, I replied yes then received this - Great! please consider it sold and please cancel every other appointment regarding it as i am willing to pay your full asking price because i need to buy it for my cousin asap, i have read through the advert and I'm totally satisfied with it,sadly i would not be able to come personally to collect due to my hearing loss and me being in wheelchair. I have a courier agent that would help me to pick it up at your preferred location after you have received your money and i'll pay you via PayPal today. Where is the pick up location so that i can inform the courier agent about it now? There's some proper scum out there and I don't understand the full workings of this con but it clearly isn't kosher
  11. I have a new 261 and run it on an 18inch bar. I really like it.
  12. Mate I'm not one to crawl up people's backsides but I'm speechless! The detail is amazing and the fact it's of epic proportions is just insane! How do charge/quote for things like this? Is it price work or by the hour?
  13. Look up 'ben_y' on here, he's in Essex. Had him work with me once on a big cedar, he's a good lad
  14. That carving is awesome. How long have you been working on that?
  15. Will the leaves come back bigger after a hard prune?
  16. Sound advice from stubby. Get yourself some trousers as a must and prob grab a helmet/visor setup. Check in at FR Jones for good prices on saws.
  17. On eBay they're about £3-4 ish. I get mine from Selco for around the same price. They're pretty good all rounders and I like them when ascending.
  18. Maxiflex ultimate
  19. Ha no worries! You can still have it if you want, I'll give you £50
  20. The jobs in Orpington Kent. I'm doing it on the 17th. There won't be any logs, I'm reducing the width.
