Hi almost llama timber should be air dryed for at least 6 months before going in a kiln , I have heard good things about the logosol kilns but sorry I haven’t had any experience with one myself, good luck with it Cheers Mark

Hi Rob , those panther mills look ace I really like the quick adjustment on the cutting height , I was wondering if the parts are interchangeable with the Alaskan mill , did you help in the design of them , if so good job ,hopefully I will be back milling before too long . Cheers Mark -
Ha funny you say that , it was all in some foreign language, but thanks for bothering to find it for me , I will just keep at it with the face plate and see how I go but will defo be on the lookout for some hollowing out tools , Thanks for all your help Cheers Mark

Thanks Steve will defo keep an eye on that , how do I work out if my lathe is 3/4 16 tpi what is tpi surly it’s not teeth per inch sorry I don’t know hardly anything about lathes Thanks Mark

Hi my lathe is a kinzo not sure if it’s a good make prob not , how do I know what chuck will fit on it I had a look on eBay and just wasn’t sure some were like £20 and some were quite a bit more , mine has a face plate with it , that can be used for bowls can’t it , sorry for the basic questions but it’s all new to me , but very enjoyable I would love to be able to make very big vases like 3/4 ft eventually Thanks Guys Mark

Hi my lathe is a kinzo not sure if it’s a good make prob not , as for uniform thickness surely if it’s thicker at the bottom it will be more stable and less likely to get knocked over but hey I am just learning Cheers Mark

Hi usual rule of thumb is an inch a year plus a year so 3 inch thick board 4 years but I have milled boards and made coffee tables after about a year Cheers Mark

Hi I agree with Big J about the cladding but I would 2x1 ash for the frame traditionaly frames were made from ash , buses, showman wagons , shepherds huts , all had ash framing , I wouldn’t use beech outside but spalted beech for some internal furniture would look ace ,resin coat a worktop of spalted beech stunning and long lasting , do post some pics of your build good luck with it Cheers Mark

Yeah it’s so odd walking with the iwalk my leg that’s bent still wants to move like it normally would and my ankle but they can’t it’s bloody odd , yeah bloody crutches especially in the wet my mate had warned me earlier about crutches in the wet , my ankle does ache today but not swollen so I don’t think any damage bloody hope not Cheers Mark

No worries, F###ing knackered today I have 4 benches to make for the national trust for a place that opens in Easter they said if I can manage 2 for the opening day that would ace but if we can do the 4 we will get paid and I could totally do with the money , had to take it easy today bloody fell on my arse last night in the rain bloody crutches are crap in the rain was only going from my van to the back door so ankle is sore today hopefully no damage done, going to hop to the fridge (carlsberg refreshes the broken parts other beers just can’t reach) Cheers Mark

Nice work , the hare is my favourite , going nuts not be able to do much work , I had a go carving wearing my iwalk and it wasn’t as good as I had hoped but at least I can have a go at turning . Cheers Mark

What’s wrong with a carving bar you can get like 6 and 8 inch bars ideal for cutting ivy and hardly any kick back.

Sorry I may be being thick but is that 2 soap dishes or is the one bit a lid did you order that one or do you still need one I reckon I could do one of those even with a broken ankle Cheers Mark

Hi I am sure there is an attachment that bolts on the nose of the bar especially to stop kick back or get her a carving bar as the kick back zone is so small they very rarely kick back I have only had one slightly kick doing very odd cuts on some piece of work , yeah the more I think about it the better it sounds , why not ask some other carvers on the chainsaw carving bit I am sure they will agree, hope this helps Cheers Mark

Hi you know what they say about the grass being greener now that I have an air soft boot it’s hot big and would make mad max proud up to my knee so f###ing big I need 70,s flares to go over it , but at least it’s a step in the right direction well not literally I can take it off so I am off to have a long soak of both my legs in the bath no more hanging one over the side 3 months of not washing my leg it’s going to be ace especially if I can get my girlfriend to do my back yes get your minds out of the gutter I did say back , It felt so strange to have no pins or plaster and trying to move it was even stranger normally you just sort of subconsciously just move but thinking ankle move and it don’t hardly move F ###ing odd so there,s my up date Thanks Guys Mark

Morning Guys, a quick update I got my iwalk and it’s so cool was so looking forward to being able to walk round my workshop so much to do , but sadly not to be today every time I have my leg anywhere but up on pillows it’s swelling up so it’s back to the hospital, if I’m lucky they might just give me an air soft boot , will let you know how I get on Cheers Mark

Cool I will have a look I had a look at Worththeefort and god his voice went right through me so many of those YouTube woodworkers just waffle on instead of showing you how it’s done I had to watch this one bloke cutting squares on a bandsaw lots of them . Cheers Mark
