  1. Can't work out if what I'm about to ask is rude so I'm just gonna take the chance... How much did you earn/charge the customer for that piece and how long did it take to do?
  2. I bought a 16" bar from fr jones today as it was on offer for a tenner. I can stick it on my 261 happily, but it's a "duromatic" as opposed to the rollomatic ones I have.. Can anyone explain the difference to me please?
  3. Hmmm I would say a pyrus too... What are the black bits scattered around the base of the tree?
  4. No, no, I would want to be doing the top secret ones! My mates not silly he only tells me so much! But what he does tell are interesting and I just fill in the blanks
  5. Special forces.. Carrying out top secret black ops etc. I have a friend in the SBS and the tasks he has to carry out and the stories he tells are truly amazing. Plus some of the kit he gets to use!!
  6. Zigzag should never be out.. Change your rope come out for a climb with me Will. Before you buy one try mine, I've got both. I reckon you'd prefer the zigzag mate. It also goes better with the petzl pantin (foot ascender)
  7. But then it's opposite for the leaves . Robur - stalkless. Petraea - with stalk
  8. Quality!

Ailanthus? Tree of heaven... I await my correction
  14. Yeah id agree - koelreuteria. It has those physalis-like seed pods now
  15. Yes, pic was taken today and just googled clerodendrum bungei and that's the one. Cheers guys, I'm gonna be smug in tomorrow's plant ID!! (we have a meeting every morning where we have to bring in plants and ID them)
  16. Arf arf.. I was counting on you actually, you're normally good with ID's
  17. Hello all, can anyone help with an ID on this please
  18. Ok cheers. £130 doesn't sound too bad, but I won't hold my breath!
  19. I did a search but couldn't really find much.. I typed in homemade pulley saver and didn't see much that was relevant to my cause. Thanks silky, I'll look at getting a pinto rig pulley
  20. I fancy making a pulley saver out of spare bits of kit but not too sure how to go about it really. I've got bits like unused length of 14mm blue yale rigging rope, some maillons, triple attachment rapids pulleys, loads of friction cords etc.. I could probably put something together but I think I'm a bit paranoid being that it will be the one thing that stops me from dropping to the floor!! Don't really have the money to buy a new 'Gucci' pulley saver, but feel I need one to help my ascents. Could anyone help me me some guidance, reassurance and even pics of your homemade ones? Cheers Matt
  21. I think you explained that well and I too don't see a gap in the middle. I have a 201 and really want a 150 for finer pruning. I don't think I'd go for an intermediate saw like the 192/193
  22. Wrong again Mick mate. I'm employed 5 days a week. This was a private job. No insurance. Shall I pull my pants down now?
  23. Sounds good mate.. I'm looking forward to climbing a big tree without the pressure of 'getting the job done' and without a saw in my hand!!
  24. Ha! Also I failed to mention that the fact it was cut was only brought to our attention when a police dog unit and two old bill with tasers turned up saying the alarm has been triggered. Obviously no break in had occurred so we all came to the conclusion that a wire had been cut... None of us could see it so every one went their own way. The customer rings an hour later telling me that the phone line is down. I went back to the job with my oppo and there it was, in tatters. So this particular phone line has about 6 cores and is linked to her burglar alarm. Happy days
  25. Mate, I wouldn't even know where to start. The customer wasn't in, so on the phone I just told her to keep me informed as to what happens. I didn't mention paying as, by my reckoning, she's as much to blame as I am. It was slack and completely camouflaged in her overgrown garden. And she could of told me it was there, but on the flip side, I should have done a better reccy.
