  1. oh yes of course!.... it's the postage doing that.... I ordered lots of stuff from ChainsawBars in one hit so didnt bother to account for the postage. FR Jones is free postage over £50 ....maybe this is something for Rob to consider?
  2. Weird, my 550xp 18" Sugihara Lightweight Pro bar is exactly the same price at FR Jones and ChainsawBars (£70.80 inc vat). I used F R Jones for the bulk of my order (their web prices and service are top notch) but I also wanted to spread my order to Rob@chainsawbars.... he's been really good at sharing advice/ answering questions on the forum.
  3. Nice comment, thanks for that, but please can people refrain from posting STIHL chainsaws on MY thread.... Yours sincerely Steve Husky
  4. Ordered a bunch of stuff from Rob at Chainsaw Bars and he sent a great freebie, then I carried on looking through the order and found another freebie! So thats Two free freebies!! and both very useful. p.s.... not had a chance to use it yet, but the Woodchuck Dual Cant Hook looks very solid & well made.
  5. For all non-chainsaw duties I've been walking through puddles with Dunlop Purofort safety wellies. Using them for everything.... very comfy straight out of the box & with good tread. £50 ish
  6. In reality, i believe you'll find the size 43 airstreams, are a size 42 in the real world. Lets wait n see!....
  7. Well let us know your thoughts!.... return postage is @£12.95 with Royal Mail
  8. So it appears 2 or 3 years have lapsed and the same problem still occurs. Should send this thread to Meindl technical dept.
  9. This ones got in built chainsaw protection to 80m/s chain speed
  10. Make sure it's got a good chin strap system, don't forget the wind. Hope this helps
  11. Do husqvarna make umbrellas?
  12. Dont get me wrong.... the boots look amazing just need to get the right size. I'll post back here to report when the next size up arrives.
  13. And a quarter of each toe
  14. Haha This one is a medium weight. Will also be making a proper heavy weight version And a light weight version for lazy days
  15. Thats a bit annoying as I was told they were a standard EU fit. Oh well, hopefully others may read this thread before ordering via postal. cheers
  16. Yeah I've heard people mention that. We used to use Wynns engine flush at a Peugeot/ Citroen main dealership - in all the years I was there we didnt have a single problem with it (hundreds of oil flushes/ including in some very old cars).
  17. I had a pair of Meindl Airstream boots delivered today and they look superb - tried them on and found them much too tight (toes stubbing at the front).... unfortunately I've had to send them back to try the next size up. Bit of a pain as I couldnt find anyone stocking them near me (to try them on before buying) & Royal Mail is a rip off!....@£12.95 to send them back. I'm normally Euro 41 but having to exchange them for a Euro 42. Has anyone else found the Meindl Airstream sizes on the small side? cheers, steve
  18. Step 1: made my first greenwood mallet today, to wack the froe with (from a single piece of hornbeam - tools used; hand saw, small axe, stanley knife). It weighs in at 1.8kg
  19. Oh dear, one minute you're slipping down clay slopes, next thing this! I'd pop in some engine oil flush and drain it nice and hot (comes out like a cow having a pee).
  20. Yep, will take pictures as I go and plonk them on here
  21. Like that vice idea, think I'll be doing the same. Thanks for the info Alec, i've learnt alot about pegs
  22. It's just oil... !! What's going on with this policy now?.... been trying to order Stihl two stroke engine oil online and some shops have a restriction in place whilst others don't. I eventually ordered some through the bay, but it's also available on amazon (albeit at a higher price).
  23. Looks a bit baggy sided to me. I'd exchange them.
  24. Totally get it now....
  25. Ah! I think i get it now.... sounds like banging a square peg into a round hole, with the tapered point to help get it started. Something like this:
