  1. Mini Skid Steer Loader | eBay Depends on access and what you want to do. Chris
  2. Bet they were all in German cars as well.......
  3. Where abouts on the island are you, I can see most of it from where I'm typing this at home. We're not helped by being in North west Wales either, we may as well be on the Dark Side of the Moon as far as Cardiff is concerned. Chris
  4. Well if its flights of fantasy... Chip the brash in a big enough pile to have a coiled water pipe in it as you go and using the heat from the pile as it breaks down to heat a drying store. Then with some of your now dry logs you can make charcoal. Which means that.... Set up a gas producer to burn the volatile gases given off in a diesel generator, using the electricity to heat a timber built drying store. So producing charcoal as a by-product, safely getting rid of the gases and warming a store to dry the logs ...
  5. If you keep hitting something it will break eventualy... Some nice well seasoned oak wedges, for when something needs that bit of help. Or a battery drill, 25mm auger and some blasting gelatine and Roberts your Mothers brother. Look on the brightside it wasn't an eye or in the plums...
  6. Thank you David, The spores most likely being killed off by a pollutant, sulphur dioxide. Preseumably these spores are also present in the soil, as the winds around here mean we never see the fallen leaves... Chris Always taking the oppurtunity to learn.
  7. Out of interest, I have a Sycamore that is effected by the same disease. What actually causes the spots to form? Does it indicate other problems are likely to be developing? I can confirm the lack of air pollution, we have lichen growing every where up here, even in the middle of the public road.... Chris
  8. They walk amongst us.... Although sadly i'm no longer suprised by the ignorance of the masses, living in cosy bubbles as they do. Chris
  9. There are some pictures on the faceache page. https://www.facebook.com/LyngConkerTree/photos_stream?ref=page_internal Chris
  10. I get the impression WAG are in a flap over forestry at the moment. With the mass clear felling of Larch occuring in big parts of the country. Some money for replanting through Glastir. Not sure that any money is available for help with extraction. I'm in the mountains above Caernarfon and often think that more could be done with the local woods. Chris
  11. How long are the lengths? Might be better off selling them as beams... Jon might want a bit to bite on at the dentist.. good luck with that. Chris
  12. What about getting a local blacksmith to make you a set... They aren't complicated to make. To comply with PUWER and LOLER regs you could have them tested. Or find a company that will make them and test them as well. Around here we have Mona lifting. Get you what you want then, the chain is off the shelf after all. Chris
  13. Good work, glad you were able to call for outside help to his predicament. ;-)
  14. I take it the Boys in Blue have been informed. It may help with building a case. These people are truely the lowest form of scum, perhaps we should swap them for Syrian refugees? Certainly worth contacting the local media to draw attention to what occured. If some one has a cure for the travelling scrap metal collecting community? I'd be welcome to suggestions. Chris
  15. That is a far reaching question. Depends on many things, I think that examples of the local fruit trees, apple, pear, plum etc are important to represent a given area. But the one tree I would pick is the Hornbeam. The only one I know of around here is just outside Beddgelert.
  16. Any chance of some pictures of the actual tree? Being subjective rather than sentimental, if it does have the issues as described in the report and rembering that the surveyor can only report on what he can see rather than having been able to monitor the tree over a prolonged period. Safety has to comesbecomes before amenity value. If it was in a wood, then no problem, a village green next to a pub; potentially a lot of targets. Sadly in this day and age in comes down to risk management rather than it will be alright. Would the same villagers be so keen to keep the tree if took out there electric during a storm. I think what i'm trying to say is, the right tree in the right place. Shame as I do like a Horse Chesnut tree, makes a change to the Cessile Oaks and Ash around here.
  17. It was actually to make people aware of the changes to the tax credits system as a result of the introduction of Universal Credits. Which in a nutshell means balancing the cashflow or earn more than the threshold so you don't need them. Biggest effect if you have kids. As to the differences between our Colonial cousins and ourselves, two peoples seperated by a common language. The NHS is by no means perfect, but what they do with the resources available is amazing. The faults lie with the politicans rather than the medical staff. Chris I don't like popcorn, cheese on crackers for me. Proper Double Gloucester and Smoked Applewood cheddar none of that processed rubbish out of toothpaste tubes you get in the States...
  18. I think the only valid reply, is See you next Tuesday......... What a cheeky mare.
  19. The ironic thing is that my orginal post was to draw attention to how UC wil change the taxation system for everyone. In particular the changes that will effect those currently claiming child tax credits as you will need to prove monthly income and not fluctuate it across the year. This change is actually meant to encourage people to grow there business so that benefits are no longer required. Which really is only to be considered a good thing. low tax high income economy is to the benefit of everyone. Chris
  20. The rights and wrongs of benefits and the benefits system come in the same leauge as the West Lothian question.. Something for endless debate and counter arguement. Having been made aware of the issues surrounding the introduction of UC I felt others who may be affected would want to know, and talk it through with an accountant... Chris
  21. Dibond is good stuff, its used for making signs, amongst other things. I have used some to roof a new chicken shed for the wife, she calls it upcycling, I call it scrounging.
  22. Hello, Having read through the forum last night, I'm not sure if anyone has picked up on what the introduction of Universal Credit means.. Especially in this industry with a high percentage of self-employed. Not a problem if you make enough dough, but could be a real issue for others. Why the self-employed need to wake up to the threat posed by Universal Credit : RSA blogs Universal credit for the self-employed The above two articles make interesting reading, Chris
  23. Thats the book. Very useful reference book, for chainsaw milling.
  24. How much of a rush is your client in. I'm half an hour away or two days by wheel barrow. Would have some time towards the end of the month. Chris
