  1. Ha ha, great post. I like Marmite but wouldn't eat it neat. Cold pasta wouldn't light my fire either but if there was nowt else...
  2. Hey Murphy & welcome all. They're a friendly, knowledgable lot here. Did just the basic c/s & small trees at Kingswood recently & was great fun with good instructors. I'm guessing you're (ex) forces if doing the combo thing?
  3. How it used to work with cars is that you pay Tracker' or similar for the installation of the transmitter & an annual fee, not sure how how much. The transmitter constantly emits a low power/short range (couple of hundred yds) signal. If it gets stolen & once the owner tells the police & the tracker company, Tracker will only then remotely boost the signal from the stolen car to extend the range, probably to half a mile or so I think. Some police cars are tracker equipped & it pings up it their cars. Of course it depends upon the owner knowing in the first place that its been stolen. I used to enjoy going into the gipsy sites for any reason & never had a problem in the Met. Normally the thief would park it up for a day or so to see it was 'found' by having been fitted with a tracker so if it was still there after that he's know he was safe. If we had time we'd watch it once found & grab them when they came to collect.
  4. Warm & still here. Blooming hot overnight too.
  5. I don't do it often but my missus...had a Tunisian crying when she started. Next day she was pointed at in the market.
  6. Yup, found it under '1-10 points to make a good groundie' thanks but I did get distracted by Stihlben's pic of his new 'un, who looked pretty good to me.
  7. Being new to this work I just completed cs30/31. At the mo I'm not looking for employment but saw an ad here for a 'good groundie' & wondered what it meant. I guess keeping a step ahead of the climbers, generally clearing up & watching the tools for security (chasing off the chavs) & readiness for use. Is this about right? Goes without saying I'd be on tea making duties.
  8. I was had a few months ago:blushing:. Saw a Honda strimmer with serial nos on & the seller looked ok so agreed on £40 after seeing it running. Got home & ran it for a bit longer & the (glued in) spark plug jumped out. Went back the following couple of times to 'have a word' but didn't see him. Live & learn eh. Hasn't put me off these events but will certainly be more careful.
  9. Sorry, I thought it said picture in a dog. Anyway son no 1 found a picture but it wasn't a terrier.
  10. Well my son reckons he can see Jesus in his terriers arse. Obviously..no pics.
  11. Just read this whole thread with interest. Would it be best to empty fuel tanks they'll not be used for a while, to stop ethanol/moisture content doing it's worst?
  12. Looks like the final episode of Homeland. Good pic though.
  13. Things can only get better? Btw I always pictured you being the guy with long hair in your avatar.
  14. Hi. We're in the process of starting up & having just read Arbsafe it seems the thieves are alive & kicking. Just wondered if anyone has knowledge of how active the police are at stopping/checking serial nos etc at towed chippers etc. We have nothing yet worthy of fitting 'tracker' type kit but have photographed all equipment & stamped ID marks on them. Obviously the best thing is to prevent theft in the first place so measures/methods are in place & the workshop is almost fortresslike. Where do you think the stolen gear ends up & are they ****** & does stolen gear get sold on eBay?
  15. Great programme by Guy M. I was in a tower block near RAF Hendon years ago while a spit flew around below us. Can't beat that sound.
  16. Thanks for the replies, makes sense now. Gotta love this site. Its been like going to school but learning only about things I like...but know so little about.
  17. I did say there might :blushing:be some dumb questions. I saw this in a couple of thread that I can't now find. Googled it too without success so...whats a mewb please?
  18. Chipper?? Prob 2 guys who know how to use a machete.
  19. Readers wives...another thread? :001_rolleyes:Bugger...wrong site.
  20. Actually last week but... Was walking past the kiddies ball maze thing at a sports centre when there was a scream...then stampede of kids & parents. Turns out a grandmother wasn't quick enough to find her way in, after spotting her toddler grandson pulling his nappy aside & dumping all over the coloured balls. Got outside then howled like a freak & still laughing now.
  21. Hadn't thought of that but maybe a small, boat trailer type hand winch will do.
