There's supposedly going to be a DC cable between Norway & Scotland, Google says Peterhead and that's like 1400MW. The wind farm probably wouldn't need that level of transformation unless it's at sea, being wind dependent it's up/down and adds cost. They've still not even grid connected the Shetlands or was it Orkneys?.

It's supposedly more efficient the higher the voltage, is this also part of the link from Norway ?.

That probably explains the many lorries with big arse transformers when I was up Aviemore the other week. Are they just changing the voltage and not the towers ?. Always told it's safe, but also seen the fluorescent tube thing under them so not entirely sure. Can you get a cheap spectrum analysis thing like "Ringway Manchester" has on YouTube?.
  4. Holy thread resurrection batman. Oh you're hawking.
  5. Whilst I've never done the battery thing, I did replace the PCB on a Westwood. Same thing, LEDS, headlights, relays and a seat safety switch. Its a ride on mower, the key should have a sticker saying turning this agrees you're not a moron otherwise call for a gardener.
  6. With the side plate removed, does the clutch spin freely within the cup, as @Mick Dempsey has said clutch springs. Might be down to how you removed the clutch or just worn out springs.
  7. HIK LC06 seems to be the cheapest at around £350, not spending more for squirrels. It was more for locating & identifying them hidden in the tops of the trees, rifle scope is more than sufficient after that and I can get closer but 20-50 yards is the average. What with the rain and woodland management, encouraging the birds of prey it's probably been a poor year for the squirrels. Just like to think, creating an absence draws then in from further afield and the cycle repeats helping the reds elsewhere.
  8. Had been looking at the £300 ones, more for seeing where the little buggers are hiding in the tops of canopy. Granted I'll probably just wait until it warms up and a calm evening, then just follow the noise of the falling nuts and seeds.
  9. Does anyone have any real world experience of the cheap thermal monoculars on small targets?. I do a lot of squirrel control, obviously this time of year makes it harder to see upto about 80 yards
  10. If it's FREE then take up the offer, it's a few hundred quid you don't have to pay 🙂. Maybe say you're so worried about the beetles, I think it needs stump grinding as part of the deal!.
  11. Was it orange plant Warrington way, last year that ended up mostly at auctions ?. Looking at the website, it was a glut of too much new stock and multiple brands, you can't be an all things to all men one stop shop with millions of quid in stock just depreciating.

  14. Daft question, if the structural engineer said 2m foundations, the council agreed and then signed it off as adequate. Who would be negligent?.
  15. Maybe we swap it for one of those Stihl kids toys, with real sound. On reflection might be better to send the strimmer than the chainsaw toy.
  16. Maybe that's hippy tree work ?.
  17. Coming to a court near you, same as the Americans that sued because the coffee was hot!.
  18. Plus a judgement becomes case law, kinda. If you settle and pay out it remains as ambiguous as it was at the start.
  19. Probably a bit more usable than those new ones that need new prop shafts and engines before even going into service 😉
  20. HMS Victory doesn't look to shabby for old wood.
  21. So it's just more complexity for a simple engine and more things to go wrong. Yey for more Chinesium in the scrap pile.
  22. What about an eco green ?.
  23. I knew about the diesel being effectively the standard fuel, as most can also utilise aircraft fuels or kerosene, just lacks the lubricants. As they say, very few new ideas, the real problem battlefield wise is dirty fuels. That was the brilliance of the original Otto, it would burn anything oil based. I'm sure it was a Clarkson quote, their too bothered about the exhaust than the big explosive thing being fired out the front.
  24. Why don't half of the cylinders stop moving at low power tick over ?. Plus aren't most tank engines turbines to utilise whatever fuel is available.
