  1. Anyone who ever enjoyed being a scout! Could you please pay tribute to the scouting movement by voting for the Gilwell oak as the tree of the year, last time I checked it was in fourth place cheers forestgough
  2. THE CHAINMAIL GLOVES USED IN MEAT CUTTING PLANTS ARE QUITE EASY TO WEAR AND WOULD GO UNDER A GRIPPY GLOVE.YOU CAN GET THEM WITH JUST A THUMB AND FOREFINGER.
  3. RUSTIC LOG REINDEER AND SNOWMEN DONT SEEM TO BE SELLING SO WELL THIS YEAR,THINK I MIGHT OF SATURATED THE MARKET. ANYONE ELSE NOTICED A DROP IN SALES WHO SHIFTS THE MOST?
  4. I USUALLY PUT STUFF UP TO 70-80 MM THROUGH OURS,BUT IT WILL TAKE UP TO 110 MM FRESH SOFTWOOD.I FIND ANYTHING OVER 75MM LOOKS BETTER THROUGH THE SAWBENCH. NOWADAYS WE CHOP INTO 1M VENTED MESH DUMPY BAGS FOR EASY LOADER HANDLING. I DONT LIKE PUTTING TOO SMALL STUFF THROUGH,IT JUST LOOKS LIKE BIRD NEST MATERIAL BUT I SUPPOSE IF YOU WERE FEEDING A BIO BOILER IT WOULDNT MATTER,ONE BOILER GUY TOLD ME THE OTHER DAY THAT EVERY TELEHANDLER BUCKET WAS WORTH A HUNDRED POUNDS IN SUBSIDY. IF YOUR EVER IN MID WALES COME AND HAVE A LOOK AT OUR MACHINE
  5. IVE GOT A BRANCHLOGGER,ITS GREAT FOR MAKING FUEL FOR OURSELVES AND LIKE MINDED SOULS BUT I DONT THINK THE STUFF IS VERY MARKETABLE. CUSTOMERS ARE SET IN THEIR WAYS ABOUT WHAT THEY THINK IS GOOD FUEL,SO UNLESS YOUVE GOT LOADS OF CHIMENEA TYPES YOU WONT SELL MUCH OF IT. BUT THE FUEL HAS LOADS OF HEAT IN IT AND THE AMOUNT YOU CAN PRODUCE A DAY MEANS THAT WE DONT HAVE TO USE OUR MACHINE VERY OFTEN.
  6. My 357 will start and tick over ok but as soon as i give it any throttle it backfires and conks any ideas?
  7. I once had to leave both saws trapped in a trunck 200yds from town overnight. They were both still there at the crack of dawn when i returned with saw number three, but they wouldnt have been if me mates had known about it.
  8. Show us the ones your proud but ashamed of,missing bonnets, mudguards, wheels etc. Must be earning for you though.
  9. what an honour to be mistaken for mr plogs As for cod wood Well,i was only trying to make a clean breast of things, not legging it or trying to wing it.
  10. Ive got a big frozen turkey that i would like to cut in half question is could i split it with my pto saw bench safely and neatly
  11. Scary things them snails one followed me around all day once
  12. Difflock from the forum has got some secondhand black bags on ebay,if you wanted to try a few.
  13. Gets my vote, but im biased cos its only 12 miles from me. Just hope it survives the next couple of years cos the new road comes mighty close to it.
  14. Ive been following the progress of a chipping gang around bow street village in mid wales, there are at least 5 operatives but the work they shift in a day is truly pathetic.they get through a couple of stools of coppiced hazel each shift and spend the rest of the time sitting about or sleeping in vehicles. I know nobody is going work til they drop on these jobs but surely someone must notice the expense on a hundred metre job like this. Its tax payers money they are virtually stealing, can it be reported or am i being nieve.
  15. Im thinking,if it wasnt reported to any insurers at the time, then surely it didnt officially happen. They should be grateful for the £350.
  16. I love approaching a job in a friendly and relaxed manner whilst having ample breaks and being nice to my staff. Grrr,i just want to smash the job grab the money whilst beasting my hateful lazy team who i want to run to the chipper whilst not drinking tea, yahhhh.
  17. My zetor 3045 it cost £400 25 years ago and makes that back every couple of months, powering the splitter or sawbench, shame the 4wd has died on it.
  18. Might be obvious ,but it caught me out, those self feed drills only work in a reversible drill otherwise you have to back the thred out by hand if not drilling right through a piece.
  19. Hi rob how about making up some half and half[cheap and top brand] loops, for an equal test.same bar ,same oil, same enviroment etc.
  20. Theres 3 on ebay now total wrecks but i was dreaming of making one out of them but i think ive sobered up now,
  21. dont laugh, but if you ve got a workshop try making and flogging log reindeer and snowmen etc.I sold loadsthis year and couldn't keep up in the end, quite satisfying hunkered down on a rough old day.
  22. Anyone got any experience of these little vehicles are they easy to run expensive parts reliable or money pits etc etc
  23. I have made loads this year, and can really reccommend buying a veritas tenon cutter from axminster tools. If you havent seen one, they act like a big pencil sharpener and will totally end the need for gluing. Sorry i havent got the tech to show pictures of mine. I use an inch one to cut the leg and neck joints i have bought 200 sets of lights from poundland this year to add a bit of sparkle to things
  24. Everywhere i look the big stores have thousands of mass produced conifer based wreaths. I was just wondering if anyone knows the story of thier production, anybody make them in this country. Must need a hell of a lot of materials.
  25. Me old black and decker workmate is on its last legs and im looking at these superjaws clamps as an alternative, any thoughts please
