  1. Living half a mile from lincoln county hospital I have lots of doctors as clients. They all bar non say the same thing. Too many managers interfering. Keeping staff in meetings instead of seeing patients. So you are right in that bin the managers (or at least the ones that are simply there to collect a big pay cheque!)
  2. Couldn’t the same be said of ALL public sectors? Police, fire service, teachers the military, local government etc etc. They all cost and don’t “make” money. The navy buying carriers they can’t afford planes for is one example I was talking about last night with someone from the RAF. Why bin the harriers and eventually get some of these new planes. Councils paying out compensation for broken wheels instead of fixing the potholes. The police chasing motorists instead of finding a workers stolen tools. Ofsted changing things constantly so money that could buy equipment or books or extra teachers is spent on changing things. Can you really compare the public and private sector? I’m not so sure
  3. It’s only for 8 months a year and being really honest it’s more like 5 as school is 845-330. So usually start at 930 ish and done for 245.
  4. Fair play. Doing that kind of mileage deserves a good rate anyway! There was a time I’d do 100 mile round trip a day but no longer viable as my work day is only 6 hours (part time I know but suits me as I like collecting kids from school everyday) Besides that I hate driving these days so a 3 mike radius for me!
  5. There is a big chunk of money spent making your £200 plus day rate At government mileage rates that £90. If you work within 15-20 miles £150 won’t seem so bad
  6. It’s bad I agree. It’s just as bad that it takes “months of discussion” to pick a sign for a village hall imo. Then if they are like the parish councils around here they want it yesterday once they have finally decided!
  7. Killing 6 trees out of 100ha is hardly going to make much difference to the canopy is it?
  8. They do say that but it’s rubbish! Use any decent oil properly mixed and they will be fine. Or aspen or the like
  9. Are you being deliberately dim? Farmers want to be paid enough for the product. The people of this country want ridiculously cheap food, it can’t work well both ways. Go buy a farm and see how long you could make it pay WITH the subsidy. To add I personally don’t care what happens now. Farming is dead in my family. I’ll buy about 5 acres with a property when I find the right one but not to work it as a farm
  10. For reason already stated I don’t think they will fall. So again owners won’t care as they own it and will simply either stop producing or let it go wild (since they are all so rich they don’t need more money) 2 the uk is small and they are not making any more land that I can see. 3 all these immigrants need housing so it could get built on 4 prices would rise making your argument pointless anyway. But it will cause yet more problems for tenant farmers as landowners wont want to accept less rent. If you actually took in what I said you would see that I’m not against subsidies being scrapped! I just can’t see it working that’s all
  11. I don’t think it would make any difference to land prices. People with mortgages could not afford to sell. Outright owners wouldn’t care. To add it would be tenants that would be screwed again! Besides that we are in the small uk. Not the states or Russia where land is plentiful
  12. It is wrong but it would completely fall apart(certainly for the small farms) at the moment without some protection. Growing up we never were tenants thankfully. (well the bank could be seen as owner!) but that meant the best part of 30 years being poor (dad and grandad borrowed £400k in 1970) once it was paid for he was that fed up of it (grandad dead by that point too! close to losing it quite a few times) he sold 75% and things have obviously been fine since then. A long road though. It probably makes not far off now money wise diversified and a lot smaller than “farming” it ever did. He’s mid 70s now but won’t dare to stop in case times get hard again (even though he doesn’t need any more money) That’s why farmer bashing pisses me off (not aimed at you just in general)
  13. Are you sure that’s right Kevin? According to matey boy all farmers are worth at least a couple of million!
  14. I don’t think anyone believes that “custodians” bit anymore. It’s intensive farming (for most anyway) to try and make it pay.
  15. They do tax those things it’s called VAT! but you’re right when you say food is too cheap. Which goverment only wants one term so kills farming subsidies?
  16. Both right and wrong! Yes he’s a farmer but no longer actually “farms” in the traditional sense and strangely he does pay business rates but don’t let little facts get in the way of your narrative. As for subsidies I’ve already mentioned at least twice that getting rid would be ok if the problem of getting a decent price for produce could be sorted. I think it would be brilliant idea to make all food really expensive and then see how much people moan about that[emoji16]Ban imports until our food has been used. So imports only as a top up to cover the shortfall. That last paragraph is not a joke btw
  17. Yes I agree life not fair[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]
  18. Brilliant why didn’t we vote you into power. All would be solved! I wonder how you would cure immigration [emoji848]
  19. That just shows how little an idea you have of how the business works. The few are worth £2 million plus (along with fewer that are worth a lot more than that!) I didn’t say they were hard done by! As usual you don’t take in anything anyone else says and have you pre conceived idea that can’t be budged! Put rates on farms stop subsidies but pay proper money for food an all will be well.
  20. Maybe there should be a minimum price for all produce instead that far exceeds today’s prices So that farmers got paid enough to actually farm instead of diversification into storage, car boot sales etc etc. Not government backed as a subsidy in all but name but minimum farm gate prices that buyers have to pay with the full cost then paid for by the consumer. Doubt it would work as people won’t like paying £2.50 for a loaf of bread or £5 for a small bag of potatoes. The subsidies subsidise everyone not just the farmers. As for the big grain farmers thats one of the reasons the system is wrong. But also where a lot of the food comes from. I know a lot of farmers who would prefer proper prices instead of subsidy!
  21. And this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bart-Simpson-face-head-unique-natural-tree-trunk-sculpture-/323109322472

  23. https://getjobber.com/industries/ I don’t know if this would work for you? Worth a look though
  24. https://www.newsnow.co.uk/classifieds/cars-vans-for-sale/land-rover-defender-130-tipper-for-sale.html Seem to be a few for sale don’t know how good they would be.
  25. It was a question! The point being if you want to think like that is 1/2 a tonne or so is not much and very easily overloaded. It’s all very well saying the truck pulls the weight fine but it’s not about making it move it’s making it stop that the issue.
