  1. Can we organise a tribute beating up of that muppet russell brand,as a mark of respect.
  2. Pretty sure its a hunter midi look on the hunter woodburners website go to archive section mum had one for 30 years but just changed it for a modern one which seems ten times hotter on half the log consumption
  3. Hello lux what drill are you using to tun a big bit like that
  4. Anyone got a good device for drilling 50mm plus holes in logs,to make leg sockets for lifesize rustic reindeer thanks paul
  5. I was planning on doing a couple of fairs selling reindeers and snow men,but one of the organisers is insisting i need traders liability insurance. Can antone tell me a good firm to get it from and how much it cost you cheers paul
  6. For what its worth? I bought 2 x rototech chains at the apf,for my 372 with 24 inch bar on. I had a specific job in mind, ringing and splitting a lime which had a butt of 4 foot diameter,i guessed there might be metal or stone inside so didnt want to sacrifice a new oregon chain. Sure enough i soon hit something, and lost edge completely it took a triple sharpening to remove the damage(big loss of chrome)but the rotatech seems to have come through it and is now ringing up nicely again. It cost me £20 for the pair of chains ,which i thought was good value for how they perform. Ideal for certain jobs and good enough for most users.
  7. Bought some at apf any one used it
  8. Well done on the success side, and can i say how nice it is hear a bloke praising his staff.you obviously have a good relationship with them and mutual respect.
  9. Does anyone know the results of the carving competition any pictures? I left before the judging
  10. Thanks chipper i shall direct my chauffeur to porkys fine dining and have my butler reserve a window table for my entourage which includes sir phillip green and mike ashley.
  11. Being a tight git,i was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere to eat near the show, rather than getting ripped off on site. I will be coming from leominster direction.
  12. Share your best quiet, scenic, basic campsites. No clubhouses, little hitlers or traffic just a tap and a toilet is fine and fires of course
  13. I have an old stanley ,the 1 metre stroke on the back splitter was for splitting stake lengths in two movements. It worked alright riving straightish oak blanks.
  14. My homemade splitter is just like the log shearer in the last post, its 25 years old now and has been fantastic. It has its own pump and reservoir and is pto driven, ive split thousands of tonnes with it,it has never been defeated by a log. Its great in demolition timber, nails, bolts etc. It will crosscut fresh timber real clean whilst pushing juice out of it,its a bit rough on dry timber and will chuck it 6 or 8 foot when crosscutting which is a bit exciting. I also use it to make kindling. I often wonder why more people dont make the guillotine style splitters instead of the boring old wedge on a ram type.
  15. shush,they might hear you.
  16. 18 inch square of ply, with 2 or three decking screws attaching it to bottom of log with cordless drill, takes about 30 seconds.
  17. Hi all im giving my trusty old zetor a 50th birthday makeover and im looking for a 4wd front axle,so if anyone has one laid up in the hedge please let me know.
  18. Spent a couple of hours this morning ringing up some fresh leylandii, when i got in the van that was parked about 20 feet away it was covered in fine particles and tiny hair type strands,it looked just the sort of stuff to get in your lungs.yet i hadnt noticed or felt any of it whilst sawing.
  19. Any evidence that a regular chainsaw operative should use a basic mask to protect the respiratory system.
  20. Blimey ben! Glad i wasnt working for you when i had my emergency.all this talk of money and it not being your problem is making you sound pretty hard nosed. But i guess business is business to some.
  21. Agnes comes home early one day,to find her husband Hamish making love to a wellington. Hamish she shouts"WILL YOU STOP F$%&ING A BOOT"
  22. The difference in presentation is amazing ,if you dont put twiggy material through the brancher. With twigs its like a crows nest without twigs its like nice mini logs and looks really marketable. Twiggy stuff is ok for own use,but takes up more storage space
  23. Regarding the price ofa dumpy bag,a really good question? Because the fuel is smaller than normal logs you get a lot more density in a bag{no air gaps}so i tend to think the fuel is worth at least as much as logs{£80 a cube offme} its just a case of getting customers hooked on the stuff to start with. It might be a case of giving out freebies to get people interested. The alternative/green types love the concept of saving stuff from the bonfire.
  24. I was well impressed with liguid metal that i used to stick a patch over a hole in a sump, its still going strong after 6 months. If the crack is on a flat surface and you can get it really clean i would give it a go.
  25. We have the 110 tractor mounted version we use the fuel in our own household woodburners, but are hoping to find people with rhi systems to try the fuel in and give feedback. What i like about the fuel is its a genuine waste product that would have been chipped or bonfired.
