  1. Why evil? Is it because 95% of new double glazing seem to have thoose very wide chunky UPVC frames which look ugly versus the narrower old frames ? Also when the sun warms them they are often noisey creeking etc On grand design etc they always seem to have alot thinner frames which look loads better but they are probaby more expensive?
  2. Hoe-ing is the key before any weeds appear/ get big. A larg-ish area can be kept weeded with not that much effort or minimal digging esp with that good soil structure you have. Your soil structure/ tilth looks perfect - very lucky as it makes a massive difference to the effort required versus a heavy clay etc. Wood chip is ideal for paths & to avoid soil compaction. You could use woodchip lay in out like this: The now popular idea of smaller raised beds/permanent path layout have downsides Weeds establish along any permanent edge structures & paths the soil will dry out faster on raised beds in the summer. Can't rotavate etc across the whole plot Less easy acess to push a wheel barrow trailer etc around to tip the compost / manure.
  3. Thought they were ok...... How would you stake them differently? Stake do look big but can't see that being an issue (apart from costing more) to the trees and if you use thoose figure of 8 ties it keep the stake away from trees? Hard to see well from pics if they will rub....?
  4. More wood left for countryside dwellers? Tyres create alot of PM2.5 also Car tyres produce vastly more particle pollution than exhausts, tests show | Pollution | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Toxic particles from tyre wear almost 2,000 times worse than from exhausts as weight of cars increases Wonder how much versus from stoves? Domestic particle scrubbers already exist but are not very mainstream unsure how effective they are ....
  5. The idea is that Stakes should point into the prevailing wind or down slope miss the root ball and be low enough attached to allow the top of tree top to move in the wind as supposedly this promotes the roots to grow better.
  6. Binding faggots WWW.MOT.BE A woodmans grip can be made in a 5 minutes & works well but the faggot presses etc are better no doubt. I think as starter make a few woodmans grips to use on long faggots then tying with twine then chainsaw the faggots into pimps. Theres a common near me thats unmanaged limestone pavement with hazel on it. It has electric poles overhead. a couple a acres are cut under the wires every few yrs for clearance They cut the hazel stools off at waist height a few yrs ago, all the of material left to waste & then they decided to dig up some stools with a mini digger for some reason....and leave them lying all over tha place so its a complete mess now Anyway enough material was left lying about for 1000's of pimps. .
  7. Just realized going from 6 to 7 tooth will incerease chain speed by 12% so not ideal Spur 3/8 LP 6 tooth sprocket and 325 7 tooth sprocket - the 2 stock configurations give nearly the same chain speed .
  8. Get it shipped from germany? 195223311 WWW-DER--HEIMWERKER-AT.TRANSLATE.GOOG Iv'e bought parts & stuff before from various german sites as the price is often less & the range in stock better. Or get the ea5000 rim one & Oregon 18720 i think would work Chainsaw Sprocket Rim 3/8" x 7 Tooth Small 7 Spline SM7 Oregon 18720 Carlton SRA27 GB GBA7S7 WWW.JAPGMOWERS.CO.UK Replacement for Part Numbers Husqvarna 504 52 30-02, 504523002, 5045230-02, 640 20 00-36, 640200036... I didn't fit a rim sprocket yet as still have a few spur ones bough as spare to use up first. My makita came with .325

  10. Qaulity is good even if is just a brand name of a chinese / HK based company Techtronic Industries - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  11. Maybe be he meant as smoker wood? Alder Wood Chips | Hot Smoked HOTSMOKED.CO.UK Flavour Guide LIGHT Alder is a light and delicate smoke flavour with a hint of sweetness. Pair with any fish and salmon in... Used in addition to using charcoal
  12. Sounds like the US? Alnus incana? Think I would treat it like a UK chesnut coppice & clear fell areas on rotation if you want some wood but maybe keep a few of the biggest trees as parkland trees habitat etc. Black Alder in the park of Chatsworth House, Edensor, England, United Kingdom WWW.MONUMENTALTREES.COM 1-5 answer: Can't see an issue doing any of thoose if its in US- but I don't really know what any local rules/regs are etc? UK has regulations on felling and firewood selling.
  13. Prefer swedes to turnips & they seem easier to grow as less bolt prone. Fuskahsima water being released out the sea is supposedly safe now as being filtered apart from the tritium which can't be removed but which they say they are gonna dilute down to safe lvls (its occurs naturally) Thats the offical version anyway. ALPS Treated Water Q&A / METI Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry WWW.METI.GO.JP I reckon they are probably doing a better job than sellafield has/does.
  14. Once a yrs job taking a few hrs to pull any climbing ivy off any walls trees unless its a massive garden And u can strim it off walls etc very fast if its only less than 1 yrs old growth. Also its very shallow rooted so easy to remove normally. Gravel under trees is a pretty bad idea imo and high maintenance in general. & unless you remove leaves regularly they then will mix with the gravel then u get weeds growing so a leaf blower is needed.
  15. Whatt does low maintenace surfacing mean concrete tarmac etc?

    Sheep

If goats escape you will find they have climbed up somewhere stupid on the the roof of the car or house roof etc. 🙂

    Sheep

Goats will escape unless the fencing is very good.

    Sheep

Why did you buy a 4 acre paddock and decide you want sheep but have no clue about sheep? Just seems abit odd. Get a butcher to do home slaughter and stick em in the freezer & eat them? Otherwise whats the point- pets I suppose?
  20. Never understood why pole saws are so expensive.
  21. Says 5yrs domestic 2yrs commercial shaft is 28mm Spares do seem rare (seem abit more around from italy ) for both the mitsubishi engine and the kaaz parts. Looks like a good product quality wise. Shame that they can't be organized with the spares as mitsubishi is not some obscure company after all......
  22. This bruscutter looks good any opinions? https://www.kaaz.co.jp/en/Spec/VF500.pdf Made in japan very good anti vibe stats, spares might be the downside? What are the TLE48 (Mitsubishi) engines like?
