  1. I would check the anvil and roller box plate that goes on the front of the flywheel housing. Prior to owning our current 280s a tracked and road tow. I had a 230 tracked and we wore a curve in the front roller box plate in less than three years. Which is best part of £3k repair. Our rollers were also struggling to feed and always caught on the anvil on the left hand side of the roller. Stopping the rollers feeding. Currently our 280s are two months old one with around 80 hours and one with 30 hours. The tracked one is a brilliant chipper although we have had lots of problems with it. All of which have been sorted straight away and directly through Timberwolf Suffolk. Although currently the right hand track sometimes doesn’t want to engage on tick over and you have to increase the revs to make it work. This should be sorted soon. The road tow one has been fine, no problems whatsoever apart from the mudguards which are crap. They should of kept the old design that was on the 190. I can understand why they changed them but they are flimsy rubbish. I will be custom fitting something else soon. I also have a schliesing 400u on my mog. The list of problems are non! I would go direct to Timberwolf Suffolk Good luck
  2. Hi joe, How many hours on it?
  3. I’ve recently upgraded our 230 tracked and old 150 road tow to a 280 tracked and 280 road tow. The reason behind this was we wore the 230 out in three years. I originally bought the 230 tracked one as I thought it would be a bit more heavy duty than the sub 750kg road tow version because weight wasn’t a factor as it had to go on a trailer to site anyway, but we managed to wear the front flywheel plate that much it put a curve in it. In 700 hours use. To be fair we did try and feed as much timber through it as possible because it just eats it. They do punch well above their weight. But there lies the problem. The build strength isn’t there to cope with the processing ability it has. If you compare the sub 750kg 230 road tow or tracked chipper with the metal work on the 280 there is a massive difference in size and strength. In my experience I would go for strength and Longevity rather than reduced weight for the for the sub750kg class.
  4. Happy new year mate. Looking fit big man [emoji123]?

    Tree Topping

Lovely looking job Reg. There’s nothing better than knocking off a big top especially when the winds blowing. Makes you feel alive. How many do you generally manage to knock out in a day out of interest.? What were the sticks being used for?
  10. Ours are fine, we can chat away while chipping or on the saw all day long. If you get the noise cancelling mic with it they work a treat.
  11. Bit of moggin, removing a couple of chestnuts, and deadwooding some pops and lime trees for a client. Then cedar reduction. Nice bit of lungeing from one of the lads showing some Good length on that one [emoji38]
  12. I don’t use them on protos but they will fit to any helmet setup.
  13. Sena comms, 10r are the ones you want. IMG_3861.JPG
  14. Srt is definitely the way forward. I’m a self taught srt climber. Mainly from what I’ve read about and watched from the pioneers of srt. I’ve been climbing srt for about 6 years now on and off, switching between ddrt. I find it compliments my climbing style far more than ddrt. At first I used to always revert to ddrt because i thought that srt was only useful on big trees needing easier access, but Once I got my head around it and worked it out it’s actually pretty simple with loads more possibilities of working a tree. If the colleges started training srt as a bonifide way to climb the lads coming through wouldn’t need to worry about learning the new techniques they would already have the ability to switch to any scenario while prolonging their climbing career. I personally try to encourage my lads to try it and use different methods.
  15. Looking fit as a fiddle mate [emoji106]
  16. Try lister wilder they have them in my local depot.
  17. Vague memories of 86 and my dad shouting at the tv. First real memories of Italia 90 and platts winner against the belgiums. After that I was hooked. And now I thought it only fair to subject my boys and girl to the world of football to share in the grief of supporting England.
  18. Great saws, lovely balance and smooth power. Look after it and it will last as long as you want it.
  19. Bulldog bone and a 60m cougar orange [emoji521] rope for srt and a zig zag and 45m blue tongue for ddrt. Generally try to srt as much as possible as its soooooo much easier.

  21. Just had a quick look through, looks like ag mog owners using solely for ag, Hort or forestry are exempt from the new changes?
  22. Hi squaredy, looks a bit Micky mouse to me mate. As all the pictures on the listing were originally taken by myself. So if the prospective seller was selling the genuine article they would of used said article and taken their own piccies. I swapped it for £6000+vat and I know Greg wanted at least £6000 when he sold it on so the buy it now price is around the right mark but it doesn’t sit right with me either. Call the guy and ask to meet to exchange goods for cash If he blanks you it’s bollocks [emoji106]
  23. That’s what I did, as I have had the timber trailer and a tractor forwarder and found that I needed something a bit quicker on the road to get to jobs faster and comfier, and with more lift capacity on the crane. So I went bigger and got a mog and purpose built mog trailer with hiab as I have the lift capacity to pick up whatever I want. I think you will probably find the small fast tow trailers are great if your always loading up straight lengths or extracting thinnings. Because arb waste is hardly ever always straight lengths unless you can get close enough with your kit to load it. The thing is it has to work for your business model otherwise it’s not worth it. So the more uses you can have for it the better.
