  1. The top one is a Landy type winch. The last 3 are an Igland 55 if my eyes don't deceive me. Not sure if the Winches are in the arbtrader section, But buy 'em all up anyway as I reckon Jon will be handing Steve tenners to the good causes for whatever he sells. cheers, Matt
  2. Whilst we are on the subject....... Could Jon interest you in a brace of winches he also texted me...
  3. The tools go up here.... No terrier worth his salt is going to allow anyone to sneak near this whilst you are working (or getting a burger!).
  4. First up.... Dog N Tools...... Inspired idea.... The dogs go in here. John says that the dimensions overall are 115cm wide, 115cm high and 115 deep. The partition (at the bottom ) where the dogs go is 75cm high. I am thinking small noisy and protective type dogs are best.
  5. I'm up for that Jon. You are a star... I'll stick 10 in as well. text on its way.
  6. Why do you think I suggested it. I have put lads through Lantra Maint and crosscut, then NPTC felling, then Lantra Climbing Quals. they are TOTALLY interchangeable. At the end of the day though, its Android Vs Ipad. Husky Vs Stihl. Landrover Vs HiLux. Cant change, wont change.
  7. .....good enough for me Jon.:thumbup: A thousand words can paint a picture!
  8. Rather than NPTC, I would choose LANTRA assessments - If nothing else you get a proper ID skills card rather than the stupid self adhesive fold over paper card rubbish that NPTC issue.
  9. I think some have given figure for MAN and chipper. OP was interested in rate for VAN and chipper (as it's his employer, he is already paying for the man!!)
  10. Of all the adverts that need to have a picture with them..... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/trading-place/64897-keep-your-kit-safe-dog-tool-box-one-07870-570-448-pics.html ....... surely this is one!
  11. I am guessing (along with everyone else) that the chain guns around even on tickover?
  12. That is not quite true though, is it? Matt was doing his job, and getting paid (That is, his job as a TV presenter) Regardless of who owns the land, his activities will be covered be the Health and Safety at work act. His employer (the BBC or whatever organisation actually make the program) would have had to comply with all usual aspects of health and safety law.
  13. Nah, I think you were better on your first attempt.
  14. 3x Ms200t (1 running properly, 2 in mixed states of not running properly) 1x a ground saw ('cause you can't use toppers on the ground) - lets say a Makita DCS6400, just to keep thing interesting.
  15. Ahhhhh, kids these days. Teleporters were made by a company called Sanderson..... I don't think it would have fitted in with the Starship enterprise..... More Red Dwarf IMO
  16. It wouldn't render the fine void, because there is no fine.
  17. I think we may be talking at crossed purposes. I 100% agree that turning a blind eye to an employee (or fellow employee) using a topper on the ground, is very bad practice, and is in breach of the obligations that staff and employers have as part of the Heath and Safety at Work Act. I don't do it at work, and I don't tolerate it in those that I am responsible for. My original point was that the "£2K fine for using a topper on the ground" is a myth. No one ever has, or ever will get an on-the-spot fine if they get caught. Any fine would be due to failing to comply with an improvement notice or a prohibition notice, or following a criminal prosecution following a serious accident.
  18. I was going to make my usual type of dullwitted comment, but as you say its shuttling back and forth from hospital I will be make 1 simple point.... If its winter weather you are battling with (especially ice) for christ's sake go for something light. I live in 'Chelsea tractor' land, and the first touch of ice, all the yummy mummies in their 2.5tonne traction controlled ABS breaked £80,000 4x4s tear down the hills and bust straight through the hedges on the first nice icy corner. they cant work out that if all 4 wheels are skidding on a zero friction surface, the best electronic gadgetry stands for nothing - they are only going one way, and that is straight forward. As well as driving 'proper' 4x4's I regularly drive nissan xtrails, freelander2s and vitaras. any of these will do whatever you ask of them on a road situation as long as you drive them (rather than drive 'in' them - if you see what I mean) Best wishes to you and your family.
  19. If a member of you staff injures themselves at work, your insurance company will only need to make a payout if the injured party makes a civil claim for damages. even then..... first it will be necessary for the injured party to demonstrate that you had a duty of care, it will also need to be demonstrated that the duty was breached, and that some form of loss was incurred. The court will then thrash about to work out what level of compensation is fitting. Finally the injured party will only be awarded the percentage of the award that is considered to be NOT their fault. (if its taken to be half the workers fault, they only get half the payout). The insurance company does not get the option to 'not pay out'. :-)
  20. Well, I guess your staff would be at work, which is different from the 'domestic situation'. There is nothing to suggest the saw of the OP will be used at work..... Its a Christmas present. I hope to get 'the sound of music' for Christmas. and some slippers. and some quality street. I do not intend to use ANY of these at work!
  21. Should have quoted me.... No escape that way!
  22. Sorry buddy. Deleted my post to stop be sounding like a grumpy old git (but didn't notice you had made a comment..) No probs, we just just keep it between ourselves 'eh?
  23. +1 Another example of HSE fantasy land. You are NOT going to cop a £2K fine for using a Top handled saw on the ground. The worst you will get is a prohibition notice. Most likely you will get an improvement notice. And even then, it is only in a 'work' situation. The HSE can't touch you for ANYTHING you do in the privacy of your home / garden. If you 'instructor' / 'assessor' / 'college' has stated this £2K rubbish, I would be seriously be concerned about the standard of all the other info you have been given as part of your training. You may not be able get a 'topper' from a main dealer, or possibly mail order, but you can pick them up as easy as you like from your average small dealer. been there, tried it.
  24. Coming to think of it, I do actually have a Stihl one. It hangs on a hook by the Larder door and is chiefly used as a thermometer to guess how hot the woodburner has got the kitchen (a popular family guessing game). (this time of year, it's generally 29 degrees - 32 if there is baking going on)
  25. That should read: ** and being Stihl, I should have all the benefit of going in person to a main dealer, so that I can have a face to face handover once they have fully questioned me and made sure that the product is fit for my expectations, so ensuring that I am a satisfied customer and that the Stihl brand never becomes tarnished...... Only kidding - Stihl are great (and what is more, I guess they are also a site sponsor)
