  1. ahhhh, so the thousands of east Europeans in the UK selling the "Big Issue" are a "net gain to the economy"? I'll have to thank the local Romanian Big Issue seller for her generosity in coming to the UK to help our economy. Perhaps you should take your rose tinted glasses off?
  2. I 100% agree. But do you not think a substantial number of immigrants "negatively impact" on British life? Why should I be expected to pay tax so that people that have nothing to do with Britain can roll up and get free healthcare/benefits/housing/schooling? Why should I have to wait months for a hospital appointment when immigrants get £25k a years worth of HIV treatment? Why should I have to watch the news and see repeated stories about immigrants that want to kill British people?
  3. How many Brits have went to fight for ISIS in Syria? About 700 now? You really think a "toe punt to the balls" will stop them? We've already had one beheading in London, it's more than likely it will happen again..... I personally find it terrifying that so many Brits identify with a regime that burns people alive and sells girls into slavery... Living standards used to be crap in Britain as well. Is it not up to the populations of other countries to try and improve their living conditions? Why should British people have their benefits cut so that foreigners can come to this country and get free housing/ benefits etc? Do you not think the standard of living would improve in a lot of countries if they stopped slaughtering each other? Or is it somehow britains fault that there is always a civil war in Africa?
  4. sorry, but why does it make other countries miserable when I go out and buy a pair of jeans and a washing machine? Are Islamic State beheading people because people in the West fancy a new car every couple of years? perhaps if we never imported nurses/ doctors/ engineers from the third world these places would be a bit happier.... I saw a programme on the telly that said 85% of Jamaican graduates emigrated....
  5. Farage is the only politician that understands the concerns of the man on the street. to be frank, it's unbelievable that British people struggle to get some medical treatments while we give foreigners HIV treatment. The main thing British politicians should do is look after the interests of British people... most of them seem hell bent on giving free housing/benefits/healthcare to people that have nothing to do with this country.
  6. I've planted leylandii because I think they look nice as well. However it seems a lot of hassle to hire a jcb and transplant them... It has to be cheaper to cut your existing ones down and buy 12 inch ones from the garden centre...
  7. sounds an interesting scheme. does this mean you are breaking down flood defences to allow the land to flood during heavy rain etc? i don't know where the water table will be, but how about "mounding"? that's when you get an excavator to dig divots out of the ground and place them soil side up. the trees will be a bit higher up and wont have weed competition.
  8. does your local councillor have a drop in surgery? you could go along and show him some pictures of the trees. tbh, if the trees are dangerous and over a footpath i think you have a moral duty to tell the council... at the meeting you could ask how to tender for future work.
  9. By any chance do you smoke pot and wear sandals?
  10. Just to confirm, was your post aimed at me?
  11. perhaps it would be better if people explained why they disagreed with Nigel/ UKIP? From what I see of the EU it is an undemocratic organisation that sucks money from Britain and gives us lots of red tape. We don't seem to get a lot of benefit from it? Regarding immigration, well we've all seen the terrorist attacks and the hundreds of Brits going to Syria to fight. We've also been to the GP's surgery and seen the amount of immigrants waiting for treatment.... perhaps the NHS would be less of a mess if we never had to treat so many foreigners... Well done Nigel for questioning what we get from the EU/ immigration.
  12. I honestly think Nigel/ UKIP are the best thing for UK politics for the last 50 years. He's opened up the debate on the benefits of the EU and mass immigration....
  13. Both? I've always thought that if I planted the right tree in the right spot that fertiliser wouldn't matter. But I can see the advantages if fertiliser gets a tree above the weeds and gives it greater girth (protection against browsing).
  14. I was wondering if anyone used fertiliser on trees they have planted? If you have have you noticed a difference in growth rates?
  15. you really think MPs/ Parliament/ civil servants couldn't use their time more productively than amending legislation to allow a 4 year old to cycle on a pavement?
  16. Who picked the fruit and veg before the East Europeans then? Perhaps your local farm has Polish workers because they will do the job for the least money? The good thing about Farage is that he has started a debate on the EU and immigration, before UKIP there was no party against the EU and mass immigration.
  17. I have to admit that I think Labour have turned their back on their traditional supporters in the last decades (the working classes). They opened the floodgates to East europeans who are undercutting wages and taking jobs.. Labour deserve a kicking at the polls. The only party that talks sense is UKIP/Farage.....
  18. why not go to one of the big land agents like Bell Ingram/ Strutt and Parker/ Knight Frank? They have plenty people that could advise you. Why do you want to remove tree stumps? Could you not just leave them to rot? Unless they are in a garden or I had to build something over them I personally would leave them. Or if I really wanted them gone I would get a JCB in.
  19. A lot of rich people buy farmland/forestry so that their heirs don't have to pay inheritance tax. This means the value of farmland is really pumped up. If the government ever changes inheritance tax legislation the value of farmland will plummet. The people that I know that own land get fairly cr4p rents from their land. Hardly enough to cover fencing costs.
  20. what is the fencing like? a new stock fence is circa £4 per linear metre (Admittedly the costs should be shared with neighbouring landowners). if you have the spare cash I say go for it nothing beats planting trees/ digging wildlife ponds etc.
  21. How many do you have to cull? What deer density do you want to achieve? Do you notice much difference in tree regeneration the more deer you shoot?
  22. I have to admit that I think the environmental aspects of kiln dried would put a lot of consumers off. I certainly wouldn't buy wood that has been dried by burning other wood, and I certainly wouldn't buy wood that has been transported from East Europe....
  23. I just hope that UKIP will be here for the foreseeable future. For the last decades there has been little to differentiate Labour/Tories. They are both in love with the EU and want more immigration. At least now you can vote for UKIP if you are against the EU/ mass immigration/ allowing terrorists to stay in the UK.
  24. yeah, every environmental problem you can think of is made worse by increasing population. it is about time that we started discouraging people to have kids (especially the people that can't be bothered working). we should also stop giving money to the third world until they start reducing their populations. in 1985 the population of Ethiopia was 41 million, in 2010 it was 83million. It's just not sustainable.... they are chopping down so many hundred thousand acres each year for firewood. I've given money to a charity called "populationmatters" that campaigns on these matters.
  25. we really do need a "like" button here.
