  1. Mmm can’t say I’d ever had my nostrils waxed before going to this Turkish barbers and the fact it’s grown back just as fast probably won’t bother again![emoji107]
  2. This is a conversation I had with a colleague yesterday. What is going to be on offer vehicle wise for the industry in the near future with Diesel engines seemingly shrinking in power output. If 4x4 is a genuinely needed option, for the smaller trader is an underpowered pick up tipper the only option if Iveco, Merc, MAN, DAF’s are twice the price. Will we see Defender tdi’s and RB44’s used more and more. These workhorses all get a fair amount of stick, if you are buying now and it’s a longish term investment, what do you go for? Cheers I
  3. I guess they are there for a reason, like you say to keep all the rubbish out of the old hooter. Middle age just seems to have given mine a sprinkle of fertiliser! Sorry if I’ve turned this into a personal hygiene thread[emoji40]! Cheers I
  4. How bout the thinner the hair on the top of my head becomes, the quicker growing and thicker my nostril hair gets! Like it’s all jumped ship! Went to a Turkish barber the other day to have a bit of a buzz cut and beard trim. He offered nostril waxing...pulled out nearly half the New forest!!! ?[emoji85][emoji15]
  5. Never worn glasses. At 47 Opthamologistthingy said it’s very common at that age to start needing them even just for reading. Now at night I’m speccy....
  6. Agreed Swinny [emoji106] especially a very nice 2nd hand one nearby [emoji848]??
  7. Amen brother. Onwards and upwards [emoji106][emoji106]
  8. Those are fabulous [emoji106][emoji106]
  9. Hurtling along towards 49 this year. Body has been creaking and patched up throughout the 40’s. Done Radio 2, Classic FM and yes BigJ the Archers for years as well. Conscious of not wanting to get a “thing” about Joan Collins and her mates I’ve decided I’m going back to being 21 again... where did you buy your Jet ski from J?...
  10. Load of Bobbins ?!! (Sorry if that’s been done)
  11. Asian longhorn beetle [emoji849][emoji850] Sorry Cheers I
  12. Sorry Tim if I’m being a bit slow in the uptake. ALB is?
  13. Those are beauties [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. I would side with Khriss on this Ryan, However skilled your volunteer workforce is, dealing with someone else’s windblown free of charge doesn’t stack up (no pun intended) The inherent danger of dealing with something as unpredictable weight, volume, tension and compression of windblown trees isn’t a job to be done for “free”. I understand it’s leased on your part, and honestly I’m not telling you how to run your business, but if the majority of fellas on here are telling you it’s dangerous, well...... that’s why skilled tree work costs money. I doubt Fred Dibnah dropped many chimneys for a cup of tea and a biscuit..... As I say Ryan, I’m not just stirring the proverbial but maybe a longer term budget should be planned to have paid foresters come in and do RAMS and associated works. All the best with the project Best wishes Ian
  15. Not sure if they are still AA approved but T.Mousleys’s at Claverdon, Solihull are worth giving a ring. Very experienced outfit who will do the job right. Cheers Ian
  16. If a “Large Dumpy Bag”(which probably equates to 0.65-0.75m3) around here in North Yorkshire is £65, then that would tally with Hedger and Rough Hewn’s area Cheers I
  17. I run a 57 plate Mazda BG50, it certainly ain’t a looker but copes with everything it gets thrown at it![emoji106]
  18. Sorry Big J don’t want to derail your thread but years ago I had a Daihatsu four track (think it was a “G” Reg prefix) unbelievable thing for pulling. Something like that maybe would have suited?... don’t know why they stopped making them really. I took the back seats and the fold down 6 & 7 seats in the boot out, it made a cracking commercial work horse. Cheers I
  19. The numbers suggest that, agreed Spud dog, Big J has reservations of Sitka flourishing on such a dry site though. As I said I’m no expert, but do you think they would still produce a better yield than Douglas F. if not in ideal conditions? Cheers I
  20. Big J, I’m no expert but from the bit of reading I’ve done and various stuff off the tinterweb I think your ideas are a pretty well informed choice. See the screen shot from an FT article a couple of years ago. Dougie firs seem to yield a good profit margin when comparing the growing cycle compared to other species. Cheers I
  21. Hang on Fellas, I’m really no expert and equations like this one made my eyes bleed at school, but in a nutshell. Is it down to a combination of the 3? Engine power output x sprocket size x bar/chain length A bit like that balancing birds conundrum thing in the back of the in-laws newspaper? Then you have to add contributing factors sharpness of chain, operator fitness/skill, balance of saw/bar combo?
  22. That sounds the winner[emoji122]Trip to the butchers tomorrow [emoji106]
  23. Bet that looks a cracking hedge now ???
