Cheers fella yes the seals are brittle ! so far, iv had two fails and two wins so at least Iv broken even. I found the bearings went in quite easy after heating the case and freezing the bearing. look forward to seeing those pictures !

thanks fella, i have succeeded in getting the first one in. i think the problem i had was perhaps the seal not being totally straight when applying the mallet !

Before I break the third oil seal !, I thought I might ask anyone who has a good technique in doing this. At present, I have the bearings installed. The seals seem to split when I try and set them back in. any help would be great !

you absolute legend !! I just found the 8th screw... will it be plain sailing from here ?

Im am struggling to get my crankcase apart !! could anybody tell me the best way to split the crankcase, is there a specific tool i could use ? The people at stihl tell me- a few gentle taps wit a rubber mallet and it should come apart. It's not working for me !
