  1. Ha. The spare saw I'm using is ........... A 242!! Whoop.
  2. Thanks stubby. Have tried that, and all sorts of combinations, but she won't go! Typical. 5 days of Rhody clearance this week! Bah.
  3. Hello. I have a 2yr old 550xp. It's been starting ok when cold, but can't start it when warm. Any ideas folks? Have any of you had similar problems? Thanks
  4. I have some in Exeter. Any good?
  5. Does 'pruning' include coppicing then? Could I fell over my 5 cube, and claim I was ' coppicing', even if they are 40-60cm dbh??
  6. If the chip is not left for a year to breakdown a bit, then I seem to remember that it robs nitrogen from the soil, as it rots down. Probably not a big issue for the willow, but might be worth scraping back chip from the new whips to be safe. Depends how many whips there are tho!
  7. Got them on my 550xp. Bloody lovely. Apparently they help reduce white finger too.
  8. It might have already been said, but look around at the trees doing well, and you'll get an idea of what would do well there. Cheers
  9. Hi there. Where are you? Cheers.
  10. Ring an insurer, Trust, or NFU for example. They will tell you what's needed.
  11. Thanks bud! I feel it's the only way to go, after watching all those old school politicians slagging each other off, the Greens have a much better approach. Maybe it's because they are led by a woman!! Like the SNP, and Plaid Cymru!
  12. Leylandii makes great fencing etc. Lasts a long time outside. So much resin in it. Useful for all sorts of things.
  13. Hi there all. Thanks for all the interest. Sorry I didn't get back to you all. I'm sorted now for help, but will post again if that changes. Cheers.
  14. Hello. I have a couple of weeks work cutting rhododendron near Axminster. One week in early Feb, then another early March. £100/a day, plus bonus on completion. Looking for 2 more people to make a gang of 5. Text or call on 07957 567374 if you are interested. Thanks. Francis Tickets needed.
  15. They could drop trident replacement, and save a few quid. Just saying!! ;-)
  16. Er, gloves. Your hands can take a hammering when fencing. No pun intended! :-)
  17. In fact even with a geotextile, you might find 150 mm too thin. My track only has 4x4's on it, and is only 2-2.5m wide, and has soft spots which need topping up, so remember to put in plenty of drains or culverts to carry water away.
  18. The civil engineer above should know that geotextile is cheap per metre.compared to adding more stone!! Very cheap. When I bought 5 rolls for my woods, I think it was about £100 for a roll. I think it was 4.5 m wide, and 100m long. Very cheap, and if your track needs to be 4m wide, then it could be expected to carry heavy vehicles. 150mm of stone soon moves about, and mixes with the soil underneath. Definitely use a geotextile! Or at least double the thickness of stone. Just sayin! I have pretty clayey soil btw.
  19. Depends where you are. I did some training with the Devon Rural Skills Trust. Very high standards, and also some volunteering for the local wildlife trust. Good luck.
  20. Look good John boy. Will check my mate out and see if he's up for it. See you soon mate. Cheers
