  1. hi all come across this today, and TBH I didn't know what it was. any help is always greatly appreciated
  2. its on this estate Glanusk Estate, Crickhowell, ive been there before great place
  3. yes they can with draw there wayleave agreement (assuming they have a pole on there land) but if that pole/cable supplies there property the DNO can refuse to supply power to there property. It gets more complicated when it doesn't supply you. I think the DNO has 2 years to remove it once cancelled
  4. That is true but as already stated the DNO have(or should maintain) the statuary clearance. but of course if the cable type is ABC then there is no safety distance requirement.
  5. That's true some of the cutting teams aren't the greatest but there are some good teams out there. You can be on site on the day of work, you can ask for the power to switched off (assuming the work can't be done live) or you can get them to clear the minimum amount and then finish the work yourself. Depending on close the branches are to the cable(or the cable type ), I won't do any work on the tree
  6. Yes some one should come out to you, it normally goes through as a reactive job. Its all paid for for, but may take a little for the work to be undertaken. Think it will be some from Glendale (WPD) in that area who undertake the work
  7. Thanks for your help Need to brush up on my id I think

  12. Hi all thanks for your input, yes would prefer small van, although a boarded out jimmy is a good idear, bit to small for my use. The FC used to use the kangoo 4x4, but trying to see what else is out there. I need it to be a similar size to a kangoo, Peugeot partner type van though. many thanks tree

  18. no the best pics, as some have move then one tree/shrub in the pic. 1-sycamore maybe 2-silver birch 3-? 4-garrya 5-photina 6-pttoporum 7-? 8-cherry laurel
  19. I wear a pair of stein sunglasses for work, cost around £10. Strong lightweight and cheap
  20. Great Thanks every for your help and input, will be ordering it this week now. Many thanks Tree
  21. I use the Collins guide to British trees, and I also use the hiller tree and shrub manuals(with pics), both good books. For fungi ID issue the AA fungi on trees and the manual of wood decay both good books again. Out on site the arbtalk fungi app is also very useful
  22. I've seen the polysteel 16mmx50m on ebay for £50 which is cheap, I've also seen the marrlow 3 strand(which is polysteel I think) for about the same price. But than I could get the Sirius bull rope for £100, not sure which is the better rope. I have 2 large ash trees to fell, the are straight forward, but I wanted to have a pull rope to give bit of extra assistance if needed. can you tie a bow line into the poly steel easy enough?
