  1. I know its not very scientific but here are the resultsof the survey I got 45 replies that I could place geographically Only 3 replies from Scotland ranging from 90-133 percube average 109 11 replies from north 65-100 average 81 13 midland/wales 60-117 average 84 8 home counties 60 - 102 average 87 5 west/s.west 60-100 average 82 So not much difference on averages, but the surprising thing is the range of price around the country.
  2. Maybe if or when farmers lose their grants and subsidies they will be keener to manage the woods for firewood. But then they will probably clearfell it all for greed.
  3. Any thoughts on what lies ahead for the firewood industry. If they are selling 250,000 stoves a year wheres all the fuel coming from in ten years time Timber seems to be getting scarcer each year.
  4. Im a technophobe like you,but my daughter put some logs on facebook for me last year and I picked up a nice little order off it.So im pleased and think its a good way to get to the new generation who live and die by their mobiles.
  5. Sorry eggs,i snapped a bit then.i was just expecting 50 figures, but your right there are to many variables to keep it simple.
  6. Forget it ,i knew it would be over complicated
  7. lets have 50 replies to this simple question ,to get a national average firewood price for 2014 WHAT DO YOU CHARGE PER CUBE OF REASONABLY SEASONED MIXED FIREWOOD DELIVERED il start with £80
  8. I made one out of an old hospital bed which pumps up and down,i mounted it on a trailer chassis.I then fabricated a sawrail which stays static on chassis made from old stairlift to create basic slabber with up and down adjustment[must put some pics up]
  9. When im facing a bad weather day ,I try to do at least one little job that ive been saving or putting off. That usually brings me back out from misery. CLEAN WORKSHOP PAINT SOMETHING UP SERVICE SOMETHING GO AND BUY A BIT OF KIT MAKE A MONEY SAVING PHONECALL[i rang BT while rained off and saved £100 off my annual bill]
  10.

  11. I once managed to get two saws trapped in the same tree, had to leave them stuck overnight.Mate said if he had known he would have taken the bodies off and hidden somewhere just to see my face next morning, when I found just the bar and chains sticking out of the trunk.
  12. Show us your roughest working tractors, still earning their keep.I bet there are some shockers out there.

  15. What kind of money would that be delivered to LLanidloes
  16. Anybody help me to find a load, good, bad,or ugly.Must be local tu Llanidloes Powys,so no dreamers please.
  17. Hopefully once there are enough of the machines about, the fuel can be given some kind of a brand name, cos I don't really know what to call the stuff. One idea I had was choppedstix
  18. If only there was a scheme where a subsidy could be earnt for burning this type of fuel there would be less chip about.
  19. You tend to find about half the fuel is thrown on by hand like normal logs, then the rest is shovelled or scuttled on.
  20. Ive got the welmac 110 that cuts up to 4 inch diameter, thats all im using on my woodburner. When I attack a whole tree,i cut the saleable firewood out and then put the small stuff through the branch logger for my own fuel. Im also starting to sell bags of the logettes slowly, the old hippy types like the principle of no waste.
  21. Wheres the bloody RSPCA when they are needed to help the farmers,if horses or dogs were at risk they would be chucking resources at the situation. RSPCA has millions in the kitty to help, next thing you know they will be trying to prosecute farmers on crazy welfare charges.
  22. Don't think bumbles make much of a nest, nor do they reach great numbers so not much to worry about. I know that's easy for me to say ,also they rarely sting and tend to live in holes.
  23. I have a pioneer 400 and it runs on hardly any wood and will stay in all night,i don't want to state the obvious but do you realise the door handle threads in and out to improve the door seal, sorry if you already knew that. Im sure clearview would like to know about the problem.
