  1. But BT's problem will not be a 'tree cutting problem' it is a 'stringing a new wire thought a load of trees problem'. Read the OP. Its what I did, then I tried the answer his question (how unfashionable am I)..
  2. Exactly. When I read the OP: BT don't seem to have a problem - its SteveA that has the problem, therefore its SteveA who should sort out 'their' problem (in the nicest possible way).
  3. Am I not right in thinking that under UK (maybe British(or even just English / Welsh)) law, if a tree is causing a 'nuisance', it is the responsibility of the tree owner? (PS B.T. or STIHL.......? it's tricky, but I think that B.T. are worst) after all, at least Stihl are a site sponsor.
  4. I also got a vid of a bloke climbing up a reeeeeealy high radio mast if you're interested

These trainers are: But are you sure this the best setup for converting 22 tons of Oak?
  6. A picture... (ripped of the web). Cheers.
  7. I believe BTS have a metal tree (I have not seen it, or used it though) Their web site is >> BTS Group: providers of overhead line and tree management - Home
  8. Would you be interested in an Igland 55?
  9. Do you think their 'wood be' more than 20% moisture content then? [note: works best when red out in broad Norfolk accent]

  12. Jamie, that is totally off topic. Meanwhile, in the Jokes thread, some one is derailing it by posting this..... Not that I ment loosing a wheel is funny. nor that Timberwolf bearings are a joke God, now I worry I have upset everybody

    Good bye Arbtalk

Whatever works for you. There certainly is a lot of 'background chatter'. Lots of things go round and round. but ever so often something happens.... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/members-only/64834-worst-day-my-life.html Which on its own makes the whole thing worthwile IMO

    Power Lines

Hi Dave Here is the thread: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/68405-powerline-help.html The map came off Wikipedia I'm afraid. Google for 'DNO wiki' Cheers.
  17. that IMO is one step short of internet bullying, The problem is how all the comments are coming across (whether you intend them to or not) I doubt you have any idea of what may have led up to recent employment decisions, what pressures people are under, or how much sole searching they have done. anyway, in regard to all of this chapter, best of luck to all the lads, but "I'm out".
  18. I wish Chris all the best. He seems a good bloke who just wants his lads to work hard, and enjoy themselves. On the subject of the young lad: Regardless of whether you think he is wrong or right, I don't think it is fair to question his motives on a public forum. Connor joined Arbtalk last September. In all that time he has made a grand total of 5 posts. He doesn't exactly seem to court publicity does he? If you want to make a point to Connor, PM him. If you want to make a point to Chris, PM him. If you want to preach to the world about your opinions on Connor or Chis, maybe you should keep them to yourself. I don't think the lad should feel pressured into 'explaining' himself on here - that IMO is one step short of internet bullying, and there have been some well publicised cases recently of how badly that can end up.
  19. Decline?? Why does it matter if the neighbour gets hay fever or not. Surely the only reason to ask why that want the trees out is to assist with pricing? If you want to do your bit for the planet >> earn a fortune while you are young enough >> buy up a tract of ancient woodland with some decent vet trees in it >> Bang on about ecosystems and rotting leaves and fungal spores and stuff to whoever will listen >> inspire a generation >> die happy. Couple of silver birches......
  20. I thought hornbeam was for making didgeridoos? digerridoos must be the most annoying instruments EVER. ......Except for Violins
  21. Violins are nuffin...... .......could you imagine if she had got herself a violin?
  22. ....And here is another from last summer (August). Got a bit of Swedish fire log action going on there as well! Anyway. Enough of that. Back to your fancy kettles
  23. If it were me, I would insert climbing rope using throwbag as seen in green. Having footlocked upto the branch, I would the stand in the forks (red circles) that the previous bloke so kindly left, attached by a lanyard ('green rope' also attached handy for quick exit if necessary) Next would follow some making merry with the topper whilst undertaking some cut and chuck action. Home in time for tea and medals
  24. Think John meant "If it is on wheels there is no problem with the planners if i want to leave it in the woods."
  25. Biscuit Barrel? You are worse than me! I Blew £4.99 on a lighter chimney at Lidls. Bet the barrel does the job
