  1. I'm slowly getting the hang of it but I'm not very tech savvy. I hit the folded page icon and press the activity button and I can see what's going on. Much easier to start a new thread. I don't feel like I've scratched the surface yet. Looking forward to the app when it comes out.

    560xp. V. Ms361

    Oops I meant ms391 !!!!!
  3. One of our daily use 560xp,s suffered scored pot and piston the other day and due to its age we decided we won't repair it. We've inherited a hardly used ms361 in good condition. Is this saw a viable replacement? Would love to hear people's opinions and experiences with this saw. thanks
  4. I've only ever done one of them. Challenging job. Like cutting through steel. Good work mate. Bet you'll sleep well tonight.
  5. I thought they were going to use the plywood to build a chip box for it ....
  6. Well amended mr J. Almost reminds me of another politician who used similar methods with similar results, I think it was in Europe in the thirties. Both share the same affiliations in the Middle East too, Bad news all round if you ask me... The people in the Munich beer halls and British music festivals seem to love it though..., [emoji48]☠️ Timon.
  7. 560 runs an 18" bar very nicely. We have a 441, I never put the 560 down and pick up the 441. Gave up on the 261 a long time ago. Stihl excel at a lot of things but the 261 isn't one of them. Timon.
  8. I wonder how many votes he garnered by promising to "deal with it" . Or whatever it was he said about existing debt. It would certainly be interesting to know how many people voted for him on this issue. He is very, very shrewd when it comes to gathering votes. He proved this when he was elected leader of the party. Ignore him at your peril.... Timon.
  9. It is confusing. I remember reading that an AG reg vehicle is okay for Arb work until you start using it for "haulage" I.e chip and arisings. Forestry and horticulture purposes are ok as well I think but I'm not sure if mileage restrictions apply. Domestic Arb while running on red is asking for trouble because that's when they want to impound the vehicle and squeeze the revenue they believe has been evaded. By running on white I believe you take the potential sting out of the situation. Provided the vehicle is in good order I think it is unlikely that they would press you too hard on the discrepancies of vehicle classification. Maybe... Timon.
  10. Now that the euphoria of Glastonbury has worn off....... Reality kicks in. [emoji849]🤥 Timon.
  11. We ran our Mog on white but it was AG registered (we already had an ops licence for other trucks). When we got dipped by HMRC/DVSA and they saw we were running on white they went straight on their way satisfied with no further questions. I guess pouncing on a Mog could be a daunting prospect for a roadside check. [emoji106] Timon.

Sad news. Hope you have a full and quick recovery. Best wishes and prayers for him and his family. Timon.
  13. Happy Birthday Jonny. Hope it's a good un. [emoji106] Timon.
  14. Touché mon ami! [emoji41] Timon.
  15. Not at all... I really value the firms that quote sky high expensive..... Timon.
  16. I don't disagree with you on pricing regards having a bigger set up. We've downsized a bit in the last year, sold the Mog and in the process of selling the pto chipper. We've always had 3.5t tippers and a TW 150 along with a smaller van or Hilux for the kit and quoting etc.. My point, really , was that it is usually the teams running lean with overloaded 3.5t set ups that quote at the cheaper end of the domestic market de-valuing the industry, so to speak. Timon.
  17. Therein lies the real question at the heart of this issue. Quote for work cheaper because you run an illegal 3.5t set up and circumnavigate the costs of a legal (bigger) set up. OR bite the bullet by training drivers with HGV and towing licences, get an OPS licence and bigger truck and hope that the increased capacity and efficiency pays off. We all know that until the authorities have a serious crackdown on overloading in the ARB industry things will remain as they are and this debate will run and run. We should all agree that no serious Treeworks can be done in a 3.5t while remaining legal unless all your work consists of 0.5m reductions [emoji857] Timon.
  18. Iveco 6.5t crewcab tippers have 7 seats and can carry 3.5t payload + chipper. This is the best option for us. Timon.
  19. How about this one Don? If it's good enough for Beranek........ [emoji30][emoji30] Timon.
  20. Your set up is one of the best I've seen, Dave. Especially the remote controlled crane picks straight from the tree into the trailer. Timon.
  21. We did a job with a flatbed transit (borrowed from our landscaping crew) as our chipper and truck went down at the same time. We went and did a couple of small jobs with it, medium conifer removals and some ash reductions. Left all the cuts quite big and tied everything on. Was a lot easier and quicker than I thought it was going to be. Wouldn't like to work like that every day but realised that it's easy to complicate jobs and business. Timon.
  22. Gutted for you. Hope you can get it back in one piece. Timon.
  23. Like Marc says. Stretching it really helps. I tie one end round a tree walk the reel out and tie the other end to a stick and stretch it, spending some time doing this will help. There should be a loop in the cube to tie the tail end of the line to as well which should help a bit as well. It's horrible when the tangle fairy strikes! [emoji37][emoji35][emoji36] Timon.
  24. If Harrods did trees.......... Timon.
  25. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/16/john-mcdonnell-insists-jeremy-corbyns-election-pledge-wipe-student/amp/ I wonder if any students who voted for Corbyn feel mugged off yet?? Timon.
