Even if the government paid half we'd still be triple the price Daewoo and such can build them for in Korea. We can't even make large steel pipe in Germany anymore, probably Chinese or Indian.

Yeap, gotta love Vatternfall buying stuff like that to subsidise Sweden and you can't buy shares. Why premium bonds don't get their hands on them I will never know. Surely 33m is atleast a couple of turbines we could just take in exchange?
  4. If I ever get a hgv with a load sensor I'll let you know.
  5. I fill mine to the absolute gunnels, double stacked and let the stiff breeze work it's magic. Whilst I'm not disputing your scales, I don't think I'm far off my estimation, it might be somewhere in the middle as two guys can't slide a dried one on a concrete floor.

Moray Firth wind farm operator ordered to pay more than £33m WWW.BBC.COM The owners of Beatrice - Scotland's largest offshore wind farm - have admitted a licence breach.
  7. I'd speak to the UK consulate in BC, as I'm guessing you're wife is still dual citizen or you are EU/Canadian. Might be easier than you think as it's within the commonwealth. Probably don't even need a sponsor.
  8. And no picture of the actual cage, you said yours was 50% air
  9. Unfortunately not got a scale. My forklift can lift 1.3 ton, not overloaded but definitely knows it's there so around 900kg

But Earl Grantham we won't have enough room for your under butler or the kitchen maid.
  11. That's how I store mine, not sure it's 50% air. Plus an IBC is 1.2m3
  12. As you've already got a manitou, why not just buy a cheap semi scrap 3/4 ton agri trailer. They have large tyres, dual axle would be preferable to spread the weight and a 4 ton would get atleast 4 at a time. Anything road trailer wise will get stuck very quickly as they're like lawn tractor tyres.
  13. £45, I don't want you giving it away and working for nothing!. We could send it all via royal mail and he can airfix it together?. Glue and dovetails not included.
  14. I'm sure even they get deliveries if you're ordering enough. All the houses can't all be salvaged from shipwrecks, there only so much driftwood available for building that wicker man. Or is it you quoting £45, that's up your neck of the Highlands 😉
  15. An IBC cages of firewood will weigh about the same as one filled with water when unseasoned. I use a rough terrain forklift around the yard and a full cage is about a ton, from experience don't move two at a time either. Probably best to just make a hard standing or track, cuts down the moving but can take the weight for a normal trailer.
  16. Someone's pulling your leg, howarth have it listed as £41.98 Inc vat for a 6.9m C24 kiln dried.
  17. Just ring forst direct

43 according to my calculator. A hectare is 2.4 acres

I was highlighting that it's not the actual size of the installation, it'll just be the purchase of the farm/estate under a CPO. Hinkley Point A at 500MW had a transformer area of only 2 acres outside the main gates.

It won't be 200 or 860 acres, as 1 square mile is 640acres

Always wondered if it was ozone, as the high voltage does create it and it's damaging to health. Had experience with it on aquatics, it literally eats anything organic or plastic.

Oh it's compatible, but UK power has always been a bit spicier than the EU. Generally it's 220/380 with very little change in the EU, here it's 240/415 and even then it can be 250 depending on the time of day

I'm not sure about the AC in water thing, as the cables are that well isolated. But marine life such as sharks etc might be more liable to attack it. One assumes DC effectively cancels itself out, plus also allows better isolation as UK voltage and frequency is different to the continent. Tom Scott did a video about it ages ago, as the EU network is so large it varies, causing clocks to run at a different operating frequency.
  24. On the plus side that's Darwin working well, no kids to worry about.

Says it's on hold, think they started one from Germany last month to somewhere on the south coast
