  1. It's not his hands that I'm worrying about!
  2. Oh, it's in a masonry chimney, with a liner fed through. No insulation around the liner. Chimney was a bit damp when installed, but stove installer said he'd sorted the flaunching and it should dry out, eventually...
  3. Hi folks This is a heta inspire, installed maybe 5 years ago. Used a few times a week when cold, or a few times a month when not too bad. I discovered this rust round the back, which I assume isn't ideal. Does it mean condensation is running down the chimney liner inside? Should I be concerned? There's enough rust to brush off loose flakes, and it smells a bit sooty when there's a down draught... Thanks.
  4. That's the one. Evaporated milk and sugar.
  5. Facebook marketplace? Quite a few scammers. There's Folksy, a UK Etsy equivalent I think, but never sold or bought anything on it. I like the Jack Skellington(?) figurey things.
  6. Kent! I went to school there and had gypsy tart, flippin delicious. Told my wife about it and she thinks I made it up, never seen it anywhere else!
  7. Nitens grows quickly but wouldn't coppice for me
  8. Eucalyptus? Not native, but good burning wood, quick growth (very quick), coppice if you choose the right varieties... They drink a lot of water so would dry out ground, don't know how they cope with sodden ground, but mine seem to thrive in soggy South Wales. Having said that, I've planted a few coppices of euc for firewood production in a paddock - not sure I'd want to plant them in a proper woodland setting, they don't look natural.
  9. Because without G he'd be anus! Took me a minute!
  10. How big are the crates?
  11. Having said that, the glass on my burley clouds up quite badly. And eventually the glass hazes and can't be cleaned, as the fire burns so hot!
  12. So gay!
  13. When my wife and i were looking at flower suppliers for our wedding, one of them offered us "lesbian teas", by which she meant fruit teas, mint tea etc. Ha.
  14. Don't rush in, watch it for a year or so and see what happens, what grows where etc. Enjoy!
  15. I recently bought a grafting knife on Amazon, just as it caught my eye. It's OK, but nothing like as sharp as my ancient Opinel.
  16. High temp sealant. I find fire cement cracks. There should be some sort of collar on the stove you put the flue into, then fill with high temp sealant.
  17. I'm in South Wales and can cut you euc foliage?
  18. I've always found that strange. "I've filmed you comitting a crime, got you bang to rights". "Ah, no, you didn't tell me you were filming, so it doesn't count". But if you warned them you were filming / recording, they wouldn't commit the crime!
  19. Lit the fire now. Good to have it going again, such a cheerful, dry warmth
  20. Damp is all around me... And so the mould grows...
  21. Put the heating on for an hour for the first time today, mainly to see if it works before we really need it. Evenings are getting cold and dank though, sure I'll light the fires before long.
  22. That's probably right. I burn around 10m3 per year just in two wood burners.
  23. If I remember right, boiler stoves are harder to come by now due to emissions regulations. Could you straighten the ash pan door with heat and a hammer, or a hydraulic press / car jack?
  24. Marsh warbler...?
  25. Betty swollocks here.
