  1. You need to learn to resharpen correctly. If your not interested or can't be bothered a worthwhile investment would be a drill sharpening device which can cheaply be picked up from ebay or wherever.
  2. As has been said, tyres is everything.... nearly. The 4x4's are always dragging something in the mud and ruts (diffs, trailer hitch, cross members etc.) without a trailer so it can only get worse with. Buy the tractor; using a proper tool allows you to enjoy rather than endure your day!
  3. If the valves have taken hammer then you will need to change the valve guides. Beware here as you need an 8.05mm reamer to provide enough thermal expansion clearance. If you don't the valves will fit but once run for a few miles the guides will snatch the stems and pop goes your weasel. Don't ask how I know all this ....................... but it just so happens I have the reamer!!!
  4. Why does the 261 get so much slating? I have one for doing firewood, granted not hard core arb work and really like it. Yes I've read the clutch bearing goes but once a year or so put a new one in (£10) as a service part and off you go again. Weight and balance feels good so whats wrong with it?.
  5. speeds just now @ 1.3 on 3 using the laptop wireless off my mobile. Unlimited downloads all inclusive with phone minutes etc. £36/mth.
  6. Why didn't you fit them with a bit of thermal expansion?
  7. Very nice, lucky lad. Some you win some you lose glad it worked out for you.
  8. Yes which is it? Palms away would be a lot harder
  9. Can I take the braces. Pm me how you want paying for postage, cheers.
  10. Landrover parts are generally far cheaper than Japanese but then you don't need Japanese parts so often so they work out the same price
  11. Yes not good but this isn't just a landrover problem; worst one I've had was a customers Mercedes. When returning it to the company car owner the auto gearbox changed at the wrong time and on over rev pop went the valve head totally shagging the engine. Fortunately for me the car had been back to the main dealers a few months earlier for this fault so I was off the hook............... PHEW!
  12. Points and condenser fully understandable no smoke and mirrors a lot to be said for old world technology! Look what happened with the army landrovers when they went to TD5. Funny how the 300 tdi came back into service
  13. Excellent post, very informative.
  14. Nicely done (the tree and vid) and I thought the alternative take on the music was fitting.
  15. In the diesel trade they got the moniker "knackered Navara" for good reason. Like the looks personally but wouldn't buy one. Think ironically that the bigger output engine is the safer option if my memory serves me right.
  16. So the outcome doing it your way would mean lower interest payments for them. Thinking this way maybe now you can see the reluctance to comply with your wishes. They (mortgage providers) are just parasites!

    ooops

A STAINLESS STEEL wire brush is a must! Most normal brushes are mild steel and this will just contaminate the surface and create a black residue.

    3 phase

Have to disagree - an inverter is not the best option! A rotary convertor is by far a more time proven long lived repairable item. With an inverter you get the bonus of variable speed control. This sounds great but unfortunately this has an inverse connection to the torque value in an ideal world; high speed high torque, low speed low torque. What good is that?
  20. Looks good thanks, might go if I'm free; Blue Force 1000
  21. As an old landrover fan I have to smile when you see them going down the road with the sticker; "one life, live it" Well if they got rid of the landrover they might be able to as otherwise they will have no time due to always be mending it!
  22. Excellent pics truly big boys tonka toys.

    3 phase

I have a digiphase that powers a lathe and a metal saw. Think mine max's about 3hp but they do bigger ones. The company link is here and I have no connection other than being a satisfied customer; Digi-Phase They are very helpful and will freely advise.
  24. I can't see this hole causing concern but the casting seems quite a poor effort, read cheap. If it works fine then as said alter mixture and just use it. I have seen many air cooled motorbikes work for years with cooling fin defects, snapped off etc. and never been a problem.
