  1. I was thinking of getting one like this, with the brake. The brake lever clamps the guide, which hold the chain. They are cheap in the states, price should drop over here, perhaps I will ask for one for Christmas. H-A
  2. This is worth a look if you are planning on taking a Zama carb to bits. Not often you find a well written, well explained technical paper. Well worth looking at before you get the screwdrivers out. Even the diagnostic pages are easy to follow. http://www.zamacarb.com/pdfs/TechGuide_2007.pdf H-A
  3. Thought I would replace this bit:biggrin: hope it has the desired result, if not get the epoxy out. H-A
  4. Wow that is high, what should a new one be, has anyone tested the compression on a new one? H-A
  5. There are 8 holes in the gasket, have you taken 8 screws out? Spud is your man. H-A
  6. Yes I agree, but also how many saw users can't even tune their saws, or even change simple components when needed. I will give it a good going over, ultrasonic the carb, carb kit, check for leaks. This one will hold the idle at 2400, that is a good start. It will also idle if you shake it up and down and turn it different orientations. Fingers crossed. H-A
  7. Not sure, the guy selling it said it would need a service and was sold as spares or repair. I am very pleased, now I just need a side cover chain brake, may treat it to a new one. H-A
  8. Got another MS200T off the bay, bought as spares or repair. Felt a little hard to pull over, ran it for a bit tuned it in, let it cool, measured compression at 180 P.S.I This must be close to new compression figure, anyone know what they are new? Looks like a low hours saw, will give it a good clean. H-A
  9. You could say "Stihl no saw on the bench either...":001_smile: H-A
  10. Been there done that. Did the flywheel hit the Ignition module, are the main bearing OK? H-A
  11. Perhaps "The D bug" should be a new separate topic, or "Drag out your Dolmars", people only concentrate on the big 2, which can't be a good thing. I have a Sachs Dolmar 115, that is the best starting saw I have, downside I did have to get AV rubbers from the states. it is easy to think that Stihl or Husky are the best, as they are market leaders, but how much of that is fashion driven? A similar analogy would be the changing mobile phone industry, Nokia who? Fashions and trends leave many manufacturers by the wayside, I do think Dolmar were a real contender for being the best chainsaw producer. H-A
  12. Was it one like this? They are selling for up to 10k at the moment. Iconic very cool car, I would say that as I have a couple:001_smile: H-A

    Growing trees

I have been growing a lemon tree from seed for 24 years. It is doing very well but no lemons yet. I have spoken to a leading citrus grower and he says I have not let it get big enough, not enough leaf nodes to produce flowers. Ice, gin and tonic waiting for the first lemon. H-A
  14. Helicoil can work, there are cheap kits available on the bay. I have used M6 successfully. BRAND NEW 131 PIECE HELICOIL TYPE THREAD REPAIR KIT - M5 M6 M8 M10 M12 UK SELLER | eBay I found the helicoil method easy and quick, if you don't feel confident to try pop in to your local engineering shop, they should be able to help. H-A
  15. My kids found one the size of a football, tried every way cooking it. Not impressed, would not bother again. H-A
  16. I was wondering why that guy always pulls the starter cord out when he stops a saw. What does it do? H-A
  17. Husqvarna - Global Leader in Outdoor Power Equipment 24 months, looks like 2 years to me. H-A
  18. If you get one of these you will need it.
  19. It is a viliers points spanner, feeler gauge. For points like this. H-A
  20. If you increase the oil in the mix you will reduce the amount of petrol, the saw will run hotter and leaner with 33:1 rather than 50:1, the petrol vaporising in the cylinder prior to combustion also plays a large part in cooling the engine. I do as the manufacturer recommends, each engine is different, for some of my outboard motors 10:1 is normal, the worst is 6.4:1, that does smoke. Odd as it sounds you can get a lean seize from adding too much oil to the mix. H-A
  21. Try Google "echo CS350TES parts diagram" Simples:wink: H-A
  22. Looks like it does the job. Good tool. H-A
  23. This may help http://www.echo-il.co.il/uploadPictures/CS-350TES_ES_STD(0801).pdf Shown as a separate part. 433011-03931 STUD GUIDE BAR H-A
  24. That is what forums are for, to chat about stuff and find out other peoples views and experiences. H-A
  25. All types of power saw are dangerous, there was a guy who lives near me a couple of years ago, trimmed the top of close boarded fence with a skill saw. Saw kicked ran across his face, took out an eye cut through his cheek bone. Electric circular saws can be bought by anyone, next time you go in a joiners shop, spot how many digits are trimmed or missing. I do find it a little strange that is harder for me to buy a top handled saw, than to buy a shot gun. There will always be accidents with chainsaws top or rear handle, usually it is a stupid mistake, tiredness lack of concentration. Should the sale of all chainsaws to uncertified users be banned? If so where do you stop, should all power tools be only sold to and used by certified users? Electric planers create their fair share of carnage, I take more care using a jointer planer than a chainsaw, and pushing wood through a large band saw makes me concentrate. H-A
