  1. Chris.. Ours is a 1250AG with a GM220 9" chipper. 6 ton Boughton winch on the front. Our own mechanic does the checks and work on it.
  2. Chipper must have good lungs to blow the chip right to the back of the trailer! Useful tool.
  3. We have an O licence and run ours on white....,,. We had our tank dipped a couple of months ago by customs. Came out of nowhere while we were chipping.
  4. Insurance is no more than a seven 1/2. Fuel is a factor especially since a pto chipper will have to run on white diesel with the mog (no red diesel in a mog for arb). To be honest ours is quiet thirsty but again so is a lorry. We landed on our feet with ours and have only spent on routine maintenance. We just bought a set of 4 tyres (speed rated continentals for £1670) Parts are expensive, but isn't everything these days. We spent more keeping an LDV tipper on the road last last year before it finally died.
  5. Definitely the best move we ever made. (We do similar work). It's important to locate a good mechanic Agricultural , plant or HGV who isn't going to be scared of it. I find ours adapts very well to domestic arb. I wouldn't want to reverse a seven 1/2 truck and chipper up a back alley to get to the rear of a house. It's surprising where you can squeeze a mog. I would really hate to be without ours.
  6. Nice couple of mogs there Paul.
  7. No that was a different tree Our job yesterday. (Still need to go and finish it)
  8. Nice one Joe, Looking forward to giving SRT a go. Need to get e wrench or similar first though. Think I'll get some straps.....
  9. Same as Old Mill, waist dead tight and leg loops loose otherwise any kit you hang on it will pull it down to your ankles.... Am thinking of getting the shoulder straps for it. Has anyone on here tried them and are they any good?
  10. Was hoping to have it all on the deck and done today. But.... Oh well! Live and learn. To be honest I thought it would be like a big conifer....... Not quite We were going to strip it and fell the top half but the wind was too much. Oh well you win some.........
  11. I think everyone here would agree with you, Stephen. The fact that it's blowing a gale doesn't help either. Timon
  12. Strong gusts here now Jon. Timon
  13. Apart from the ivy.
  14. Today's job..... Ivy covered monkey puzzle to remove Rhino skin gloves all round. More pics to follow
  15. Hi Jon , brightening up here in Brum mate. Was heavy rain and hail. Timon
  16. If it's just the seals it shouldn't be too bad. A good plant fitter would replace them in a morning. All of the JCB telehandlers I've used are 4 speed.
  17. Nice post Mike, like your take on it. Sometimes we need to declare war on certain things in life. Especially the stuff that sucks the life out of us. Timon
  18. Used to use one when I drove them for a living. If it's for occasional use in the yard then providing it's in reasonable nick should be fine. The one I used had gear lever on the floor and separate mast and fork carriage levers as opposed to column change and joystick so it wasn't that nice to drive. If your not in it all day every day it should be fine for a yard machine. If you going to spend a fair bit of time in it try and find one with the modern controls as they are much quicker and easier. Hope this helps Timon
  19. If they are clean take them to your nearest timber merchant and ask him to run them through his circular saw. Offer of a small fee should suffice.
  20. Pete, We'll be there.. Might bring the mog and 220 pto down for you to see. It is the backbone of our business. We're only up the road in Alvechurch. Did you get the pics I sent to your email? Timon
  21. I've had a couple of pairs of hi flex.. Never again. I've had SIP freedoms. Excellent ground trousers, very hard wearing. Now on my second pair of SIP progress. I'm really hard on them and they cope really well. Comfy and durable in the tree.
  22. Thanks for this, I'll check the saw and get back to you via PM thanks
  23. In short... A bit of both. I think the piston and barrel are ok. We had a couple of scoring casualties on older saws so we've switched to motomix or aspen. Thinking of a muffler mod and a good service then. What area are you and would it be ok to send it to you?. (I'll confirm the piston is ok first) we're in Birmingham South .
  24. Nice one Steve.... A very worthwhile venture..
  25. Hi Spud, We've got a Stihl 441 that is very lacklustre. Is this something you could work on? It's about 5 years old. Thanks
