  1. Do you guys get the odd feeling at the base of your spine and cant breathe properly watchin this? Makes me feel ill just reviewing it in my head. But yeah too right was just crying out for him to jump an pop the chute.
  2. Was with a slightly off the wall client today and got round to talking about Whitefinger/ reynauds/hand arm vibe syndrome. Anyway he asked if leeches on the fingertips would counteract the problem. At first thought he'd lost the plot but the more I think the more feasible it becomes. -perhaps I should just stop thinkin ?
  3. I semi retired from this industry more than 15yrs ago but it still fills me with pride to remain involved and to read and feel the camaraderie and support to any new member or anybody prepared to work hard. I love this work and couldn't do any other even as I approach 50. To you superfurryanimal well done and enjoy even the bad days. To all others waiting to follow, we'll always give what help we can. Stay safe. Shaun
  4. Believe me if and when it does fail the rat scratch with the saw working out in front is a really cack position to be in . Pendulum swing into trunk, disorientated and unable to fend off with the legs leads to big impact. I've kept reviewing what I did and could I have done different, but still haven't found an alternative. Tieing in to the limb I was on was the only other possible and thankfully I didn't. Smashed ribs and knackered thigh ligament was bad enough without being garrotted in half by the falling limb.
  5. Is that still there? But no not that site.
  6. Went with climber to job in the rear garden of a street terrace in Oxford. We were earlier than expected. Knocked at door, client comes out looking surprised them announces we'll have to wait whilst he clears out his back passage . Priceless !!. Had to quickly run back to the truck " to get something" but just to get out of earshot before the sides split. Rest of day was just out of control!! This was 20 years ago. Still brings tears thinkin about it now. Met up with John the climber recently , the first memory shared was this one. Shaun
  7. God a whole new world is opening up. Try as I might I couldnt be that devious. And I thought ya could trust paypal- going to keep my eyes open a bit more.!!
  8. Just had a mail through from ebay saying all communications I had with the seller were from a hacked account. Had a lucky escape there. Curious though how he could have received any money as the buyit now sale was still going to be through both ebay and PayPal. -can someone really change all those details as well?
  9. Its just gone for £3160 hopefully someone will come to this forum to say what a crackin mill theyve just bagged. Good jealous luck. Shaun
  10. Were some convincing pics with jcb 3c and a rough farmyard- v english could have been anywhere I know. Luckily already knew a good deal about these saws enough to be v.suspicious ,but would av been the dream realised if true. so close to takin the chance.
  11. Have beem in contact with seller. He's sent me pics of a curiously derelict looking mill with only 4hrs on the clock. Wanted me to do a buy it now for £3200 . No other info like is it a runner! When I asked this question plus a few others he's stopped talkin to me. Took the previous posters advice and offered cash when I'm in UK in sept. he simply said couldnt wait that long. Don't think I'm bidding this time
  12. Make is mobile dimension saw from mobile mfg of oregon usa. Model will be a 128. To get one over this side of Atlantic will be looking at bones of 30K
  13. Says barnsley on the listing but I didn't think any of these in UK. Googled every sawmill, timberyard etc in barnsley region - found nothing, anyone else know where it is. Seller not answering any questions. Becoming more suspicious.
  14. Dont know where updated came from. Bloody phone keypads!!
  15. Used one of these three weeks ago. Super simple bit of kit. Very reliable, very accurate and quick especially cutting multiple boards. Max cut is 12"X8, but really makes its money cutting planks boards and construction timber. Simple to move and set updated better on a low purpose built trailer. Suspiciously low price. Surely too much of a bargain. Reckon as soon as a bid placed will say reserve not met. Shaun
  16. Yes I know tw125 aint that heavy. Got muddled with a pm iwas talking with earlier. But still need no weight
  17. Thanks guys. Live and work out in west cork Ireland. Working several small woodlands ranging from hilly slopes to true mountainside. The thought of 680kg pushing generates brown trousers already hence only really looking at 3" capacity but roller fed. Mix of broadleaf and sruce etc liftings/thin outs plus scrub and shrubs. What d'ya think?
  18. Image.!! Public pathways throughout. Have tried mashing it down before, didnt look great ,and I'm thorough.
  19. Doing a bit of small woodland work and constantly thinkin wish I had a chipper here. Does anyone have a sensible suggestion for a small self feed chipper for brash really. Logwood left in ecopiles. Needs to be hauled with my kodiak450 so not too heavy or unstable. Gravity fed is just pants dont want to go there at all so dont be tellin me ow great ya lego garden machine is !! Shaun
  20. Hiya. I work with a couple of wildflower meadow projects out here in Ireland. As has been said rightly earlier its imperative to remove all cuttings from the field Leave any and your only promoting grass growth that the flower cannot compete against. If the field hasn't been cut regularly before then get farmer giles in with a good sharp disc mower to get underneath the thatch layer. Even if he only cuts a block out of the centre its saved you a huge ballache. Then for the rest around trees or odd shaped corners use a brush cutter with a heavy sharp blade to cut just above the dirt. Let it all dry for three days to reduce weight and effort, but more importantly to dry out and release seed then rake it all into centre and make hay in the usual fashion. Subsequent years now that root zone is clear of trash, use a pedestrian fingerbar mower like an allen scythe- really sharp and well set up from a vintage sale or find local vintage enthusiast with one. It'll tickle his tits pink to do something usefull with it!! Rotary garden type mowers are not the answer unless you're going to rake meticulously. Take a hay crop at least once a year then graze once or twice only later. Dont forget to dry and shake out the seed. You really have got to be lowering the nutrient status for the flower to survive. Cut wandering paths through the growing crop to enjoy seeing it change. This stuff will take several years to develop but what a picture in the end.
  21. So is no one's mill insured? Not necessarily looking for irish insurers, just contacts to call to see if they'll cover me
  22. Topical one here following recent post re theft of norwood mill-sorry to hear of the loss- hope you get return soon Does anybody have any recommendations for total loss cover on a lucas mill over here in ireland. Already have pub.liab cover for surgery work but for some reason they're struggling to insure the mill. Shaun
