  1. Want a job batwoman??
  2. I can manage roasted cheese on toast if wife is on strike...but she does it better.jake
  3. Possibly the guy sharpening the blades is rushing the job and taking too much metal off in one go resulting in excess heat in teeth.which would soften teeth.look for any blue or black tinges on teeth when the blades return.jake
  4. I would go for a roof mounted crane as opposed to a Jake plate.to maintain full use of three point linkage..front linkage and PTO also good for mounting winch and chipper with trailer on back.depends on budget as add one get expensive.if more than one tractor is available it makes it more flexible and cheaper but needs multi drivers!!
  5. At least you got a pound for your trouble.I just find old horseshoes these days
  6. Waiting for rain to stop and then deliver some logs.now the first snow has come things are getting busty:thumbup:
  7. logs can i get a lift .
  8. if at full lift on the three point linkage you find the table too low then cut 2 rounds and back tractor onto them, cheap mod easilly reversed.jake:thumbup:

  16. ah ha for once spud is without the answer.... beaten by a simple tattie!!
  17. the way i would deal with this situation is,,,,, ask the client to seek tree owners permission to carry out the work. then when i arrive on site gather both parties together and explain to both what is about to happen.if both parties agree start the saws and chipper and carry on..if there is no agreement then i light a cigarette and retreat to van for a cuppa and let the two reason it out.. if a shouting match starts or they cannot agree i then leave the site.you must have the tree owners permission to cross the boundary and ,although there is scope to remove branches that encroach into your property but only back to the boundary line.and you need to offer your neighbour the arisings if they want them!
  18. poshe 360 +log deck splitmater 30 manitou 1235 john deere tractor wit crane and front linkage oh and a bobcat skidsteer to load splitmaster and i only cut about 500 tons a year300 for me and 200 for cutomers
  19. if using chainsaw the idea of skidding logs around yard with winch not a good idea as you will be forever sharpening chain, better to use loader to lift and stack logs in line and back splitter into logs and split.i have a splitmaster 30 with 8 way wedge and it loves softwood.you will then need stillages to stack timber in ,and move with loader once splitting complete.the less manual handling the better!
  20. A couple of weekends for in experienced operators to process 100 tons of large diameter firewood no chance .I have a hundred grand of machinery and wouldn't even try.use processor friendly softwood and maybe.why waste hardwood on biomass?.jake
  21. Try eve trackway for a hire quote .sake
  22. my answer for mechanical assistance is the winch on the tractor .
  23. im quite heave too about 20 stone so i am restricted to being the counterweight when lowering.tried climbing once managed to get 3 foot up the tree and then ate a whole lot of humble pie and managed to get my climber to stop laughing and start climbing again. i think it was the suggestion that he remove another branch after he had descended to ground level that upset him....moody bunch:laugh1:!!!1
  24. get a tp im 20 stone and walk all over mine use it as a ladder to get into trailer,if i cant bend it i would be scared to see the man who can....jake:thumbup:
