  9. Great comments dudes, thanks. Wisewood- yeh, not an easy carve, bit of a pain. I find the human form a real challenge, face, hands, feet- all tricky. Loved doing it just for myself tho, probably my best piece to date.
  10. My first proper stump carve commission. Underpriced, rushed, and not hugely satisfied, but customer seems happy. Still, beats doing the day job! Steep learning curve. Awkward when you can't move em about in't it.
  11. They're ace them mate.
  12. Not an original idea but..... Roughed out about a year ago, finally got round to doing something with it. As finished as I could be bothered with, I can get a bit carried away. 20k, if you want it with the Rolex(not mine)hahaaa!

  14. Love it, really nice piece.
  15. Top work, like that.
  16. I believe( don't quote me on this) a lot of old native totem poles were pretty much hollowed out, like a horseshoe profile(birds eye view) for this very reason. So the heartwood was virtually all removed. I reckon cuts down the length will help with cracking issues by relieving stresses/tension elsewhere. Not tried it personally, just theoretical but if I did a carve like that I'd be tempted to try it.
  17. Yep! What he said.
  18. That is pretty impressive. I think it would wipe the floor with most peoples first carve.( mine for cert) Lovely piece, look forward to more pics, and welcome.
  19. Superb!
  20. Nice, like it.
  21. Inspired choice of subject with the shape of the stump you had to work with. Great job mate.
  22. Lovely wee fella.
  23. I'm never "totally" happy with my own stuff. I think it's an excellent job. ( not tried 1 myself)
