  1. I'm not the one comparing. It's just a fact that you can't pay everyone the same. I was responding to eggs talking about his nephew being an upholsterer !!
  2. 😀😀 What's wrong with calling jobs what they are anyway?
  3. Sorry 😀😀 Can't do the brick thing though as I don't have a chipper😀😀😀
  4. Could you sweep in onto grass and then mow it up?
  5. That's 33k which is bloody good money, that is a skilled job more so than dragging brash. It seems that is in the range of what is being paid to climbers. It would be great if everyone could earn that money. However everything would go up in price to reflect this I think?
  6. Don't go less than £15 an hour
  7. How many cc do you need to run four lines?
  8. Companies can only pay at the rate the market dictates. If top money for a day's work is £500 (example) then if you have a climber and the boss and maybe someone dragging brash. That's 3 wages and running costs. Where can you get profit from that if you are paying people £20 an hour. Which I would consider to be a good wage for paye. I think that's why people are paying £10-£15 an hour. No point in the stress of running the business if your only covering costs!
  9. That shows how wrong the system is!! I don't blame said big suppliers they will take what they can and I would do the same.
  10. I must have been looking at the us site or I've misunderstood at some point !! Still the 300 series is enough for me I think as its not used all day every day. I don't know the weight difference I think I will look more carefully !!
  11. I'm looking a new one too but I'm thinking 300 series as I believe these have grease points and are 2 mix not 4 mix which I don't want. But the have the anti vibe that I want.
  12. I talking personal experience not what the papers say!! I had 1 lad last 1/2 a morning before he decided strimming is too much hard work!!
  13. Coles nursery Leicester
  14. If that works for you it's great I wish my customers were like that. But then I do garden maintenance so for me to say sometime in the next month is too long most of the time! One off jobs get told sometime next month or something like that!! I see your point
  15. That's ok but what happens when you have work booked in for yourself and for whatever reason your not done working for your dad?
  16. Door step sales rules I believe that you have to give 14 day cooling off period. To stop rogue traders.
  17. Will your dad not allow you to tier down your commitment at your "day" job as you increase your "private " work? As in go to a 4 day week then a 3 day week ....... Until you can manage full time on your own?
  18. Thanks it's just appeared on the edge of a conservation area that has just been cut back for winter.
  19. Anyone got any idea what this is please? Many thanks in advance
  20. You sound like one of the good young lads same can't be said for all in my experience
  21. Me too still not sure if it's a wind up though😀
  22. Not something I would do but it works for some I'm sure If you do that make sure you are looking smart !!
  23. Depends what you are doing? You need to cover all costs plus wages and some profit or you might as well stay working with your dad
  24. Good post
  25. Might have been a good price but you need the money for what you will use now! A website for example. You buying that mower is like me buying a chipper for the 1 time a year it might prove useful!
