  1. So having done 67hrs work this week, the better half working today and having worked everyday this past week/weekend (shes a "womens problems" nurse up the hospital) ive got the sunday off.... Or so I thought, first job after dropping her to work at 7.30, then nip around her mates and hang a couple of window blinds, go get some veg for tonights roast on the way back home, feed the dogs, wash the dishes from last night as we didn't get in and eat til nearly 9, on the 3rd load of washing in the washing machine this morning etc and no doubt more as the day goes on.... What happened to my sunday morning lay in?? Is it just me/other half going mad or has that sunday day of rest well and truly gone for everone? I suppose I am up at 4,30 every morning so atleast 6.30 was a bit of a lay in....
  2. Well I have got a new pro-lite 20" Oregon bar that would fit it. Just ordered a new full chisel chain as not got one spare so will give it a go. Thanks peeps. Wasn't sure how the pro-lite bar would stand the abuse an 044 can give but willing to give it a go and have some fun in the process lol.
  3. Anyone ever tried and had good results? ie no issues with spilt fuel taking paint off etc Debating giving it a go on the 044 as starting to look rather well used now. Wasn't sure what paint to use for the best results.
  4. Ive used this ebay seller and never had a problem until my last purchase where clearly they had been sent out and made the u.k but not me. Despite emailing them I had no reply and had to do the resolution process through ebay and had money refunded. this week. As said never had an issue before with them and probably a one off.
  5. Most people play safe and just stick a 3 notch headgasket in. When you get the original out it will have a notch/notches on the outside of it somewhere and for each head skim you add 1 notch. All well and good if your head just needs a light skim but heavy skim ideally you want to go up 2. You wont notice the difference using a 3 notch and playing safe. I think you can even get a 1.6mm as they are rather prone to going. If you do do the timing belt mark the pullys with paint or a hacksaw cut. Ive come across more than one where they run terrible on the factory marks, had a 300tdi once that was 2 notches out on the diesel pump mark and that's how it left the factory.
  6. Cant decide which length or type bar to go for on my 044. Such a simple decision yet I keep changing my mind. Ive got a ported 357xp with 18" , ported husq 365 with 20" so the obvious thing is 24 or 28. Tbh I don't use it much as the smaller saws are adequate as most of what I cut is under 20" or so. Then I think why go so big for a saw I don't use much and considering im a tight arse and the extra expense... Oh decisions decisions Thought at one point just to try find a second hand 28" on ebay or something but hate the thought of possibly some junk turning up only fit for the scrap pile...
  7. Good tip to remember and so frustrating when you see people doing the opposite and then wander why there weld isn't smooth.
  8. Pretty straight forward job on the 200 lump. Just beware the manifold bolts are prone to snapping on them as soon as you touch them. You can pull the manifold back far enough to get the head off without removing the turbo. I would certainly say change timing belt whilst you have it off, and atleast the 200 hasn't got a superseded belt like the 300 which had rubbing problems as the didn't run true. Break the crank bolt by the usual breaker bar and crank the engine method.
  9. Engine model could be 3TNV70-STB Appears your model minidigger suffers from having a small radiator which the fins are prone to clogging up with dust and dirt. Not saying that's the cause but certainly worth checking and keeping an eye on for peace of mind once its sorted out.
  10. My bets on headgaskets blown to. Replacing its not to bad depending on how accessible it is. Don't go down the route of trying to use any of the quick fix "liquids" if its boiling the water that quickly. Do you know which model engine it is? They are used in so many various things from tractors, boats, generators etc so pays to shop around for spare parts.
  11. Cant beat it when an ingenious plan comes together lol. Well done.
  12. Certainly true regarding the EU connection. Look where its got us now, picking words carefully lots of people outside the uk here working and sending money from our economy back to there own and we wander why we are crisis point. Back in the 80's people didn't struggle for money like at the moment, house prices where acceptable etc and most working citizens could afford to get on the housing ladder. As for heavy industry that's more a case of labour killing it off.
  13. Seems the only ppl that didn't like her where from the mining community? She had the british interest and pride at heart and it was a much better place than it is now. The economy was a much better place. So lets take Arthur Scargil, thrown out the NMU in the end by the members, claimed tax in the expenses row for a flat that didn't exist, helped reduce a sentence on a murderer down to 8 years imprisonment....
  14. Wont forget that- its the same as mine lol
  15. Thanks Rich/Agg Just sent him a message via ebay so will keep my fingers crossed.
  16. True, we could mention about ginger men called Arthur Scargill ...
  17. I think you will find your issue will be as per the utube link. I would get new oil pick up and feed pipes depending on the year of it. The earlier ones use 1 pipe to do both and later ones use 2 separate pipes. They can leak under any pressure and drip down over the oil pump and onto the adjustment screw. I also smear a bit of sealant on the grommet that seals the tube in the oil tank as a precautionary measure as ive knwn them weep on that aswell. Whilst your in there you may want to change the filter on the oil pick up at the same time as you will be removing it and for a few quid it makes sense. Personally I think the 1 piece tubes are better than the 2 piece tube of the later models and are interchangeable.
  18. Well said worcswuss Its a sad day, definetly the only worthy prime minister that's been any good for this nation in my lifetime. Worthy of the name iron lady, had bigger balls than anyone we've seen since and had great british pride in her heart and wouldn't allow it to be walked over like everyone since. Atleast she kept this country British, unfortunately now with the European union etc we are in a serious downward spiral of losing it....
  19. Thanks for the advice altho I cant seem to find him on ebay? Have you an old link or something I could try?
  20. This may help. Its where more often than not it leaks from. Its more than likely where Spud says on the connection of the pump. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnMriFIwGyw]Husqvarna chain oil leak repair 346 - YouTube[/ame]
  21. Spent half my day searching on the net for a rear handle/tank for a stihl 044 but its looking like its gonna have to be a new one.... Only think ive done on the bench today is strip and clean a stihl ts400 cut off saw and get it back together and retune....
  22. New affluent workers This class group is sociable, has lots of cultural interests and is in the middle of all the class groups in terms of wealth. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group: Are young Come from a working class background Own their own home
  23. Sounds like everyones been busy. I finally got around to starting up a 1985 husqy 50 ive just put a new ported top end, new coil and stripped and cleaned and new gaskets etc in the carb. Bought as a non running project and not used in over 10 years. Sounds soooo bloody quiet think it may need a muffler mod, hardly hear it running!
  24. Yes it can be done, but if its a zama carb you may find you need to upgrade to a walbro wd-12b. Sometimes there can be a few idle and initial "first rev" issues with some zamas but not all. Its around that's sort of era they changed up to the warlbro upgrade so you may be lucky and get a walbro on it anyway.
