yes they do bring us work but I hate the things. They make me itch....the will just grow to be horrible monsters, the neighbours will hate you.....there must be better things to plant that give bio diversity......did you buy them?

It's still a good saving for someone, if I hadn't bought mine I would of snapped your hand off. I hunted high and low for a second hand one but never asked on AT !! Silly me. They are a fantastic addition to any tree team.

I think sandvik will do a conversion, which I'm pretty sure is the same as Bandits Razor wheel. Because of the amount of teeth and how they are set out they are much more efficient than other types of wheel.

Homemade sourdough pizza....well I knocked it up but bought the sourdough in bulk as I don't have the time to make it.

Are they like Greenteeth? I found Greenteeth just broke and under further investigation I found that the wear sharp teeth are brittle, the normal green teeth that I think they call reds are a lot tougher. I was buying them off QRMS and they were a lot cheaper than the originals. The new razor teeth or sandvik as they are also called are fantastic, defo the best teeth I've used.

Just make sure you charge plenty on grinding stumps...that way most of the time you make a good profit and the odd time you break stuff it's covered from the ones you win on. The razor wheel and teeth seem pretty invincible. I take a battery grinder and can tickle up as needed.

Yep which brings us round to the other thread about running a profitable business. If most tree firms charged a decent amount relative to the graft of this job perhaps more people would see it as a good career. Some customers see us like we are sat at home waiting for them to call and will work for chicken feed. If all company ran as a business and the customer had no choice but to pay a fair price the industry could change for the better. Obviously I'm not so dilluded to think this will happen but it would be nice....the customer is always right is an outdated saying to some extent. I the recent storms not one of the trees I have looked after in the last 21 years failed because they had been maintained. A few I had recommended to be reduced etc failed. People need to start looking at trees as an asset and not a hindrance and then maybe young people would value coming into arb as a worthy career. Perhaps Greta T can convince the youth to look after the trees we have for the good of the planet[emoji120]

Wise words Ian, you see it a lot, certainly in other trades. I know a sparky, trained a lad and looked after him well, once the lad had about 7 years experience he left and set up on his own. I guess this is the nature of the beast. It might not be the answer but I feel there is a shortage of new tree workers that are any good coming through.....

Because we're not losing money surely? I was speaking to a lad today who said he likes to have 6k in his business account at all times yet pays himself next to nothing?? What's the point of rinsing yer pan day in day out to loose money and not have a nice life. High turnover with little profit is a waste of time surely??

As I said I the other thread this is well worth the time to listen to it. Some excellent points made and a few valuable lessons for me. I hold my hands up and say after 21 years in this industry I am still open to new ideas and this has a few that seasoned business owners can learn from.

One of the big surprises is how much less sawdust there is to clean up!! Instead of having ring up all the timber you can just move it and load it with less mess and fuss. Brilliant
