  1. Not so much as it is but when laid on wet concrete, filled with water to stop it swimming and then covered in concrete its basically just a load of arches, the two holes in the middle then become stanchions. Bob Another tank turned up today, this one is for 15000lts of reserve hydrant water.
  2. Makes you wonder which tongue was used when this was Doggerland, Stubby may know Bob
  3. It hasn't turned a wheel yet , they are either scared of it or think its a trap Bob
  4. Or, Qui eorum sciunt Latine I`ll get me coat. Bob
  5. Gurt rainwater harvesting tank turned up at the yard yesterday instead of being delivered straight to the job. Made by Graf , never used them before but they really are HD, must be nearly 15mm thick judging by the weight.
  6. Probably the same as you, in the absence of the right kit you just have to tough it out. looks well. Bob
  7. Steve it really hits home when an artic load of bagged whips turn up for a planting scheme and they all tagged in Latin, kin nightmare. Bob
  8. One of the Transits has just had the once over , fresh paint courtesy of our one eyed painter , no dents, no plastic broken and it has two mirrors . Its back on the road tomorrow ' Who can guess how long it will be before the resident Luddites rip something off , smash it up. lose a mirror or dent it ? The victim
  9. I just picked up a terex ( same as atlas) 105.2 which is also piped for a grab/rotator and has flip up legs , also came with a diesel power pack, remote with charger and its still in test all for £1500. Its going on one of the trucks, seemed a lot of kit for the money, they are about .
  10. Ply is ok but does end up looking a bit tatty, unless you brace the top or put a lid on it the sides always splay out. Facing ply with Alubond can tart it up.
  11. Its just as bad around here Don for all us law abiding cycle users , these lycra clad teletubby racing bikists are always cutting me up and swearing at me Bob:)
  12. Top prize has to go to a log goblin a few years ago that had me load him up with sticks and then stopped on the way out to to fill in any gaps
  13. A bolt in air bag load assister that works with the original springs, just pump them up to load level. Just saying. Bob Ford Transit Double RWD Air Suspension Kit 2001-2019 Continental 6 inch Air Bags WWW.EBAY.CO.UK 2 Air inlet valves. The original suspension will not be removed. The semi-airsuspension are designed to co-operate with the...
  14. "A council spokesman said: “The trees, which were situated on private land, were being felled by the landowner, apparently due to highway safety concerns." Seems plausible, there are not many woodland managers these days with a budget that will stretch to "tree surgery". We have winched in hundreds of roadside trees over the years, many only needed deadwooding, in a lot of cases there is not even the money to sned them out , pull them in and on to the next one. Bob
  15. Not sure on reach Connor but its got four extensions , no electrics and can pick up four ton at full stretch. Its 28ton mtr but punches well past whats good for it or the truck, it will pull the truck over if you are not careful. Used it to dismantle a few trees and because it slews 360 degrees you can work it off the front of the lorry which is a lot easier in some cases than trying to get alongside. Bob
  16. Helped the lads site another one of those sewage treatment plants and a pumped rainwater harvesting tank in my mates garden.
  17. The yanks have got it right J , big engines with gobs of torque at low down revs and everything around it built to last, horse power for a tow barge is sort of meaningless , you really do need to see where in the rev range maximum torque is produced . I ran a rhd Chevy v8 diesel pick up for years, only rated at about 160 hp but would pull four ton plus of trailer as if there nothing there, spares were dirt cheap and readily available , also simple to work on. If I could find another right hand drive one I would grab it. Bob
  18. I bought a couple of 201tc`s and went with 12" bars, was listening to the chimps trying to kill them the other day and thought 12" was pretty much the limit. Bob
  19. He`s a bit of a sod then I`ll get me coat, start the car! Bob
  20. I think we can eliminate those two Steve, the size of them brings it down to about four possibles. I will ask our Arb consultant who will bore the tits off me for an hour but will know the species, name and age of the the guy that planted them, the name of the boat the plants came over on and whether it was raining that day. Bob
  21. Its a bit of a mixed bag for us Alex. Yes the smaller beams and planks are useful but of all the timber milled the best seller was the slabbed Oak, unfortunately this all had to be done with an Alaskan hence selling the Miser. Still looking for something much bigger and efficient so will go to the next APF with a fiver sticking out of each ear looking for ideas and a bargain. Bob By far the best seller was the slabbed Oak and that all had to be done on the Alsakan
  22. I have looked at the swing mills and various other permutations, of all the mills the only one I fancy either buying or building is the double cut bandmill. So much time wasted running the head back to the start each time with conventional mills . God only knows how they track the bands
  23. I got rid of the woodmizer because every stick that came back was too big for it, to use it I had to get a mate in to rasher off lumps with his alsakan, it all got too massy and time consuming. I would revisit the world of milling if I could find something that could deal with 48" + diameter sticks, below that seems like hard work. Bob It was ok on small sticks, not so clever on bigger stuff.
  24. The fence is dog legged Catweazle so no damage , was a bit of a pig to fell because the fence was up against all four of them, seem to be having a run on Euc atm Apparently so, its also used to make furniture. Dont know how they deal with it to stop the warping/splitting @Squaredy is referring to. Was thinking the same, someone on here may well know the ins/outs of this. Anyone? Heavy old gear J, the strops were creaking when I craned on the bigger stick, the telehandler could only lift one end so I craned it off and that's where its staying until we decide what to do with it. I am loathed to cut it . Its 26` long.
