Hi ,well at least I am not alone , and the matey that I was doing the milling for is a posh banker so he was well chuffed and his oppo was getting paid just to chat and help with moving the slabs that were bloody heavy even at two and a half inch ,back this morning and wondering how much the boards have cracked as all he did was put some crinkly tin over them I will post some photos later let’s hope today goes better

So On Friday did my first payed alaskan milling job since my accident what a palaver the saw fell off the bar ,put it back on the chain comes off ,bloody puts it back on the wrong way round and on top of all that it was some of the hardest Oak I have ever milled I ache all over today welcome back to chainsaw milling ,but the boards are ace I think I have some photos on my mobile if so I will post them when I get a mo , I am back there tomorrow morning to finish the log probably only 2/3 boards to mill cheers Mark
  3. Hi I found a arbotec turbo plane is good for hollowing out bowls if I get time tomorrow I will post a picture of the bowl I made with one out of some pear wood
  4. Hi I have hollowed out some treasure chests from elm logs using the tip of the saw ,taking out the chainsaw marks takes ages
  5. No idea what timber that is but Nice work how did you hollow them out was it on a lathe
  6. Yeah pleased with it a bit of a faf cutting to the shape of the beam ,those beams are 16/18 inch Elm full of woodworm holes but you can’t hammer a 6inch nail into them with a lump hammer goes in about an inch or so and just bends rock hard in the middle

  13. Hi guys yeah I have been doing some research and you can build up an allergy to sawdust over time and WRC is an irritant so it said on this site I was looking on.
  14. I have a tree book somewhere will have to dig it out and see what it says just wondering if anybody on here had developed an allergy to WRC or any timber after yrs of using it

Hi guys have any of you heard of anybody developing an allergy to WRC , I have been using it on and off for yrs but yesterday by the time I got home both my fore arms were bright red itchy as F##K and lumpy defo an allergy and apart from a new British Bulldog and I have always had dogs ,I can’t think of anything else that I might be allergic to .   17. Hi just have a go a mushroom is a good start ,get some models of bears,owls etc and just have a go and see how you get on don’t worry about making fire wood I have made loads when carving most of all have fun with it ,Good luck Cheers Mark

Oh yeah seen it running,I am quite friendly with the old matey that I got it from,he has retired and is busy turning his workshop into a snooker room and he has just got himself a burr walnut snooker table ,I am really looking forward to going to have a a few frames with him ,he owned the thicknesser for over 30 yrs and totally looked after it

    So as you all know I have a 3 phase thicknesser and no 3 phase I now have some cash to buy a 3 phase generator or converter,so I would rather give a fellow arbtalker my cash than anybody from flea bay so do any of you have a 3 phase generator or converter you don’t need any more Thanks Mark
