  1. Ya you got me there...I should have worded it differently....what I should have said is that’s what he should be looking at to be paying for a local tree surgeon.
  2. Depending on access and if you want to keep the wood or not and I would charge something around £1’200/£1’400
  3. Time for some new climbing rope and pinned it down to the new yale prism 11.7mm but can’t seem to find it available in uk at mo only American arbs suppliers..can anyone help who can help???
  4. Thanks for that Steve and great to hear the APF is still going ahead, and thanks you for putting up link to vertual Arb Show and am shaw next years Arb Show will be special one.
  5. Well the weather is perfect for the Arb Show this year and if things were normal in this crazy world we are living in at the moment I would be doing a small Conifer job tomorrow in Cheltenham, quick drive back home sort myself out and then a nice little drive down to tetbury and through to westernbirt and be at the Holford for about 6.30/7 meet up with the lads who are camping or staying in the lodges or the pub few beers/food,chat and general catch up(I was staying down the next village this year as I couldn’t get in at the Holford Arms it was fully booked up months ago. Then up for a nice breakfast on Saturday morning and a slow drive up to the show for 9am opening, sun shining, all the lads who don’t see from one year to the next, beers, burgers, buying stuff that you don’t need, good walk around about 100 times in a circle seeing the same stuff you looked at on the 50th time but what a lovely thought to be knowing you would be doing that and a shit thought knowing it won’t be happening this year(maybe the APF will still go ahead in September as I haven’t herd anything about it being cancelled yet). looking forward to Arb Show next year and maybe we can have a massive celebration and make up for missing this year?
  6. Like the man said, stay alert and just be sensible but what I have seen especially last Friday a lot of people aren’t capable of doing either.
  7. Laziness is a drug your right Mick because the more you do it the more you will do it and for longer.
  8. Yep there definitely needs to be some incentive and not just to keep throwing money at the situation,i’am sure there are many genuine people who for no fault of there own cannot get back into work and have already lost there jobs but like I said this is a Taylor made situation for those chancers who will want to stay at home and get paid for doing jack shit...I guess on thr up side if they don’t go back there will be plenty who would be in line to take there place.
  9. So the furlough payments are going to continue till October even at a reduced rate and would you believe it that many people are supposedly refusing to go back to work even though they are quite able too..this is a perfect time and circumstances for those who are out and out lazy bastards who take any opportunity to not go to work and have as many days of as possible...I know a few like that and i’am guessing some of you guys on here know at least one person who will be loving this and dragging it out till the last.
  10. Very sad news for those of us who watch Gardeners World that Monty Dons Golden Retriver Nigel passed away today and all of us who have had dogs what a great loss it is when they finally have there time.i have the book which monty wrote about his beloved Nigel and its a fab read....with all the crap going on at the moment it’s just a horrible time to lose a close friend and there is just something about a dog and what they give you that no human can ever do.RIP Nigel.
  11. Just a bit more information might help you on your way, location and maybe your day rate,if you willing to travel etc.you just never know who is looking and were.best if luck?
  12. Well it looks like London Planes are being attacked by a Fungus now, some of the queens trees at Buckingham Palace have a fungus(Massaria) which is attacking the tress’s there and in the Royal Parks and slowly moving around the capital it doesn’t kill the tree as such but can do if the diseased are not removed for the week being of the tree and safety reasons.councils have no money as it is so just another nail in the coffin for some of our fabulous trees.
  13. This isn’t about me which you seem to have turned it in to so you do want you need to and I’ll do what I need to,I haven’t said anything about what you should be doing yet you feel you should be telling me. simply make a comment as the post suggest or don’t get involved and turn it into a dig and get personal as this kind of thing seems to be happening more and more on the this forum lately as is all the bad language which is allowed now which never used to be and no one gets pulled up for it anymore. Thats me done.
  14. I don’t need to but if I had to I would and that’s the difference because at the end of the day it’s about self respect as well as earning a living.
  15. Ya..you got to WANT to earn the money and that means working for it which a lot don’t want to do...everything on a plate.
  16. It’s all about the WANT and if you don’t want it bad enough then you won’t do it and it’s that simple...the Eastern European’s want it more because there circumstances are different from ours as far as state help is concerned and there standard of living and who can blame them from wanting to work hard for a better life, you will find in any walk of life if someone wants it bad enough they will do it. yes farmers make great deal of money but it’s still hard to find home grown labour so if you can get good reliable people to turn up,crack on then go straight home and not to the pub and get rat arsed and not turn up the following day,not moan about the weather and bringing all there home life problems with them to work and have to leave early every other day I would take that as an employer. But I would still love to be able to give local and home grown labour the jobs if given a choice but it’s not like that anymore.
  17. In total agreement with as said above, when you get people who would rather sign on then do a days work that to me just about sums up how this country has got...young girls having baby’s before they are old enough and capable of looking after them and the dads just as young and then goverment supply’s the house, money to live on and all sorts of benefits which adds up to more what they could possibly earn doing a full time job so the logic is why work for far less then what you can get for doing sweet FA. The system is the problem not the young people who have been given the choice as years ago there wasn’t,you either Work’d to put food on the table and a roof over your head or you basically got nothing. But back to my main point, surly there are enough young to middle aged people in this country who could and are very capable of doing a days work with no one cracking a whip for a decent amount of money and it could also open up opportunity’s for the right people.
  18. As far as I understand the farmer who is a company director for a big veg & fruit company paid £40’000 to fly 150 romainans over to teach uk workers how to do the job correctly but they are struggling with numbers.
  19. Well it certainly comes to something when this country need to be flying in plane loass if foreign workers to pick the fruit and vegetables that need picking, is the uk work force really that bad that we can’t get our own people to do this ,what the hell is going on?i have put my name down on a couple of sites for land army with all my details but no one has got in touch.so do the farmers prefer to have Eastern European’s doing the work, are they less trouble and harder working?your thoughts.
  20. I’ll end it now...I was going on self employed rates that’s all,so genuine mistake on my part but why all the hostility and over reaction.
  21. Ok chippy wind your neck in,talk about over reaction.?
  22. I know things are a bit tight for a lot of guys at the moment at not being funny in anyway but you need to up that £150 by another £100 for a lead climber with 4+ years experience £90 to £150 won’t get you what your looking for groundies get £90/£120.
  23. Contact jack Moody based in Cannock there is contact details on here I will see if I can find it for you. This is there head office in Cannock contact number 01922 917648 obviously may be shut but give it a try.or ring Steve Jess 07834101949.
  24. Stu I didn’t intend or want to open up a can of worms here I was just genuinely in an open public forum saying thank you to Greenmech & Global for the way they have treated me over these last few years and again just recently and I can only speak from personal experience.i thought it was a good opportunity on my part to show my appreciation to Greenmech uk if you like for there after market care and to the boys and girls at Global especially Andy for there quick response to my Chipper issue..may be i’am a lucky one but all the same credit were credit is due...and I would also like to say even though I don’t know you stu a big well done for bouncing back from the shit you have been put in over recent times. wayne
