  2. Funny thing well not that bloody funny ,it was spot on in my workshop no wobble ,sturdy and all we did was dismantle it take it to its location and when we rebuilt it there is a wobble ,going there today to sort it out did my head right in why would it move on a short van journey
  3. Hi the top is about 3 inch thick
  4. Hi mate yep well chuffed with it it only takes two to lift it but I have a table on wheels that’s just right for moving big slabs like that ,a bit surprised that only you have commented on it though .glad you like it Thanks Mark
  5. Sequoia table top with Western red pedestals 3-8mtrs llong and 1-3 wide hope you all like it
  6. I will have another go with the winch soon ! I have some monkey puzzle that’s too big for the woodlands ,one pain though is when my workshop got burgled they took my 880with a nice Sugi 4 ft milling bar and now the only 4ft bar I have is the hard nosed bar that came with my first 880 and for some reason solid nosed bars are crap for milling the chain tension is all over the place you can almost watch the chain getting slacker as you go through the cut ,and as I don’t do that much Alaskan milling do I get a better one ,no shows ,or demos this year at all by the looks of it so struggling a bit .
  7. Sorry for the photos being upside down don’t know how that happened, I took the winch off as I felt that I wasn’t getting the right feel for how the saw was cutting if you know what I mean, with a winch it’s just full throttle all the way ! I don’t know that’s just what I think others may differ
  8. Hi all hopefully here are some photos of the Oak that I have just miilled
  9. Hi ,well at least I am not alone , and the matey that I was doing the milling for is a posh banker so he was well chuffed and his oppo was getting paid just to chat and help with moving the slabs that were bloody heavy even at two and a half inch ,back this morning and wondering how much the boards have cracked as all he did was put some crinkly tin over them I will post some photos later let’s hope today goes better
  10. So On Friday did my first payed alaskan milling job since my accident what a palaver the saw fell off the bar ,put it back on the chain comes off ,bloody puts it back on the wrong way round and on top of all that it was some of the hardest Oak I have ever milled I ache all over today welcome back to chainsaw milling ,but the boards are ace I think I have some photos on my mobile if so I will post them when I get a mo , I am back there tomorrow morning to finish the log probably only 2/3 boards to mill cheers Mark

  12. Hi I have hollowed out some treasure chests from elm logs using the tip of the saw ,taking out the chainsaw marks takes ages
  13. No idea what timber that is but Nice work how did you hollow them out was it on a lathe
  14. Yeah pleased with it a bit of a faf cutting to the shape of the beam ,those beams are 16/18 inch Elm full of woodworm holes but you can’t hammer a 6inch nail into them with a lump hammer goes in about an inch or so and just bends rock hard in the middle
