  1. post which bruscutter. it will be make it clear
  2. Lord Honda of big cord:cursing: was disgruntled that a oily smoking earl. earl 2 stroke of little cord should be going around that he was better than him. now lord Honda being one of a quiet disposition was not having this. so challenged Earl 2 stroke of little cord to a duel. having thrown the gauntlett down. he waited for the earl to take on the duel who could cut the most on a tankful of fuel. but to no avail Earl 2 stroke has not taken on the lord. will he take on the duel that Lord honda wants or will he carry on making a noise and smoking. i wait to see.
  3. will go down the local arb place and see if he has a jet head and give it a try. and will keep it in water . as for wear rate doing pavments it does wear the stuff i have is not to bad but the bump stop heads get a bashing last a month now keep a spare in case it wears out.
  4. re buying a wood. look for a wood which has hazel in even if its gone ott hazel you can do so much with. binders stakes for hedgelaying. hurdle making even if you rent it to a hurdle maker. spars, faggots, charcoal. all will earn you some return on your investment. if it has chestnut then you can make many things including clothes pegs. i would be wary of a one type tree woodland. mine is 80% hazel with ash birch and oak but they are protected so can not touch unless they fall but if its neglected like mine a lot of work to get it back to get the wood you need to make things.
  5. interesting reading gardenkit. will try on the stick going down to to 2,5 see how it runs 425 runs ok no prob but take on board all you have said and makes sense. recommendations for cutting around grave stones. tried a no and some are better than others oregen yellow line worked very well. but have to give different ones a try and will drop down line size to see what the difference is. do a lot of pavement clearing so need one that will handle the wear. doing the cemetery this week will go and get some 2.5 and try will report back on findings
  6. have no problems have a stick and a cow horn and i do banks anything and does not do a thing to them. old one last 10years still goes just needs a new shaft and housing £40 yes had a go with big sthil and good machine but for size to size i still say the honda is better than a 2 stroke. does not scream its head off you can go into big brambles with the blade on and it does not loose power it just keeps ploughing in. wish they made a bigger one than the 435 but that does all the jobs i throw at it. would not go back to a 2 stroke.
  7. thanks for that next time will get troops out and spread it fast so its not inn a heap. that be fun if it did go up already have 10inches of chip that's been put on over the couple of years but under a yew and holly scare y:blushing:
  8. had a good load of chip delivered and it started to get very hot can wood chip combust as getting very hot so have spread it out to let the air get to it.
  9. the debate 2 stroke over 4 stroke. you say the tanaka is lighter than the honda. and has 10% more power. but what size string will it take. my hondas take 3.5 and work well so does not break as quick on tuff work. it looks as if a duel not at dawn to early:laugh1: the honda again ts a equivalent 2 stroke on some grass. still say honda will beat it on fuel consumption rate of work and noise. i am up for it small wager to the arbtalk charity from the looser.
  10. if you buy gallop it will give you the dose rates in the product leaflet with bottle. if its a knapsack that holds 15ltrs you mix the concentrate for the job you want to do in with the water.depends how big a area you got to do its its not a knapsack full then work out square area then work out what the spray width of nozzel is. if you want more info re working out pm me and will work it out on my spray calc i have.
  11. thanks for that have the same so can do it at my time and not rush.
  12. the good thing about the Honda is its 4 stroke has more grunt than a 2 stroke. power for power cc class. also most 2 strokes apart from the monsters take 2,5 line the hondas take 3.5 line. the feed is simple double up line wind on pt through eyelets and away you go 20 seconds i can refill with line and be on my way. and i can do a good half day on one refill of line if strimming hard. and you will get the 425 for around £300 has i believe do not quote me 3 years pro warrenty
  13. +1 beat me to it gallup is a far better product than roundup. made for the professorial market so can only be bought from a trade outlet not a garden shed. for thistles if you can still get it grazon 90 was being withdrawn does a good job on those plus docks and rag.
  14. i use Honda,s and last one last 10 years before giving up and i treat my hard. do a very good stick UC425 UM if doing banks a good one to use cow handle one be a bit pain in neck. if its cow horn then the 435 48cc all 4 stroke so no mixing. have both now would not go back to a 2 stroke. big takes a blade and will cut through brambles without loosing power. the hondas my 435 cost £350 sthil eqivient over £500. no contest.
  15. thats a hedge be fun laying that had a good day at sparsholt weather good had some interest more re training than laying hedges. still enjoyable like sparsholt good show chris
  16. good to meet mad matty did not see you treegeek. had gillie on go . not bad show bit out of way of main things so crowd not as big as we wanted. but enjoyable. have some leads so fingers crossed. one being taken grind stone to a butcher so he can sharpen his knives. like sparsholt so will do it again next year.
  17. tomorrow is there countryside day will be demonstrating hedge laying in arb world new area they have competion pole climbing, chain saw carving procesers in action forwarders, plus other things to do with the arb world. have to say they have made the arb side a lot better this year not poked in a yard but in a large field. if any of you are coming along then on stand 03 pop in for a brew and biccies.
  18. there are a no of woods owned by councils which indirectly are owned by the public or have a say also common land is indirectly owned by public. agree there are no real public woods someone has to manage them. there is the problem once someone takes control its a minefield of regs if the joe public have a say or walk them
  19. re felling as other posts if you do not have permission its theft and criminal damage. as for NT have heard horror stories about them yet to deal with them. but like any big organisation its getting to the right person. waste of time ringing them up unless you want to spend all day. also as other posts they will want a lot of things in place to do anything if the public use wood. i have a wood belongs to a trust. has public access and if we do any felling we have to put up signs close footpaths off. have lookers on footpaths near to were we are cutting to stop them even with barriers. and i am just coppicing. so big stuff. find a friendly farmer with private woods with no public. and keep him in firewood less hassle.
  20. have a go with a toro cracking mowers. can mulch or collect. or a JD mower but get metal wheel one not the plastic wheels. these are commercial machines made to work.
  21. get hold of rigby taylor i think gallop is the stuff you want mixed with chikara. gallops kills it and chikara sits on surface waiting for it to pop up again effective for a season if it comes back. latter chemical is only effective on permeable surfaces. gallop is stronger than normal glyphos.
  22. charnwood or clearview latter make one thats about the size your looking for and it has a hotplate on top so you use it to boil kettle or cook on it. and when not in use lid comes down its approx 1k to buy but british made on the isle of wight
  23. sorry to be a bit thick whats a humus deck never heard of it.
  24. re finding a wood to camp in be careful at moment illegal raves going on and police are looking out for people in numbers going in woods. hate for you to be picked up just to enjoy yourself. have a word with a county scout group to see if you can use their site. if you promise to leave it clean and fires out should be ok very good one near winchester cracking spot very quite and not near houses. and near to shops if you need them not a walk but 5 min drive
  25. forgot to ask also need some green softwood about 9" up dia for swedish candles have a family get together in june and want to light up garden with them thank you
