  2. Any using map maker pro, just wanted peoples feedback on the software, mainly for bs5837 maps, and plotting trees for general surveys. AT £270 is cheap.

    gps

Try gps status or gps status+toolbox, both are free but u can upgrade the tool box one to store way points but as free apps they seem to work well and you still save the info by share option Not sure how it compares to a handheld gps but 3 tom accurate sound okay hope this helps

    gps

Just down loaded 2 apps and there both good, they average about 3-4m accurate, and you can email the link and coordinates, which when you click on the link will open Google with a way point marker. Might of just saved some money I think

  11. its well worth an ask, depending on how close the tree, they shouldn't refused, as by removing a tree which could still potentially damage there network, they will save in the long run. explain that the tree has to come out and you cant do it safely. Even they decide not to remove it completely, they need to leave it in a state so you can do the remaining work safely with the power on. (ie removing any overhang) good luck tree
  12. Technically you could do the job yourself under a shutdown and you can bill your customer and still bill the power company as well It's all stated in the regs

  17. the construction companies can be a nightmare. Think the biggest problem is they very little about tree work
  18. I also have a black managers card which says landscape and arb manager. I have the blue Liss card which lists all my nptc. Some site are asking more info on the cards. I was on site a while back and they wouldn't let dome of the guys on with just a basic card. Unfortunately some construction companies are quiet strict on policy so even nptc cards it wasn't enough
  19. Hi Paul I see yes makes sense. So if you had say a private estate to survey (not for bs5837) you could add a os map and the add the gps location. Just trying to find software that covers a wide range of applications many thanks Tree
  20. ive never used auto cad yet, im still in the hand drawing age, at the moment. With auto cad and similar programmes, I know you add in the tree measurements and the gps location, but where does the remaining site plan/map come from. Do you need to input a site plan from a surveyor first?. I know of a few people who use map maker, which I think uses OS based maps. many thanks tree

If you have done all your checks, and the appear to be unowned, I believe it goes back to the crown (Im not 100%). if this is the case, for which I have only come across once, the the crowns solicitors wont give permission as it means there admitting liability, but they wont object either, but as previously stated it is more then likely to LA owned The Crown Estate - FAQs hope this helps tree
