  1. If it has big ears and wears a spotted dickie bow - it's either Robin Day or Mickey Mouse... you choose.
  2. Have a gander through here: http://www.dorsettrailertraining.com/front.html
  3. Because the councils don't have enough money to chase & prosecute. They just want them gone, so the problem is not on their patch. The police either can't find them and or when they do, can't usually pin anything solid on them. Or it's, "We've found your £30,000 stolen caravan. But we can't impound it or get it back to you, as the people who stole it, have some of their relatives living in it." And because the law's an ass when it comes to travellers.

Ah. I'm thinking that's a good excuse to send it of to Spud'
  6. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Aspen yet! Ok, so maybe 'A' is not for him, mind you, there does appear to be online retailers for Stihl consumables.
  7. I rather suspect that small, (and large) plant which is liberated in the UK, goes straight oversees to be resold or has been taken to order as part of SOB's wishlist.
  8. Perhaps someone in the LA likes to look at them on 'Google Maps'..

    Pressure washer

Get a decent one, should last longer and spare parts ought not be a problem. So to my mind, a Karchter, say K4 or K5 will give plenty of oomph.
  10. As to cost. For my own usage, I'm happy to try/use Aspen. I don't use a saw everyday, if I did, I'd be running pump with HP Super. But using 'A' means I don't have to worry about stale fuel problems. I sometime work with a group; there are a number of saw operator and they share their fuel freely. But you never know how old a mix is or how accurately the mix is. Some are spot on but some not so great. Sure, if I was mixing it myself, I wouldn't have to worry. But using 'A' there's no mix worries and saves me a bit of time. But I can see it's not for everyone. Especially if your nearest dealer is the other side of the county or money us tight.
  11. Is it just me or does he look like he was chewing a boiled sweet and it's just cracked a tooth?
  12. Scum, nicking anyone's transport.
  13. If the crankcase starts at £240, what will the final bill be for numerous trips to the dealer for parts? Time to cut 'n' run... and woefully have to buy a new saw.
  14. Thread started 17.02.09 and last but previous post on 19.02.09. But still a good thread. Eddie's not 'Superman' but he is a super man and getting Aspen in where he can. As to government and taxes - they could care more about safety & environment. But nothing speaks louder, than the prospect of milking the general populous out of yet more money. "One lives 19 miles from parliament and one has to have a second home paid for by the tax-payer, as it's too far to commute." There's hardly an honest MP in the house. And what happens after an inquiry into corruption of MP's expenses. No MP with fraudulent claims has to repay the entire sum and many, too many, got away with not having to repay a penny. Put them in the stocks for 6 months and let them feast on the rotten fruit that's thrown at them. Ah, but back to taxes. You might as well rig a tube between your muffler-lungs and hope not to pass-out. Than wait for reduced fuel taxation.

    Worcester Boiler

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should buy a new couple of rads, along with the secondhand boiler. A couple of 'Kudox the right size, comes in at less than £140. Since the present '350' boiler is a Worcester and has been very little problem over the years. I'm inclined to stay with the same make. Both present and prospective are gas combi units and thus will require installation by registered engineer. I don't see a problem with with swapping valves though. The prospective boiler & rads have been off the walls less than two weeks - the rads are being stored under cover, while the boiler & MagnaClean are being stored indoors. I'd recently been thinking of swapping out the two rads and fitting a MagnaClean. Also been wondering how long the ageing boiler had left but the thought of buying a new boiler was daunting. Then a friend said he'd swapped heating systems and casually mention the sale of his original stuff. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get a pup of a deal.
  16. Ok. This is way off topic. I've been offered a Worcester Bosch 537i combi boiler, (with remote timer) plus a MagnaClean unit and 12x assorted rads; all with thermostatic valves including fittings for £250 all in. The boiler is 5yrs. old, some of the rads are older but the boiler & system have been serviced every year. The 1 or 2 rads that I'd be using are 3yrs. old. (I'd then either sell or scrap the others.) None of my present 11x rads have thermostatic valves and so I'd be converting all to thermostatic units. The MagnaClean would also be an addition to the present system. Which comprises a Worcester Bosch 350 combi boiler with 11x assorted rads. The boiler is in working order and is approx. 20yrs. old. The 1 or 2 rads to be replaced are both 50yrs. old approx. I know I'd have to get the conversion done by a registered engineer. This is not a problem. I also have a friend who'll help me relocate the purchase for a few pints. So, is the Worcester Bosch 537i, etc. worth the £250?
  17. And how big are the joists in your place?
  18. I wonder if the tables were turned, if someone had liberated a caravan off a traveler and then it had been found on the driveway of a suburban house. I wonder if plod would be taking steps to get it back. We pay for the plod and the plod side with the travellers. Why not cut out the middle man. The travellers might as well go to the plod with a shopping list; plod seize items on the list and deliver them to the travellers. That way, everyone knows where things are and the plod don't have to spend their time looking. On a slightly different theme. Anyone know what plod have in their sandwiches?
  19. Well the forecast was rain and sine 18:00 yesterday, it's done nothing but... Oh sunny Cumbria - well they do call it the Lake District. Yes, I know only one has lake in its title. (Unless you happen to have been born, bred and live in Coniston. In which case, you'd refer to the 'Water' as lake.)
  20. Surely it largely depends on tyres, average load being carried on daily basis, condition of roads in your area, whether the town is in flat Lincolnshire or half of it is on a 1:6 slope like Ambleside and how aggressively one drives, etc. etc.
  21. Interesting indeed! Most krabs will allow for some sideways movement while open and I've, (while rock climbing) had on occasion a krab just touch off centre as it closed. But they've always flipped back into correct alignment and closed. When this has happen, I've needed to actually look at the gate, to ensure the krab has located where I wanted it, was hanging in the desired orientation and that the gate locked the krab. This has happened mainly with non pressed krabs. The ones that are basically bent bar and not bent then pressed to increase strength & reduce weight. It has occurred with snap-gates, screw-gates and wired quick draws but more than others, have been HMS krabs where the locking screw has caught the hook and been pushed/pulled to one side. The mis-alignment has not been by a great deal and has usually sorted itself out. (on the very few times when manual correction has been needed. A closer than average after climb inspection has taken place.) However, in all the years of roped climbing, I've only retired one HMS and a couple of snap-gates due to mis-alignment malfunction. Most temporary problem krabs, just needed a clean and light lube. During some inspections, the krab was found to have collected a bit of grit or grain of sand. (No I don't rest my gear in sand but when one is climbing sea cliffs, stuff tends to gets blown around.) A particular manufacturer is does not seem to be the only one. Individual krabs that have done this, haven't always done it, plus they've ranged through DMM, Wild Country and others.
  22. I presume you're talking about 'Linda Vista Garden', which can be accessed from opposite the police station or the lower long stay car park or the river meadows. http://www.parksandgardens.org/places-and-people/site/6731 It's a nice quite space and a pleasant place to spend some time before or after shopping/a walk in the meadow/walk round the castle. The upper car park is a P+D but the lower one, only has a charge on Tuesday.
  23. I like it. Gonna have to keep those steps well scrubbed to prevent any growth. I wonder if in the coming years, whether they'll have a garden that grows around the sculpture or if they'll keep it prim & clipped.
  24. Is it you or the company you work for paying the bill?
  25. You're into re-enactment, battle gaming or grand water pistol fights. Whatever the name, he's been born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he'll never have to work a day in his lifetime. Everywhere he goes, the general populous will be paying his way, for his party lifestyle and lots of newborns will end up with the same name. Charles must be miffed, knowing now, that for sure be'll never be the head-honcho. I reckon Queenie will hang on until someone finds her secret portrait in the attic.
