  1. It is wrong but it would completely fall apart(certainly for the small farms) at the moment without some protection. Growing up we never were tenants thankfully. (well the bank could be seen as owner!) but that meant the best part of 30 years being poor (dad and grandad borrowed £400k in 1970) once it was paid for he was that fed up of it (grandad dead by that point too! close to losing it quite a few times) he sold 75% and things have obviously been fine since then. A long road though. It probably makes not far off now money wise diversified and a lot smaller than “farming” it ever did. He’s mid 70s now but won’t dare to stop in case times get hard again (even though he doesn’t need any more money) That’s why farmer bashing pisses me off (not aimed at you just in general)
  2. Are you sure that’s right Kevin? According to matey boy all farmers are worth at least a couple of million!
  3. I don’t think anyone believes that “custodians” bit anymore. It’s intensive farming (for most anyway) to try and make it pay.
  4. They do tax those things it’s called VAT! but you’re right when you say food is too cheap. Which goverment only wants one term so kills farming subsidies?
  5. Both right and wrong! Yes he’s a farmer but no longer actually “farms” in the traditional sense and strangely he does pay business rates but don’t let little facts get in the way of your narrative. As for subsidies I’ve already mentioned at least twice that getting rid would be ok if the problem of getting a decent price for produce could be sorted. I think it would be brilliant idea to make all food really expensive and then see how much people moan about that[emoji16]Ban imports until our food has been used. So imports only as a top up to cover the shortfall. That last paragraph is not a joke btw
  6. Yes I agree life not fair[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]
  7. Brilliant why didn’t we vote you into power. All would be solved! I wonder how you would cure immigration [emoji848]
  8. That just shows how little an idea you have of how the business works. The few are worth £2 million plus (along with fewer that are worth a lot more than that!) I didn’t say they were hard done by! As usual you don’t take in anything anyone else says and have you pre conceived idea that can’t be budged! Put rates on farms stop subsidies but pay proper money for food an all will be well.
  9. Maybe there should be a minimum price for all produce instead that far exceeds today’s prices So that farmers got paid enough to actually farm instead of diversification into storage, car boot sales etc etc. Not government backed as a subsidy in all but name but minimum farm gate prices that buyers have to pay with the full cost then paid for by the consumer. Doubt it would work as people won’t like paying £2.50 for a loaf of bread or £5 for a small bag of potatoes. The subsidies subsidise everyone not just the farmers. As for the big grain farmers thats one of the reasons the system is wrong. But also where a lot of the food comes from. I know a lot of farmers who would prefer proper prices instead of subsidy!
  10. https://getjobber.com/industries/ I don’t know if this would work for you? Worth a look though
  11. https://www.newsnow.co.uk/classifieds/cars-vans-for-sale/land-rover-defender-130-tipper-for-sale.html Seem to be a few for sale don’t know how good they would be.
  12. It was a question! The point being if you want to think like that is 1/2 a tonne or so is not much and very easily overloaded. It’s all very well saying the truck pulls the weight fine but it’s not about making it move it’s making it stop that the issue.
  13. How much payload can these pickups with tippers actually have left? Can’t be much as they only have a tonne or Thereabouts without the tipping gear and sides etc. Put 2 people and tools in what’s left? 500kg?
  14. That’s why you use duck duck as a browser! Good enough to keep your Mrs (or Mum) from seeing what sites you are visiting:)
  15. Not sure on repair it’s not my kind of thing at all. As for a place there are several good quality engineering shops in lincoln that could do the job. worth asking I suppose but with travel, the repair it would probably be expensive.
  16. Some good places here in lincoln that would be able to do the job but maybe a bit far. I would have thought you would find somewhere in derby or if not Nottingham
  17. I tried with the bg86 and was a bit rubbish. The bg700 was good as long as it wasn’t too compacted.
  18. Sexual perversions wasn’t what I was thinking Matelot was using it for if I’m honest his views on that seem clear enough from his posts! More the hard right websites that will no doubt be being monitored by the police/government type people? Just a thought
  19. Ok silly me that’s all right then[emoji106]
  20. Duck duck is a browser designed to stop people tracking what websites you visit! Why would you need that unless you are looking at some ugly stuff?
  21. It also begs the question that if these places are terrible because the people living there are stupid (or insert your own term for the locals) why would we want them here anyway?
  22. He is, but if you were to believe him then the locals over “there” are too stupid to build infrastructure that’s why it’s ok [emoji16]
  23. I keep it like washed fortnightly, but not to that standard it has to be said! Dealer does this mid season and end of season as it goes in for new blades and any bits that need doing in July when I go away for a week. It was fairly dirty this time as I used it 2 weeks ago and it got muddy as ground was sodden. Too wet really but the customer is “always” right as they say! This was a big service this time with new cylinders/blades all round, new ram pins, arm pins bushes etc all new tyres. Well worth it as it looks good and works properly.
  24. Mine has just come back from service this morning Not a stigma but it’s looking ready for the season now[emoji3]
  25. Local garages are between 40 and 60 an hour here. Main dealers I dread to think!
