  1. Totally agree with you this site used to be very helpful and not full of piss takers & knob Jockeys and definitely no bad language was allowed and it’s got to the stage were you think twice about responding to a post without some smart arse knobheads going completely off topic,it’s like they have something personal against certain poeple and just wait for them to respond to a post and have a dig...ummm I wonder who thay may be.?????
  2. Exactly my thoughts and as long as he has put enough on the job to pay for someone to come and chip and remove what he has cut and still make himself a decent wage I can’t see a problem, works work at the end of the day.
  3. Not sure if there is such a thing as cheap insurance but I have been with Tree Surgery Insurance for a number of years now and had to claim a few years ago,had no issues with claim and have looked after me.i guess if I shopped around I could save a few quid but will stick with them now as I know them and they know me.
  4. I had a 165 on demo but it was a diesel as I had to wait to long for the petrol...I liked the vertical rollers and bigger infeed shute...never had a diesel machine and having this one on demo hit home why I don’t like them...the weight is the biggest issue as the 165D weighs in at 1000kg. Compared to the petrol version which is around 860kg but Greenmech have done a bit of tweaking and have brought the weight down to below 800kg now and chopping my 150p in as it is still in really good condition and low hours so getting rid...could get more if sold it private but haven’t got the time to muck about.
  5. Chris I have been running a Greenmech 150p for around 2years now and can only say good things about it....am not the type of guy who has ever messed about with engines and doing my own fault finding and repairs and in 2 years I have only had a couple of minor mechanical issues which was sorted under warranty.it runs an chips great and the engine is well man enough being a 36hp Briggs. will be chopping my 150p in for a new 165 Evo petrol next few weeks which is an even better machine.so don’t be put off by a petrol and you will definitely be pleasantly surprised how good they are.
  6. Always very dangerous to post Reduction Type works on here,it’s kind of an unwritten rule not to comment...the main thing is if you think it looks ok and the client is happy then all good.?
  7. Exactly..I gave my opinion and get slatted for it so what’s the point?am all for a good discussion but I don’t need to justify myself to anyone on here or anywhere else. i knew it wouldn’t be to long before the shit started.to many knobheads on here now just like stirring the shit,it was a good thread now it’s ended up like the rest of them on here, gets personal and that ends it.
  8. O here we go....what ever mate.
  9. I think we have all slightly moved away from the subject and questions as asked by the poster so best leave it now...hope the job goes well for who ever gets it and for the client.?
  10. What????..the whole idea of being paid cash is you don’t put it in the bank and as for standing there counting it who gives a f—k...it’s takes 2 mins to count that out.god I must be getting old.
  11. Ya i’am enjoying it funny enough?
  12. Asking a question is a lot different to haggleing....there is always room for movement for cash...haven’t any of you put a price in and lowered it for cash...Christ sake you lot take a chill pill anybody would think you were doing the job.
  13. Who said anything about haggleing down the price? I just said if he can get it down to £3’500 in my opinion that would be about right money for the job.
  14. If you can get him down to £3’500 I would say that would be around the correct price to take down tree, remove all timber + woodchip and stump grinding.
  15. Ash is good burning wood and of course it’s worth money but not as much as you would think,it has to be moved, processed and stored and sold before you get any money for it,the owner would get minimum price for it but a better option which I use as I don’t do logs is get someone who sells logs just o come and remove all the wood if they want it which saves a lot of work which you would otherwise have to do yourself.work smart not stupid.
  16. Removal of all cord and timber has put a whole different slant on the job unless the piece of ground at the back is convenient to cut and stack all cord and leave the rings for Mother Earth to take back? Moving all that wood has increased the job to double the price and another day and a half + easy if everything has to go. just wondering if you told the guy who came around and quoted you £4.5k+VAT all the wood had to be taken away?and have you had any other quotes yet?
  17. If you look at the first photograph even though it looks like a fairly big canopy it’s not that dense as there are other trees behind makeing it look thicker then it really is and yes just the 2 central stems which makes the job quite easy and quick to get down and I stand by my pricing that any decent local tree surgeon who is competent at the job would get that down in a day with a 3 Man Team and cleared as all useable timber will be left on site...it’s just my thoughts on the job and not disagreeing with anybody else’s price.
  18. Not getting into a slanging match,I know what I ment and if anybody interpreted that way that’s fine...it’s not the end of the world is it really.
  19. I said if I were local that would be the price..who said anything about difficult access and wood removal.?
  20. Yes I did mike your correct but that was if I was local and just for tree take down and didn’t include stump grinding which he has since mentioned.my apologies for confusion.putting a readable sentence together isn’t my best practice.
  21. Ok let’s keep it simple...we have seen the photographs of the tree, house and the guy has explained access so let’s have it,I have stood up to the plate and have given this guy a guide price of around £2k to £2.5 what he should be looking at to remove the tree and stump grinding given the information supplied so what price would others would be quoting just for a variation for the job poster to work on.
  22. Like I said jo we all have our own ways of doing jobs and pricing..you don’t fancy it that’s fine that’s why we all have work because someone will do it...quoting for jobs isn’t rocket science and if a local tree surgeon team of 3 couldn’t take that tree down in a day for less then £4.5k + vat then there are some seriously well off tree companies in and around the Cardiff area If that is there price structure.
  23. WTF...no no no that will take it to well over £5k it can be done for half that price so who ever gave you that price tell them to do one.
  24. Not if most of the timber is staying on site, anything 5” upwards makes good logging use.i still say £1’400 3 Man Team 1 day Stump Grinding £275/£375 so he should be looking at the whole job done for just under or around the £2’000 mark. we all have our own way of doing jobs and pricing that’s why we are all making a living doing what we do,not all quoteing jobs the same.
  25. £2-£2.5 k way to much even for dismantle tops £1’400 3 Man Team just a good days work.
