  3. As per title , this is a shrub that seems to be quite common in Torbay , not seen it in other local areas ...the distinctive opposite leaves with each pair at 90 degrees to the next is quite distinctive ...not Portuguese laurel !!
  4. £10-£20 depending on size and wood etc ... I sell mostly through a couple of galleries who charge roughly double ....
  5. Been busy making lots of these , about 3-4" dia .....they sell well !! Amazing what you make from a scabby cankered bit of Ash !!
  6. Just put seeds in soil in pots , some I squashed the outer fleshy part to see if it made any difference ...
  7. I have had a 100% failure rate trying to grow them from seed !!! 😁 I now find seedlings and pot them or make sure that deer can not get at them as they seem to be their favourite fodder , early growth is fast ...
  8. A prime example of media storytelling !! Going, going, gone – century old tree felled from town's quayside | Shropshire Star WWW.SHROPSHIRESTAR.COM A tree that has stood proudly along the quayside to a Shropshire market town for more than 100 years has been felled by the county council as it was considered dangerous.
  9. If I have a special bit of wood that I wish to remain "green" until I rough turn it then I wrap it in pallet wrap ( industrial clingfilm ) especially during the spring / summer months ...in winter just a shaded place is fine .
  10. I think most of the Mc Donalds are for British and American tourists !!!😁
  11. this will surprise most of you !!! McDonald's restaurants by country Europe 2023 | Statista WWW.STATISTA.COM In 2023, the European country in which McDonald’s operated and franchised the majority of its establishments was France (including Monaco).
  12. cold and wet here ...Devon ...
  13. I own some Douglas fir woodland and have burnt plenty of it !! I tend to leave it laid around for a year or 2 until the bark falls off , or is easily removed ...i think it burns better without the bark ( as most woods seem to ) , can be a pain for splinters ,makes great kindling , it burns pretty quick but gives out decent heat ...great to mix with other wood that can be a bit lazy ..esp oak
  14. I have heard the complete opposite .....with gun licences getting more difficult to obtain landowners may well have to pay for deer management services ...
  15. Well it is now officially spring ....after the most horrendous winter I have ever known with record rainfall and just endless drizzle and misty dull days , but it has not really improved much !!!
  16. Plenty of times a land owner BEFORE selling to a developer or trying to get Planning permission will "get rid " of any trees if they can that could cause problems with their plans , not illegal but but can at times just be selfish / money orientated !!
  17. So those in charge of this scheme spent a fair bit if time and money to come up with and announce it only do do an immediate U turn ,,,,tossers !!!!!!
  18. Update on HMRC Double Cab Pick Up Guidance - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK HMRC has updated its guidance on the tax treatment of Double Cab Pick Ups
  19. Aren't Range Rovers one of the most despised ( as well as stolen and unreliable ) vehicles on the road ??
  20. This suggests a "loophole" for modified vehicles with rear seats removed and windows blanked .. Double-cab pick-up truck tax explained: 2024 company car tax changes and VAT | Auto Express WWW.AUTOEXPRESS.CO.UK The inside line on HMRC’s VAT and Benefit-in-Kind tax rules for those using double-cab pick-ups as company vehicles
  21. It appears that if you already have one then no change until 2028....it seems to be about "benefit in kind" if you are supplied one as a company vehicle , not sure on the situation for owner drivers , farmers for example ??
  22. It is the claims that the PM2.5 particles in the house of a woodburner are so high as to be a serious health risk that bewilders me , if this is the case are there high levels of illness / health problems with owners directly attributable to the woodburner ??
  23. Not afraid of anything , just not sure the cost will be justified , as well as potential hassle / restrictions going forward .
  24. There does seem to be a growing movement of Anti Woodburners going on , I regularly see articles about it , often grossly exaggerated claims , but it is hard to disprove once they are said ...I am moving house soon to one without a woodburner and not too sure of I will fit one ...
  25. no where near as bad here as predicted , storm Henk was worse yet received a lot less hysterical warnings !!
