  1. Did you get your ranger done by PAC tuning? I hear lots of good things about PAC, Ranger owners swear by them..
  2. Yea it's free, there is a paid option but you don't need to have the paid option.
  3. I use Strava and it seems pretty accurate...
  4. I had a tunit plug and play on my TD5 defender many years ago and it caused no end of issues, I removed it in the end. I then had a remap done buy a reputable company but it also caused no end of problems, it used to snap manifold studs regularly due to the heat created by having more power. I won't fiddle about with engines in this way again unless I really need too. I hope yours is ok Stubby.
  5. That's poor, I hope someone makes a complaint to the company responsible.
  6. I'm sure there are plenty that use it as a means of contraception rather than condoms or birth control pills, while we may not agree this is right the alternative has ramifications from there on. The mother wants rid and puts the baby into the already stretched system of care, or she keeps the baby and it is subject to being mistreated or worse. It's a sad situation the only hope would be adoption in to loving family's which can give the child what it needs. For me abortion has to be a carefully considered option and in someways the final option after the others are exhausted.
  7. So what about rape victims? Are you saying that they shouldn't be able to abort?
  8. There will be problems when you start to run a second gang and you are sure you want the hassle? I'm my experience you are better having 1 gang earning good money rather than the hassle of 2. Going back to sort out the bits they missed/didn't do to the job spec or customers adding bits in here and there. Breakdowns, being let down if a staff member is off. You are far better streamlining the operation you have to give the best returns. You need to include profit into jobs not just wages and running costs. This is vital.
  9. There is no comparing the efficiency of a 150 and a 230, you would get more stuff chipped up in a quicker time with out having to dress branches out etc.....I speak from experience.
  10. Well the peas, carrots and green beans that are frozen that we use are fine so I can't see what you are on about there good old birds eye......And the fish fingers aren't that bad, no red on the label.....once a week for a quick meal are fine. My Grandad had a saying everything in moderation......he lived to 96.
  11. I like Andy's bullet points above. My wife teaches in a school in not a bad town, there are kids that come to school with holes in their shoes and dirty clothes, they are short of food at home, the only decent meal they get is at school yet Mum and Dad smoke, drink and take drugs oh and have sky TV. It's about priority's. Food can be healthy and cheap. Fresh veg or even frozen peas and carrots are cheap and healthy, mix with pasta and sauce and fish fingers and you have a healthy meal that's not hard to make. It's down to priority's and some people don't prioritise food.
  12. I agree with Mick on this. Most of the time when I have been in this situation the brash is in a big messy heap that I have to fight to get into the chipper or its been cut badly and will need re cutting so it goes through my chipper without getting stuck. It often has stones or wire or other crap in that doesn't go through WOODCHIPPER, the clue is in the name there. Most people wanting me to chip up their crap do not care about my machine that cost 30 grand. If I did agree to chip the pile I would only allow the owner to drag to the chipper but not use the chipper. I've seen some right plonkers over the years and if I hadn't of been there I guess they would have no hands by now. I don't mind people doing stuff themselves but don't waste my time getting me round to quote or wanting me to do bits of the job and expecting me to be cheap.
  13. Unfortunately Stubby I have come across this guys type before and that leads me to believe it's genuine. They can't see that how they are going about things will offend a professional. I've been called out to a tree that the owner had tried to fell himself after watching YouTube but he had not taken into account the weight of the tree and the forces at play. I had to them sort it out. I had given a quote but he found it too much for just a tree......it cost him more in the end. I've been to look at threes where the owner has told me he's into rock climbing and will take the tree down himself as he's good with ropes.......can I just come and do what he can't manage, and tidy up?? I have seen a guy dig out foundations himself and take 3 weekends of going back and forth to the tip with bags of soil only to be told by the builder that's he had dug far too much out and that it's going to cost double the groundwork quote now as they need to back fill. The story's go on and on. There is a saying....a little knowledge can be dangerous.....I think it fits this situation quite well.
  14. I think it's because he has come onto a site for professional tree surgeons asking how to cut down a tree cheaper than the quote he had been given. Would people go on a forum for plumbers or electricians asking how to do jobs because they thought the quote was too high???the quote given For tree work usually reflects the years of experience of the tree surgeon and the cost of training, insurance, equipment, waste disposal etc.....why do we entertain this type of post when I doubt other professional trades would??
  15. Why? The customer is paying me to do a job that they can't do themselves, I can educate them on how it's done can't I?
  16. Not at all, I've worked for him since then. Some customers just need educating with what we are doing. I was not dishonest in any way.
  17. The customer wants his cake and to eat it. I once took down a Walnut, he agreed a price where I take it down and get rid. As the access was through the house or over a wall I brought my Alaskan mill to plank the trunk up. He can out after I'd done a few planks at 4"and said I can leave a few of those........I said no problem. £50 each. He went crazy saying it's his tree....when I pointed outta the quote was to dismantle and remove the tree and arisings he soon changed his tune......
  18. Oh no, did you get covered in piss and shit too? I bet he's feeling a bit of a dick now........
  19. Just watch them if it's wet, I've had an interesting experience with my tracked grinder and alloy ramps.......[emoji847]
  20. Sounds like a difficult customer......I could not be bothered with such after all its tree removal. You say you have muddied the waters and I'd agree, I think you have said to much, sowed the seed and now he's sus. Good luck with it....
  21. Your trees won't form a hedge like that, they need to be planted closer together to form a nice tight conifer hedge. Your pictures show there is no lower growth on the trees.
  22. Post up the pictures in a couple of years of them being maintained, I'd like to see them......well that's if they are still alive[emoji106] the more you try to control them the more they grow, then you try to control them and they grow, and grow and grow and grow.....
