Deserves a thread of it's own. Good to hear you got out safe
  3. Great! ....be very interested to hear how you get on with slicing beams. I need to cut a load for building our barn (to be green oak framed & spruce roof trusses). Looking at the cheapest option, maybe a mix of Alaskan milling and McConnel saw bench, like yours?? Certainly cant afford a bandsaw!
  4. Oh yes! Didnt see pics before i commented, cheers Looks great. What's the fuel economy like and is it any good for milling trees into beams, green oak etc?
  5. I'm guessing that would be driven by a tractor PTO?
  6. National Planning Policy Framework https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/making-the-planning-system-work-more-efficiently-and-effectively/supporting-pages/national-planning-policy-framework p.s... you aren't dumb, the whole planning system is CC (complex and confusing).

  9. Hydraulic powered saw bench (powered by mini digger hydraulics) Does such a thing exist, or anything similar?
  10. I once modified a broken van aerial by using a metal coat hanger. It worked fine until it got caught in a hedge.
  11. Tyre is fine when splitting - but it is useful to be able to carry all the splits to the stack in one go; a tyre is a bit too heavy for that.
  12. If you had over 5 hectares then you'd have a chance of getting retrospective permission via permitted development... but in comparison a 1 acre plot is tiny. Sorry to be brutally honest but it looks like you've gone way too far with the scale of it all, and that you'd be wasting your time & money chasing this any further. But I could be wrong??....

Makita is not the same thing, unfortunately
  14. Quite a few years go now, I remember using the "too tired" sick note reason.... because holding down a 40 hour per week job as a mechanic AND playing 5 gigs a week in a rock band tends to make you feel a bit tired. Received 2 verbals and a written; never looked back....
  15. I think you need to log in with the same password from arbtalk
  16. Pop it on arbtrader.... ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  17. Things get robbed in France as well.
  18. 50:1 is spot on. Sorry but it does seem like you've bought a bad one.... plenty of bad (and fake) chainsaws on ebay.
  19. Which oil did you use and at what mixture?
  20. Fascinating, and thankyou for sharing, would love to see how it progresses....
  21. Looks like it's scored - I would be taking it apart for a closer inspection.

  24. Thanks Rowan, is that 34" leg on a medium size waist?
  25. If a dodgy person came to my door with stolen gear and they suspected I grassed on them I'd not sleep so well. Why put yourself in that risky position?
