  1. You can never leave Arbtalk..... Mwahahaha
  2. I have my reasons
  3. I only went and bought a 261!!! Went in jones to get the husky and walked out with the stihl
  4. I'm so indecisive when it comes to buying things... I've narrowed it down to budget and class..... Stihl 261 CM or the husqvarna 550xp. What would you guys get if you were going to buy one of these??
  5. Nothing glamorous but an easy £80
  6. Hi, Any groundies interested in a short days work in Orpington on Saturday? Trimming some shrubs and reducing a cherry tree. I only have a transit van so will have to chop up cherry in back. £80 cash for about 6 hours work, handy if you got own saw. Give me a shout if you're interested, Matt
  7. What's in your hand?
  8. Been looking at the 550xp.. I think I'm gonna go with that. Suits the budget and seems to be a good saw. I have not had a husqvarna saw, normally always in the stihl camp. But I'm gonna change it up being that no one has recommended a stihl equivalent on this thread... Can anyone tell me why? With good reason, not just because you say so!!!
  9. Ah the words of a salesman you're good mark, very good! It will be more of a luxury buy than a necessity... Besides, I had a top handle and 271 stolen the other day so this is on a back burner til I replace the others
  10. Thanks for replies, but the battery one, with a spare battery, which, obviously I would buy, comes out way too expensive for my budget unfortunately. 150 it is.
  11. Just looked it up mick. Should of mentioned budget!! I've got about £550... The husky comes out at 650!
  12. Hi all, Recently had a chainsaw stolen so am now in the market for a new one. It was a stihl ms271 with an 18 inch bar that I would use for chogging down a stem. Was just going to replace like for like as I found it had reasonable power and seemed well balanced, but thought id ask what you guys use for chogging down?
  13. Good choice of silky! Your groundies might want some ppe. Is that a wire core flip line your using?
  14. Stihl ms271- epic saw, great on the ground and well balanced in a tree. Stihl ms150t - its a very versatile saw in my opinion. As treequip said, it's all necessary but I'll always have a pair of ear defenders on whatever I'm doing.
  15. Got caught once whilst gardening.. Was blowing the edges out and as I rounded a blind spot in the garden, I thought 'perfect place to drain the main vein'. I was on my own and left the blower running on my back. Obviously, I couldn't help myself but to turn the giant stream of pee into spray with the blower. Merrily blowing my piss and generally feeling good, to my horror the customer had been following me up her lengthy garden, to offer me a tea or ask me to do something presumably. She saw me. I saw her. I turned the br380 off, turned it back on again, turned it off, pranced about trying to put my willy away whilst she stood with her hands over her mouth. I literally crumbled, apologising profusely. She said I couldn't work out what you were doing at first. She thought I was spraying some sort of fertiliser! She then said, well, at least it'll keep the foxes away! I instantly changed the topic asking if it was ok to trim the viburnum hard! Suffice to say, I didn't get my tea!
  16. Do you have to buy the battery separately?
  17. Yeah fair one stubby! Was a bit lazy! And thanks Steve, very informative.
  18. I want to get a lightweight top handle for pruning and came across the husky battery powered one. A friend of mine has the stihl 150t and I really like it, but was wondering if anyone has any experience on the battery husky who could offer some insight and/or advice? Thanks Matt
  19. Please... If I have to blow off a few turds in order to get the job done, then I will. You're all obviously millionaires that don't have to worry about paying the mortgage and can turn jobs down left, right and centre, but unfortunately, I don't have that luxury. Fair enough if it's been carpet bombed by several St Bernard's, but in my experience it's never more than a few. Keep the work coming my way lads, I'll happily earn the money you don't want and blow a few land mines into the borders! Cheers!
  20. We usually get the br600 magnum out and blast it into the beds and borders!
  21. Need someone who can climb with own gear for a big oak in gravesend, Kent. £200 for the day. No clearing up, just climb and cut. Someone please help me!! Been let down at last minute
  22. Jeeez, that's amazing. You have a great talent. The face is awesome
  23. I need to type quicker!!!
  24. Water it for long periods as you want to encourage the roots to grow deep. If it's on clay/poorly drained soil, try aeration so the water isn't sitting on the surface, which may be why roots are surfacing. Hollow tine probably and then make sure the cores are cleared from surface. If it's really yellowing there's gonna be a build up of surface thatch which you may want to lightly rake out. Prob don't use a scarifier but a lawn rake of some type. Once done, a low dose of lawn sand will help green up the lawn and keep any moss at bay.
